This was SO MUCH FUN!!!! Mimi coordinated our entire experience perfectly, with ongoing communication and so much helpful guidance. Juan was our tour guide and he was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and fun!!

My guidance to future participants:
This is a REAL outdoor adventure, with a real hike through the rainforest and swim down the river.

Do not wear fashion sneakers or sandals, and then wonder why the hike is so hard. Do not get into a real rainforest river, and then complain about rocks hitting your butt.

Nature is gorgeous and this is not a Disney ride - do yourself and your group a favor, come genuinely prepared to do a real outdoor activity.

The forest that we hiked through and the Tanama River that we rafted on were beautiful. The guides were great, but needed to do a better job of wiping water off their camera lens before taking photos and setting the date and time on their cameras before the trip (one was a day off and one was 356 days off, and the times were several hours off). Body rafting was fun, but the water was COLD! Personally, I think they shouldn't offer this activity when the water is under 75 degrees F. Also, be forewarned that there are many low spots where one can easily get stuck or hit your bottom on the rocks. It's been 4 days and I still have a sore bottom. To include "caving" in the title is misleading. This was strictly a body rafting trip that happened to go through a cool river cave. The lunch at the end was delicious, but they messed up and didn't provide a veggie sandwich for my vegetarian daughter. We had to stop and get a lunch for her in Arecibo. I think they should have refunded a portion of our activity fee for that missing lunch. I would recommend this activity in warmer weather and when the river is running high.

Dear Mr.Chang. Thank you for taking the time to write how  you feel, publicly. We take all reviews very seriously. We have been hosts for 32 years, but we always learn from our guests´ comments. There is always an opportunity for improvement. We love what we do, and we have always been committed to excellence. On behalf oft he bakery staff, I apologize once more for fixing a ham and salad for your daughter, instead of a vegetarian sandwich. I admit this is the first time that we use their service, because our long time deli had to close temporarily, due to a Covid surge among their staff. When something like this happens, even after we contact each of our guests to confirm their lunch orders, we kindly invite them to stop by the Deli on their way back and have lunch as our guests. This time, unfortunately, they were closed. I am glad to refund  the lunch portion to you, Sir. Although you did not mention that when I texted you, apologizing. You will receive that refund not here through Viator, but through the platform where you booked our experience.  I ask you to excuse us for not drying our camera lense on each of the 57 photos and videos taken during our experience. I personally enhanced each of the photos in PhotoShop and ´curated´ the batch, to provide the best quality possible on each photo that we send our guests, as a courtesy souvenir. As a matterof fact, there are many nice ones from that day. It was sunny, blue sky, crystal clear water. What a beautiful day it was! We are not professional photographers. You are right. As you may have read our ´What to bring´ list says that you may bring your own camera. We do advise our guests not to take their cell phones to the hike as cameras,  because they may lose them in the river. It has happened before. Nature photography is always challenging. Although the photos and videos are not perfect, they do have a unique purpose; capture our guests in this amazing scenery and perpetuate the experience for them.  Curiously, many of our guests love that water drop in some of them and even refer to it as a ´´cool and fun, natural effect´´. Most of our guests are also highly satisfied by the variety of the scenes and spots where they appear in the photos. As you may have noticed, we take personal photos at every meaningful spot. We do not take ´group photos´. Mr. Chang, I apologize for not being able to apologize, for the 75 degrees temperature of the water. The water in our beaches on the coast is only a few degrees warmer. Puerto Rico is a tropical island. However, during December and January, air temperature goes three degrees lower. Almost all our guests love the refreshing temperature of the water. We hike and warm up by walking for a while in the shallow sections and then enjoy the water activity of body rafting by floating in some of the deeper sections. Body Rafting is optional. Some people love just to hike among the canyons and appreciate its beauty. We do not obligate our guests to get in the water. You may hike all the experience if you want. I also apologize for not being able to apologize, for the rocks that you may have encountered along the river bank. It is a river. It is a dynamic system. It has rocks. This is why, in the morning, at our meeting place, we take the time to demonstrate how to position your body while floating when the river is deep enough, and also how to safely walk along the river bank, for example, supporting each other with a partner, in tandem. Our activity is described as an ´off the beaten path experience´. It is not a fixed concrete trail like those you may find in a National Park. The outdoors and Nature are dynamic obstacle courses. Despite this, our guests´ safety is our priority. We have designed a safe way to offer our activity and are proud to state publicly that Explora has an unparalleled safety record with no incidents or accidents in 32 years. Risk management is teached to our safety- certified staff and hosts as part of our safety curriculum in our program, Puerto Rico Rescue and Outdoors School. I hope that you did enjoyed the geology and biodiversity interpretations that our staff provided. It is a special commitment for us to enhance our guests´experience by explaining, in a fun and passionate way,the Planet´s tectonic dynamic so that you may understand the area where you hiked, which was the Atlantic  Ocean floor ages ago.    Mr. Chang, we feel blessed to host our guest in our amazing private natural reserve, where you do not see anyone else, just the birds and the butterflies. This is precious to our guests and to us, especially after hard times when Hurricane Maria devastated our beautiful Island, and shortly after, earthquakes kept our visitors away. Then, we all know how the Pandemic era has given us the opportunity to appreciate Nature and wild life as a unique miracle, in its natural state. That has been and will always be our passion. We wish you a Happy New Year full of health and peace.

This was a memorable experience of a lifetime! Mimi and her crew with Kelly leading our adventure have been incredible hosts! They're very up beat and extremely knowledgeable making us feel welcome and treating us like kings and queens all the time. We were a family of 4 with 2 teenage daughters. We had an amazing time. Started at this local bakery which served great coffee and corn bread. They served us sandwiches with beverages after the whole tour which were delicious. The expedition was an adventure. Going on the river and through the caverns, water falls and surrounded by nature. Kelly's knowledge and passion for this adventure became very evident as we were going deeper into the terrain. We had to be prepared to get some bruises and feel challenged as we were going up the hike. Overall, a high recommend. Thanks Mimi and Kelly

It’s rare that I ever leave reviews but wow.. This was the absolute highlight of my boyfriend and I’s week trip to Puerto Rico. Mimi was absolutely heaven sent. She helped us organize our car rental for the week for a very affordable rate you won’t find anywhere else . Words cannot even explain how grateful we were for her service because without her help we wouldn’t have had any transportation for the week we were staying. She also sent the directions to the place where we meet up which were very clear and concise.

The experience itself was truly a once in a lifetime. Kelly was our guide and she was an absolute pleasure. She took photos of our entire experience and it was truly wonderful because we were really able to be one with nature not having our phones but still got to capture the experience. I don’t think anything will ever compare to being in such a beautiful forest floating through caves and learning about how it all came to be. It was a beautiful off the beaten path adventure! And quite the adrenaline rush when you’re going down the rapids :) . The included lunch (a deli sandwich of your choice) really hit the spot after the long hikes and body rafting experience as well (definitely drink plenty of water before and light breakfast because it is quite the work out!) I also highly recommend adhering to the dress code because you might hit a few bumps here and there in the water but if your skin is protected (how it should be )it isn’t so bad. I also recommend old sneakers you don’t care about since it is a long hike in the wilderness to get to the water and coming back and you don’t wanna wear shoes you care about because they will get soggy and smelly.

Overall, good vibes al around. These folks are 100% dedicated to ensuring you are safe, comfortable and overall have the best time of your life in their hands. I would absolutely recommend booking them. I promise you won’t regret it.

Highly recommend this to anyone!! Might be a bit challenging/physically demanding in some parts but the tour guides (Juan and Giancarlos) are very patient and will help you complete the experience with ease. Mimi was very helpful with the booking and communication, very sweet also :) The tour is unlike no other, the views are incredible. Lunch is after the tour is completed so recommend eating breakfast/hydrating properly beforehand. I took my friends who are not the most adventurous people and they had a great time!! The tour is also very informational. Pick up is not included in this tour, you will need your own transportation but it is very worth it!! Don't miss out!!

Thank you for joining using! It was a great pleasure sharing with you the hidden treasures of our private natural reserve while Body Rafting among the towering canyons and caves. I hope that you liked the cool photos and videos that we sent you. My favorite was your Choo Choo train ride floating downstream in the blue waters. Please come back soon! Much love from us!

I was not prepared for this trip! However, I loved it and look back on it very fondly. I visited Puerto Rico (Pre Covid) and booked this trip on a whim.
I think its best to have some level of physical fitness as well as regularly active in your normal life to get the most out of this activity. I would highly recommend it for those of you who work out regularly and looking for adventure and thrill. There is a mix of hiking, swimming, climbing, and body floating. The views at the top of the mountain, on the mountain, and going down the mountain were breathtaking. Our host was terrific and while we met at a central location, our host dropped us back at our hotel. The descriptions were pretty accurate and I have several photos and videos from this trip. I would not recommend this for children, people who are not in shape (sorry!), or those who have any injuries.

This was a great experience and I really enjoyed our guide. I was so thrilled to know they took our photos and videos and couldn’t wait to get them a couple days later as promised. Unfortunately, I never received them nor did my friend and all texts and and attempts to contact Mimi were ignored. It’s been 4 months and still nothing. A great excursion became extremely disappointing.

I had a great time on this excursion. It’s a nice mix of hiking and swimming down the river, with some caves and waterfalls thrown in. I didn’t find it overly strenuous but you have to be in reasonable shape to hike up and down some steep slopes. Also, definitely wear shoes that you can hike in and that you can wear in the river. Mesh running shoes are ideal as they dry out quickly. Overall, I highly recommend it and the pictures don’t do it justice. Oh, and the fact they take pictures for you and email them to you for free is a nice touch.
