About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 512debbyt0 contributionsWonderful day in Northern Taiwan, sea to mountainsVincent was great. He communicated well via text prior to our day trip and arrived on time. He was a very good driver, communicated clearly what to expect at every spot. Showed us all of the different stone heads in Yehliu geopark which was amazing. It was a windy day but still very beautiful. We took some shortcuts to avoid the long lines. He also took a lot of group pictures for us. Shifen old street is very charming and we had my favorites Taiwanese snacks there. Finally, the balloon send off in Juifen was a highlight, followed by views of the beautiful Juifen waterfalls. Given that we were in relatively decent shape, the amount of walking was perfect but in order to go see the specific sites, it would be difficult for someone who has difficulty ambulating. Vincent provided a lot of details about the sights and surrounding areas. His English is excellent. Highly recommend an absolutely amazing day in beautiful northern Taiwan, including both the coast and high mountains.Written March 17, 2025
- Nomad647080446890 contributionsExceptional experience with a perfect guideWe had an exceptional experience with Jackson. Having the private tour meant we could be a little bit flexible which worked so well as the weather was patchy. Jackson is extremely knowledgeable about everywhere we went including the best spots to eat and take photos. He is also a great photographer so our photos of the day are loads better than our usual ones :). We learned a lot and each destination was so interestingWritten March 16, 2025

- 525jeffreyy0 contributionsFun and tasty sightseeing. Start early!Nicolas’s tour is super thoughtful and thoroughly enjoyable. He is very communicative and prompt. He has deep knowledge of the history, the food options and photo opportunities across all the places. Loved seeing the falls, sending off lanterns, eating fresh guava, ice cream, jiufen restaurant, and seeing all the cats in houtong. He has also formed good relationships with store owners in the area, which is very evident in his interactions and no wait. He even has restaurant and tea recommendations that we got to enjoy during the rest of our stay. We left from taipei at 9am, but recommend starting even earlier to minimize the crowds. Thanks for an amazing tour!Written March 15, 2025

- jacquelinev6810 contributionsAmazing private Northern Taipei TourWe had an amazing day with our guide, Nicholas, who went above and beyond to make our tour unforgettable. From the moment he picked us up at our hotel lobby, Nicholas was attentive and ensured we had a great time despite the rain. He took us to all the must-see spots in Yehliu, Jiufen, and Shifen, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the day. He helped us take lots of pictures, introduced us to delicious local cuisine, and gave us great tips for the rest of our trip. Nicholas was always prompt with his communication and made sure we felt safe. Thanks to his local insights, we were able to avoid the heavy foot traffic and truly enjoy the sites. Highly recommend Nicholas to anyone visiting Taipei – his tour was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!Written March 14, 2025
- Worldtraveler33560 contributionsNice introduction to the cityWe booked a custom tour for two and were picked up promptly by Jimmy, our guide and driver. He took us to all the sights on our itinerary. Jimmy was very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Taipei and Taiwan from him. He was a very good guide. If there was a negative it was that he was a very slow driver (going 60 in a 90) so drive time was longer than expected. Otherwise good tour.Written March 12, 2025
- dimapsi0 contributionsSuperb tour experienceExcellent service. We were treated like kings. Our guide Henry knew all the tricks and shortcuts to let us use our time the best way possible. Tasted a lot of delicious meals and help us reduce queues or waiting times in crowded places. Would recommend 100%. One of our best tours ever.Written March 12, 2025
- X1993SMkrisp0 contributionsAmazing Day With An Amazing GuideThe tour company, YOLO, was very responsive in answering any questions I had. Our tour guide, Hicks Wang, accommodated our request to start a half hour earlier with pickup at the Keelong cruise terminal. We left the sights to visit up to him and he did not disappoint. Hicks managed our time efficiently and got us to two different changing of the guard ceremonies right on time. This was our first time in Taiwan and thanks to Hicks, we got a great overview of the island along with its history. Hicks made sure we were well informed by answering our questions and ensuring that we were comfortable. He also took great photographs of the two of us. His English was very good which is important to enjoying your tour. If you’re thinking of a private tour in Taiwan, we highly recommend Yolo Tours and request Hicks Wang for your guide.Written March 12, 2025

Also.. he loves taking action photos of you and Taipei’s highlights in the background!Written March 10, 2025
- Lee M0 contributionsOne day Taipei tourOne-day cruise ship visit. First time in Taiwan. We wanted to experience old & new Taipei & local culture. The company sent whatsapp contact info 1 week before tour, including driver/guide name & contact details. Guide contacted us several days before tour. Pick-up at Keelung Port was on-time, easy & uncomplicated. We saw Longshan temple, local food markets, Taipei 101 tower, Chaing Kai-Shek memorial hall, martyrs shine, changing of the guards, Keelung night food market & had a wonderful Taiwanese beef noodle meal at a small restaurant very popular with locals. Our guide, Chaing Chaing was knowledgeable & personable & gave us a memorable touring experience. Thankyou again Chaing. Everything we had hoped for. Highly recommended.Written March 9, 2025

Alex was an awesome guide for us. For this particular tour, it was worth it to go private, with our guide, as there were a lot of large group tours in tight spaces, especially in Juiffen. We were able to move about more freely in the small, tight spaces being just the two of us with our guide, Alex. He was a lot of fun to be with throughout the day. Well done!

Last minute booking for a day tour of the northern part of Taiwan. I always heard of the launching of the sky lantern and very much wanted to experience that. Well, I got my wish and it was fabulous. We booked a private tour with YOLO Taiwan to Jiufen, Yehliu and Pingxi (where we launched our lantern). Our guide was a wonderful lady called Richelle. She picked us up from our hotel (ON TIME too). She spoke fluent English and provided a lot of information along the drive. I was particularly impressed with all her presentations on her iPad such as videos of the national bird of Taiwan when we actually saw one (Taiwan blue magpie), and a music video of a song named after the road we were on.
At Pingxi where we launched our lantern, Richelle drove us along some back road to avoid all the traffic. Arranged the lantern and even took videos of us launching the lantern. When we were at Jiufen, it was raining. So instead of walking in the rain, I asked if we can enjoy some tea. Richelle took us to a hidden gem of a tea house overlooking the hillside. We have to walk through a narrow tunnel to get to the tea house. Quite an experience and I doubt I would find it myself.
So in general, we have a very warmth and friendly impression of Taiwan, partially thanks to Richelle.

Our day started early at 8AM. Day prior, our driver/guide Junior Wy sent a message thru WhatsApp confirming our tour. He was at our hotel at 8AM sharp. He drove a sedan (BMW) -- a very proficient driver who drove fast but safely.
Junior took us to Yehliu Geopark, Pingxi, Shifen, and Jiufen. Today was a sunny and humid day so I appreciated his effort to show us around despite the heat. He took us to routes that weren't packed with people and was able to show us a lot of places. We walked a lot and for me that's ok since I needed to burn calories anyway. On our way back home, he drove us to Keelung City and offered to take us to any other place we might want to see.
We were back at our hotel by 3PM. Overall, this tour was very much worth our time and money. It was convenient, safe, comfortable, and so much better compared to if we joined a group tour. Junior was a good tour guide who spoke good English; was proactive; and with a great personality. 10/10 will book YOLO Taiwan again when I go back to Taipei!!

Our tour guide, Caleb, messaged the night before to introduce himself and provide details on our pick-up/location the following day.
On the day of, pick up was exactly on time. The private car used for our transportation was definitely luxury -- clean, comfortable seating (enough for 6 passengers), air-conditioned, and bottles of water were provided.
Caleb provided us with an overview of our day and we immediately headed out. Our first stop was Shifen Waterfall -- such lovely views and Caleb guided us to various locations which provided different views of the waterfall. Our next stop was Pingxi, where we wrote our messages and released our the sky lantern -- such an emotional and exhilarating experience. From there, it was walking through the streets and marketplace of Jiufen Old Street. We stopped for a delicious lunch at a restaurant overlooking the city and provided a great view of the sea. Our final stop was Yehliu Geopark, which Caleb intentionally scheduled as our last stop (to avoid the heat and crowds of people) -- which we greatly appreciated.
Caleb was an exceptional guide. For those wanting an English speaking guide, he is the perfect choice! He was engaging and made for great conversation. He went at a comfortable and easy pace, allowing brief stops and frequent bathroom breaks. He also offered to take our photo at various times throughout the tour, which was so helpful (and he often had suggestions which made for great photo ops).
Overall, this tour comes highly recommended. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Taiwan with our family, and will definitely reach out to book our tours with YOLO Taiwan.

Wonderful private tour with our guide Vincent Lee. He was knowledgeable, shared lots of information about geography, history, culture, and religion. He had videos and written info for us to review as he drove, and we enjoyed conversing with him. Vincent came prepared with extra umbrellas to shield us from the sun or rain and wipes to freshen up and wipe our brows when we returned to the car. Vincent provided very personalized service. He listened to our interests, steered us to the stands at the market we were most interested in -finding us places to purchase wax apples and sugar apples, have tea, and get sausages with sticky rice. Vincent knew the best places for viewing spots and acted as our professional photographer with some very creative photos. This is a great tour and good value!

We had Harry for guide our private tour couples tour. As with all tours to a new place, the experience is a combination of both the places we visit and the guide who takes us there. Harry was a wonderful and sincere multilingual personality to have along showing us the beautiful sites, smells and sounds and even tastes of Jiufen and Pingxi. The vehicle was a late model Nissan X-Trail, Harry was punctual, very communicative, energetic and knowledgeable. We were taken off the usual tourist route where possible and used locals only paths to avoid the crowded queues in some spots. Lunch was taken care of personally by Harry who even went to the kitchen to make sure our food was compliant with our halal requirements. We met a wonderful tea master lady who treated us to a variety of amazing taiwan teas and learnt about the tea ceremony and facts behind the rituals. A wonderful day and experience, where we made new friends and shared many great life experiences. Highly recommended.

Vincent made the trip a complete breeze for our whole family. We appreciated the door to door pick up/drop off and the conversations and commentary that he provided along the way. This trip was the absolute highlight of our time in Taiwan and we would highly recommend. Our mum has a disability, and Vincent was incredible accomodating and took care to plan the itinerary around her needs. We also loved the sites we visited and felt like it presented a different side of Taiwan, while including unique experiences such as writing and lighting lanterns. Thanks again for the fantastic experience!

Johnny was our guide for this day trip. Right from the moment we booked the trip he was extremely informative, attentive and helpful. He went over and above our expectations and helped us find the best spots to take pictures and booked the best table for lunch and guided us throughout the day making it more memorable. He was very patient, well informed and kind. Every one of us had the best time thanks to Johnny. We highly recommend this trip for anyone travelling with kids.

We had the most unforgettable time sightseeing Taiwan’s breathtakingly beautiful old towns, Yehliu Geopark, waterfalls, and old ruins with Hicks as our trusty, expert tour guide. Hicks is such a kind, knowledgeable, and friendly person, and he made sure we saw all the beautiful sights from the best viewpoints and away from the Saturday crowds. We knew we were in very good hands with him as he made sure our adventure-packed day went very smoothly, and always accommodated all of our needs and preferences.
Hicks is also a big foodie, so when he heard we were really interested in Taiwanese food, he made sure we visited the best food stalls for snacks throughout the day as well as a restaurant in Jiufen with delicious food and impeccable views.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how incredibly grateful we were that Hicks never missed an opportunity to take our photos at all the sights. Usually, we struggle with selfies or have to settle for individual pictures. But now we have countless photos together to remember our trip!
We finished our day with Hicks with full tummies, full hearts, and full of new unforgettable memories exploring beautiful Taiwan together. We highly recommend this tour with Hicks. You will be happy you did!
