About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 662jessiel0 contributionsSweet cruise & tour! Our experience was awesome from the moment we were picked up from our hotels to our drop-offs. Since we were a larger group than what we could book ourselves, we ended up customizing our private cruise tour with MyTaiwanTour directly. They were responsive, organized and accommodating, especially since our group split their stays at two different hotels, and they were happy to provide pickups at both locations. Our tour guide, Tai, was great! It was a pleasure for us spending a day with someone who was knowledgeable, personable and led the tour that was neither too talkative, like a TED-Talk conference, or too dull. Sun Moon Lake truly was pretty to sail in. It's certainly not physically grand since we hail from the Great Lakes area, but that didn't dampen our tour at all. Seeing the landmarks around the lake was cool, too. I do wish we had more time at each spot to roam around, but it is what it is. I'd highly recommend this tour, and thanks again to Tai!Written July 30, 2024

- meganwV667CC0 contributionsAmazing Tour Guide and ExperienceThis was an amazing experience! I would definitely reccommend doing a tour through MY Taiwan Travel Services, the tour guide that my mom and I were given was amazing. She was able to show us a lot of amazing things and she was very knowledgeable in the subject of Tea. My mom and I did the Tea Tour and it was amazing, we had many wonderful teas and we were able to see where and how the tea is made. The lunch that was provided was good as well, it was prepared by a nutritionist and it was very fresh. She then took us to do the Eco Sky Lanterns and it was an aazing experience. I would definitely book another tour with this group again!Written May 27, 2024
- sonnyandmitcho0 contributionsBeware, Guide can make or break the tour experience. Don't truat their word about an "English Speaking guide. We have done private guides in over three dozen countries. We had one excellent guide (among the best we have experienced) and one guide among the weakest we have had. We had done a private tour for three days in and around Taipei with an excellent private guide. He went above and beyond, gave good descriptions, carried a tablet that he he had prepared historical pictures of the sites we visited and museum highlights. Our 6 day tour outside of Taipei had a well organized itinerary, however the "English Speaking Guide"/ driver, had very limited English skills, although he was a very proficient driver. We had to work very hard to understand what he was trying to tell us. He was even less skilled at understanding questions we had. We eventually gave up posing questions as he often answered information about something other than what we asked. He seemed to be always watching the time making us feel rushed. On the last day I sent the agency a review. They shared the review with our guide before making our parting with our guide very uncomfortable, with our guide telling us we had ended his career. What most upset me was that "My Taiwan Tours", put all the blame on the guide. I tried to point out that they had hired him, putting him in a position he was not qualified for, advertising him as an "English Speaking guide" and it was their communication with the guide before the tour was over (without our consent) that resulted in such a uncomfortable parting. I gave them several opportunities to take responsibility for their role, before writing a review and they only said the would review the processes the agency uses.Written April 19, 2024
- johnlC7141NL0 contributionsWonderful afternoon, evening tourGreat trip out of Taipei. Guide Melody was excellent. Atmosphere at Jiufen hectic but fun, contrasting with an evening spent at a great tea house overlooking the valley below.Written April 18, 2024
- JMK-Pittsburgh0 contributionsExcellent Day TripMy wife and I booked a private day trip with My Taiwan Tours and we’re quite pleased with it. I developed a list of places that we wanted to visit. They lined up David Lin as our tour guide along with a driver. The car was comfortable and both the guide and the driver were top notch. Our trip lasted 8 hours and we visited Yehliu Geopark, Golden Waterfall, Jiufen Old Street, Shifen Waterfall and Shifen Old Street. There was a lot of variety to the sights and the day was very enjoyable. Prices were reasonable. Highly recommended.Written March 16, 2024
- kenee20240 contributionsHighly recommendThe whole process from booking to the tour was smooth. We accidentlly double booked the tour initially and we got a refund without issues. All correspondence was done through email so as long as you have access to WiFi while you're inTaipei, the tour guide can reach you and communicate. We were picked up by the tour guide and the driver promptly at our airbnb. This was our first time in Taiwan and it was a really nice way to see taiwan beyond taipei and also chat with a local about the culture, recommendations, etc. We spent just the right amount of time at each of the locations it never felt rushed or too slow. The site are incredible, beautiful. Melody was amazing and I highly recommend!Written February 11, 2024
- 805cristens0 contributionsFun, interesting and awesome day tour!Vita was an amazing tour guide! She was so friendly, fun and knowledgeable . We had such an enchanting time building and releasing our lanterns; taking in the wonderous views of the waterfalls and visiting the stunning villages of Shifen and Jiufen. Even the soft rain could not dampen the day. Thank you Vita Chen and My Taiwan Tours for making great memories .Written February 8, 2024
- sjgjess10 contributionsWonderful tourWe had the pleasure of spending the day with Vita, a lovely, knowledgeable guide. We loved the entire tour, but my daughter’s favorite experience was making lanterns in Shifen. In fact, she said it was the best tour she’d ever been on. And she’s been on a lot of tours in a lot of places. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to sit down and eat with Vita. She knows the food. She knows how to order it. It was so helpful!Written January 13, 2024
- jlin8280 contributionsAmazing "White Glove" Experience- Highly Recommend! We are a family of 6 (2 seniors, 2 adults, 2 kids) that booked a private, custom tour around western Taiwan (Taichung, Alishan, Sun Moon, etc). I did a ton of research beforehand, and even with the thousands of positive reviews, was still a "bit" skeptical that we would have the perfect trip I envisioned. But I was WRONG. And they totally exceeded my expectations. Jessie was our tour guide, and Mr. Lai was our driver -- both were consummate professionals, incredibly friendly, and maybe most importantly, unbelievably flexible. Everything we asked, it felt like they went "an extra mile" to make our experience memorable and fun. For example- on a few days, even though the "official" agenda only had a few experiences booked, Jessie took the initiative to fill in the gaps with things we didn't even know we could do that were super-fun (and educational even!). Nothing felt rushed, everything just felt like it went like clockwork. I don't write many reviews. But this one I'm more than happy to do so. You won't go wrong with MyTaiwanTour (and if you do- ask for Jessie, she's great)!Written January 7, 2024
- sarahpemberton050 contributionsAmazing Flexible Private Custom ToursExtremely impressed with My Taiwan Tour. Ivy was excellent with the trip planning stages accommodating many last-minute changes and researching our locations and time allocation. She made sure the drivers knew exactly where to go, even the most obscure places. When we were there everything went effortlessly. Our drivers Jaron and Ken were both fantastic. Very professional, prompt, accommodating and informative. Both also had great recommendations to add to our trip and you could really tell they were working hard to make sure you saw and did as much as you could. We very much appreciated them both. If you want an exceptional tour to Taiwan, then this is the company for you. I had a very specific tour in mind which they executed flawlessly. I had looked at a lot of custom tours for Taiwan and the prices for My Taiwan Tour are very reasonable and they clearly do a lot more research than other companies into what you are trying to do so there is no wasted time on the ground. Excellent all around, could not recommend more highly.Written January 4, 2024
- dmm209010 contributionsExcellent island tour with MyTaiwanTourThis was a well organized tour, which allowed us to see many of the highlights of the island. We did the 6 day Around Taiwan private tour. Everything went as advertised and arranged. The hotels were uniformly good. We did opt for the nicer grouping of hotels. Communication with the office was easy and they were responsive. The highlight was our guide Ken. He is very knowledgeable about the country, and willing to share his opinions. He was also our driver, and we felt we were in good hands with him. He is a careful driver, which we appreciated. Note that this itinerary does require a fair amount of time in the car going from place to place. I would suggest that if you have specific places that you want to see, or spend more time in, that you arrange that in advance with the office. The days are full, and there isn't time for any impromptu detours to sites. Having said that, Ken was great about minor detours or quick stops for a photo, or to sample some roadside produce, etc. All in all we were quite pleased with the trip, and with MyTaiwanTour.Written December 29, 2023
- DutchVagrant0 contributionsMy Taiwan Tour - Custom Trip ReviewI recently had a fantastic experience with My Taiwan Tours and felt compelled to write about it. I'm a solo traveler and never travel with group tours as I prefer my own unique experience; and hardly ever do I book a tour with a guide as I'm more inclined to figure everything out myself. But because of the itinerary I drew up along with all of the activities' I wanted to do in Taiwan, this time I thought it was appropriate to hire a guide, and I'm glad I did. It's been years since I worked with a company to plan a trip; so it doesn't happen very often, but here is my review of My Taiwan Tours; they deserve it! To start, there is no "tour" for me to select to review specifically as my trip was completely custom, so here is a quick overview of where I went over the course of 13 days in Taiwan; I essentially made a loop around the country. This includes places I stayed overnight at along with a few places of note that I also stopped at along the way: Taipei - Jiufen - Kavalan Whisky Distillery - Taroko National Park - Sun Moon Lake - Chiayi - Kaohsiung - Tainan - Taichung - Lukang - Taipei. It was a fast paced itinerary packed with activities every single day; which is the way I like it. I could write pages about every single place I visited and every activity I did along the way, but I want this review to focus on the people that helped me along the way. Rest assured that every single city was great in its own way, and all of the activities I was able to do will be ones I remember forever. I have nothing but great things to say about everywhere that I went. I will specifically mention the food very quickly though; I don't consider myself a "foodie" but I have to say, Taiwan may have the best food I've ever had on vacation. My guide, Vincent, was awesome. He did such a great job every single day. He knew all of the local places to go and eat that made the trip so much more authentic to me, and even knew all of the checkpoint schedules when driving through Taroko in order to avoid waiting hours at them had we arrived late, which never happened. I never would have known that had I been on my own. He's also very well traveled (maybe even more than me) and is very knowledgeable about photography, so we were on the same page about a lot of things over the course of 13 days and he understood everything I wanted to accomplish. We were able to visit every place listed on the itinerary plus many others because of his good planning. If you get Vincent as your guide consider yourself lucky. Speaking of good planning, before the trip I worked with Vicky at My Taiwan Tours to put together my itinerary. She also did an excellent job, especially considering I'm not the type of person to just select a pre-arranged itinerary and go with it. Mine was a truly custom trip and she took great care in planning it while also making sure it was doable. Had I not received any guidance there would be no way I could have accomplished what I wanted and it probably would have been very stressful. I very much appreciated her taking my giant list and narrowing it down to a trip that was excellent while also fitting in to my time constraints. Taiwan as a country is really special to me now, and I'd love to return someday as my list of places that I want to see still has too many locations on it that I didn't have time to visit on this trip. I had high expectations, and somehow, they were all exceeded.Written December 3, 2023
- misssarahtravels20190 contributionsFantastic dayOur tour ended up being a nice small group of 4. Vincent, our tour guide, was fantastic. He told us lots of stories and answered all of our questions and flexibly and expertly tailors our day so we got the most of it. The scenery was stunning. Lunch was amazing- I requested a vegan meal ahead of time and was served a tasty banquet!Written November 4, 2023
- Trumpboyer860 contributionsLovely view from the top- Do book your tickets online at least one day ahead as there is a limited amount of tickets per day only. - Once up there, you can request the guide to help you take photos using your phone. Your phone have to be placed inside a provided plastic case that is attached to your lanyard. - By booking the tickets, you get a special guide bringing the group up, cutting queues.Written October 30, 2023

This tour was one of the best days ever!!!! I came to Taiwan to learn about tea and this was an exceptional opportunity. It was well balanced with scenery, tea lessons, food, and visiting a tea plantation. I could not have asked for more! This was my first day in Taiwan, getting my trip off to an amazing start. The guide even helped me with some things I was concerned about later in my trip. I cannot recommend this trip highly enough!

I have been on a 'tea tour'.The Chinese discovered tea. It was their gift to the world. Taiwan grows excellent tea. It is useful to compare the Chinese attitude to tea to the western view of wine -- you need to grow to appreciate its finer points. The tour will help you develop your knowledge of 'China's gift to the world.'

this is a must see place if you want to visit Taipei. we were thrilled with the height of the gondola as well as amazed with the overlooking views.
**better to buy all day pass ticket from MRT station, it's cheaper than buying the gondola ticket itself. (you'll get all day pass to MRT and buses except to 3 digit bus plus unlimited ride to gondola).

We booked this tour for the Lunar New Year. Jessica was a fantastic tour guide who joked with us and made the historical background of tea in Taiwan both educational and fun. Our van driver Tom was equally cheerful and a top notch driver.
Unfortunately we couldn’t ride the gondola as it was Lunar New Year and many of the locals and other tourists were lined up to take the boats. We missed out on that, but the rest of the tour made up for it! The tea museum and tea tasting was a lot of fun. The family who lived there was extremely sweet and spent time answering many questions. We had lunch down by the riverside and enjoyed the views~
We then stopped by a tea garden that oversees the Thousand Lakes. It was a little overcast during our visit, but it still made for wonderful photos! One note, the tea garden is on a curvy, windy mountain road. Take caution and be prepared if you get car sick easily.
The last item on our itinerary was a tea ceremony with a tea master. This was a nice way to wind down after the tiniest bit of trekking.
This tour is a fantastic way to learn more about the family-owned tea plantations and tea history in Taiwan as well as to experience the Taiwanese love of tea.

I had confirmed this tour 48 hours before the visit since I really wanted to see the tea plantations and experience something different than staying in Taipei City. I'm super glad I booked this tour for my family! I knew that there was a 4 people minimum requirement to start the tour, so I booked it for 4 family members and we were surprisingly the only people on the tour so it ended up to be more like a private tour =) Victoria was our tour guide and she is AWESOME! She is fun, energetic, completely focused on providing the best customer experience (since we were the only ones on the tour, Victoria and the driver David accommodate our request to alter the tour itinerary and spend more time at Thousand Island lake to take pictures). David the driver was also great, the winding mountain roads are no joke, especially since it's quite narrow in most areas and we were in a luxury van, but David expertly navigated the roads with his car and I felt completely safe. My family speaks Mandarin quite well but Victoria was nice enough to translate for me at the tea house in case I didn't understand some of the terms. We never felt rushed at all, everything was planned carefully and orchestrated well. Sure, it would have been cheaper to hire just a driver for the day, but what's the fun in that? We also stopped at Shihding, which was so cool to explore. I definitely recommend this tour company to others. When on vacation, I am willing to pay top dollar for the best experience since my vacation days are precious and limited. This company, tour guide Victoria and driver David definitely went above and beyond and delivered an incredible experience.

Even if I was the only person on the trip, My Taiwan Tour was willing to accommodate my preference for the tea tour.
Andy was an engaging tour guide, and was quite knowledgeable. He and the driver were pretty kind and I had a nice time overall.

The day was wet, gray and less than inviting but Andy Chen made the day with his enthusiasm, interpretation and discussions on tea, Taipei and other. The gondola ride to Mao Kong was nice and not busy due to the weather but it afforded us a good view of the hill side and was just fun - glass bottom. We spent time at the processing museum (ok overall) but very much enjoyed our time learning, tasting and talking with Mei Chia Tea Garden representative. Oolong, Pauchong and Oriental Beauty were some of the teas we tried. We also had a tea tasting in Shi Ding village overlooking the flooding river and just enjoyed the moment, learned some of the finer rituals of tea tasting with Chow Mei. I must say the Taiwanese olive was a surprise as it is nothing like I expected. By any standards the day should have been less than ideal given the weather but we enjoyed ourselves and had a lovely day drinking tea and learning about about Taiwan and its tea traditions. This was by far my favorite tour in Taiwan. It wasn't as exhaustive as my tour of Taipei City. This tour was a bit more laid back as we enjoyed learning about tea plantations, tea processing, the different kinds of tea, and tea ceremonies. The gondola ride was amazing! We were able to see Taipei from a really high perspective. And we got to see wonderful sceneries in the mountains! I couldn't believe I was there! Our tour guide, Kelly, was fun to talk with and very knowledgeable about tea as her family works in the tea business. Our group of 4 people got to taste different kinds of tea and we also got to participate in a tea ceremony which was really nice. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes nature and tea.

I had a great time on this tour! You learn about preparing tea and the proper way to serve tea with some beautiful scenery along the way. Our guide Amanda was straightforward and gave great background. I’d highly recommend, but be prepared to drink tea all day!
