Creating a magnificent scene, it stretches more than 21km and rises vertically from the Pacific Ocean, with an average height of over 800m. This section of cliff is composed of gneiss and marble. It has risen straight up on the eastern coast of Taiwan for thousands of years. The route along the Qingshui Cliff is the only coastal road in Taroko National Park.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Shakadang Trail, Taroko National Park, Fushi Village, Xiulin Township, 972 Taiwan
Shakadang Trail is also known as "Mysterious Valley Trail" and was renamed to "Shakadang Trail" in 2001. This trail is built along the river cliff so travelers can easily observe both the rock folds and plant ecosystem beside in the river valley. (1.4KM)
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Swallow Grotto Yanzikou Trail, Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan 972
Following the Central Cross-Island Highway, at Yanzikou (Swallow Grotto) the rock cliffs of the Liwu River gorge seem to reach to heaven while the river runs its swiftest and the distance between the gorge walls so narrow that they almost seem to touch each other. (1.37KM)
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Eternal Spring Shrine, in Taroko National Park Taiwan
Eternal Spring Shine there are stairs leading to Guanyin Cave, Taroko Tower, Bell Tower (the highest point), and across a suspension bridge to Changuang Temple (Zen monastery). The river valley next to the Changuang Temple has a bottle gourd shape, and it is named thereafter as Bottle Gourd Valley (Hu-lu Gu). The trail is a 1.3km/085mile leisurely walk will take 50 minutes to an hour for the entire loop. The trail is quite steep and visitors should stay off the trail on rainy days.Start it from the Changuang Temple will be less strenuous.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Taroko Gorge, Xinchen Township Taiwan
Taroko National Park is one of the nine national parks in Taiwan and was named after the Taroko Gorge, the landmark gorge of the park carved by the Liwu River. (Most of attractions & trails of this private tour are located at Taroko Gorge.)

Day 2: Hualien City - Taroko - Taipei City

Stop At: Tianxiang Recreation Area, 972, Taiwan, 花蓮縣秀林鄉富世村
Tianxiang is a large river terrace recreational area in Taroko National Park. Dasha River and Taci Jili River converge at Tianxiang to become Liwu River. The Sakuma Samata Shrine was erected here during the Japanese Era (1895-1945). When the Central Cross-Island Highway reached here Wen, Tianxiang Park was built at the top of the terrace. On the north-western side is the Tianxiang Youth Activity Center (Youth Hostel) and a Catholic Church is next to it.
Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Baiyang Trail, Xiulin Township Taiwan
The Baiyang Waterfall Trail is characterized by the number of tunnels. Beginning with the entrance tunnel of 380 meters (by the Central Cross-Island Highway 900 meters west of Tianxiang) to the last tunnel before Water Curtain, you will pass through seven tunnels along the 2 kilometer trail ( the 4 km round trip will take about one hour and a half).

Some of the tunnels are as straight as a pencil and you can see the light at the end. Others however are curved such that you will be enveloped in pitch-black darkness for a short time unless you take along a flashlight, which is advisable. Looking out of the tunnels from within, the lovely green mountain view is like a painting by a master. The trail was originally built by Taiwan Power Company in 1984 during the early stages of their plans (approved for construction in 1979) to develop hydroelectric power in the area, plans that included damming many parts of the gorge. The hydroelectric project for this area was eventually cancelled. Taroko survived and a road left that makes it easier for us to get into this once remote area.

The ground rock after Water Curtain (Shui-lian-dong) is loose and there is danger of a collapse so as present visitors are only allowed to the entrance of the first Water Curtain. Water curtain is a special scene created by spring water falling from the tunnel roof. Unfortunately, the danger of roof collapse means that the other water curtains are out of bounds.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Tunnel of Nine Turns Trail, Taiwan
The Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong) Trail used to be part of the old Central Cross-Island Highway (Provincial Highway 8). In order to relieve the traffic of Central Cross-Island Highway, allow the tourists to enjoy the view of the gorge, and ensure tourists’ safety, Taroko National Park Headquarters devised the plan of vehicle-pedestrian separation. In 1996, Tunnel of Nine Turns (Jiuqudong) Tunnel was open for vehicles, whereas the original section of Central Cross-Island Highway was transformed into a walking path for pedestrians, which allows tourists to enjoy the scenery of Taroko Gorge at ease without the interference of vehicles.
Duration: 30 minutes
