If you are looking for a smaller group experience then look no further! My four teens and I went out with another family of six. Our guide Juan was knowledgeable and made sure everyone was comfortable. He took us to see some monkeys, explained the areas/habitats we were passing by, and when snorkeling took the group to see baby sharks! Lunch on Tortuga Island was a delicious welcome treat. A memorable day thanks to Juan and Bahia Rica❤️

A wonderful experience. In addition to bioluminescence, we viewed the planetary alignment from a kayak on calm ocean waters and less light marketing the stars and planets really bright. Facility and guides were awesome as well. Well worth it.

We had a blast! The location was beautiful, the guides experienced, and the bioluminescence looked so cool. Highly recommend this place!

This was a highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Bahia Rica lodge is in a gorgeous setting and our guide, Luis, couldn’t have been any more exuberant about his job. He was safety conscious but he was also the star of the tour with his excitement. We had a calm beautiful paddle and watched the moon rise on the bay. The bioluminescence was truly amazing and Luis made sure it was a wonderful experience for us. Some people even swam in the bay. I highly recommend Bahia Rica for this tour, but plan a little extra time because Luis may go overtime in ensuring you have the best experience.

Thomas really knows the waters and how to fish. I’m a fish guide myself in Alaska, Treehouse Cove Lodge. We fished one day near shore and two days off shore. All days were action packed, and we scored by sight casting into schools of yellowfin in a feeding frenzy! It’s was awesome fishing. My Marlin continues to elude me, but I’m coming back in March to fill that dream. We had two marlins that hit the bait and popped the clip! But I was very satisfied bring home a lot of Ahi Tuna! 100% recommend!

We all really loved our kayaking tour. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and we could tell he loved his job and that this was a passion.

Amazing experience (even though it was apparently not the best of time of the year for bioluminescence) and great fun for the whole family - not least due to our very knowledgeable and super friendly guide!

Absolutely incredible. Not sure why this isn't #1 on things to do list. We choose a new moon and were worried about rain. The rain that did fall lit up the algae. Seeing the bottom of the kayaks glow will be a long term memory.

The Biolumenesent tour was a super special experience. My family of 4 and I really enjoyed our time. Our guide Jose was informative and the owner Vicki was helpful with our inquiries for recommendations on taxi services following the tour. We learned that they do Ocean clean up during the day, which we appreciated. If time permits we would like to help!

What an amazing day. I really can’t say enough good things about Bahia Rica. Or tour guide, Juan, was an absolute wealth of information! Such a happy guy, and just made the day. We were lucky enough to have the boat to ourselves, a couple. We say rays, turtles, spider monkeys, pigs on Tortuga Island and just a ton of fish as we snorkelled in two locations. Had fresh scallops served boat side and then an amazing lunch cooked by the talented Carolina. The day was the definition of PURA VIDA!

Fabulous experience! Being only 4 people - my wife and I plus another couple made it feel like a private boat tour. Our captain, Juan, spoke fluent English and gave us a great tour of the Gulf of Nicoya, making stops and pointing out picturesque beaches, rock formations and spider monkeys! He timed our snorkeling so that most of the other boats were gone, and we had it all to ourselves to enjoy the beautiful marine life in the clear turquoise water. Juan also showed us a few turtles swimming around. The lunch on the island in a private shaded area prepared by Carolina was delicious, healthy and filling, with yummy local dessert and coffee included. We ordered and enjoyed Coco Loco, which was refreshing and tasty. Excellent job of the whole team and the owners, 5 out of 5 stars! Highly recommend Bahia Rica!

This was an awesome experience and would highly recommend to anyone. Our guides were safety conscious and very knowledgeable about the science behind the bioluminescence. Jose was our guide and he was fantastic. A little canoeing or kayaking experience is helpful. A solo participant had no kayaking experience so they were put in a double kayak with our guide.

Such a fun day on the boat! Our tour guide was wonderful, and made sure to show us different islands and kept a look out for dolphins, sea turtles and whales. The lunch was amazing and Tortuga Island was beautiful. Would highly recommend definitely worth it!

Why do we only get to give 5 stars? This was by far the best day of our vacation. We did the snorkel/lunch/kayak bioluminescent combo. The guides were full of energy and information. Juan made sure that we had the best possible experience. We got to see Spider Monkeys and many other hidden gems along the way. He started our snorkeling away from the crowd. We saw so much, including a green sea turtle. After lunch on the beach, which was amazing, we got to go snorkeling again. I don't think he had to offer that part. I am so glad he did! We then returned to a lovely area where the hosts offered drinks and snacks while we waited for sunset. Kayaks were ready for us to see the wonder of the bioluminescence. No words can describe this experience. Start to finish, a magic day. Don't miss it!!
