I decided to travel with Degu to the Omo Valley when I saw how friendly and engaging he was in his TikTok videos. I made the right choice. Degu, Ketema (driver extraordinaire), and myself spent seven days and six nights cruising through the valley- and it was one of the best travel experiences of my life. Ethiopia is a treasure. A nation wealthy in religious and cultural history. I love it so much I returned several months later, to the north this time, and there was never a question who I would choose as my guide. By the way, please do ask Degu about charity organizations in Addis Ababa (or elsewhere). Helping out a bit where I could has been an awarding and wonderful experience.

We are a 68-year-old couple and are now on a 35-day trip through Ethiopia. The first part of this trip was in the Omo Valley and was organized by the professional guide Degu. From the planning to the final evening everything was perfect! There were many things that we particularly appreciated! Degu has a personal connection and relation to the tribes we have meeting - Coming to visit the remote tribes we were received as his friends. Before the visits, Degu thought us some expressions in the respective dialect so that we could greet the tribe in their language. This made everyone happy. In the meantime I've been to Ethiopia 9 times and traveling all over the country. On some of my trips (the challenging one) I hired Degu. He is very professional and born to be a guide. I felt that he knows very well the areas and the people that we visited. Degu's English is excellent. Degu had much attention to detail and always were taking care that I was fine and enjoyed the trip. He did take very good photos... of me :-) . Thus, he will try to find the best solution for anything you request. No matter where you’ve been with him, you will feel like home. He took me to most attraction sites in Ethiopia, he took me to Lower Omo valley tribes, to Upper Omo valley to the Suri/Surma tribes, Bale Mountain and down to Danakil Depression, including Dalol and Ertale vulcano (my latest trip this year in January). He and his team made the impossible possible!!! It would have been impossible for me to do all those trips without his experience, expertise, and reliability (I'm handicapped and traveling with a wheelchair). I can highly recommend Degu's services, it was the best part of my travel in Ethiopia.

The experience was incredible. Degu took care of us at every moment. We visited 7 tribes and felt very welcome in each of them. Degu had everything planned in advance and for 5 days we didn’t have to worry about anything. Life changing experience to be with the tribes and live with them for a couple of days. They treated us like family and had meals with us. We could attend a bull jumping ceremony and learn their culture from the elders and the children. Totally recommend this tour and Degu as a guide. Simply life changing experience visiting Omo Valley and all it’s indigenous tribes with my amazing guide, Degu Hable. This guy is not just a guide, he quickly becomes your friend and does his best to ensure you have the best time. Degu is a fantastic guide, very knowledgeable and service-oriented. This is a challenging region to travel in and he addresses all issues promptly and thoroughly. Degu understands local culture and tribal societies and politics as only a local guide can. He is consistently helpful and always checks in with you to make sure you’re getting the most out of your experience. The region itself is interesting, with various unique tribal customs, markets, towns and wildlife. I was fortunate enough to witness the bull jumping ceremony, for example. It’s definitely a place that rewards an open and adventurous spirit, and Degu makes it all a genuine pleasure. Compliments also to our driver, Abi, who navigated the local roads and pathways well and was always courteous and smiling. Great job, guys!

I’ve been to Ethiopia twice. Among those professional guides around the country, Degu is the one I trust most. No matter where you’ve been with him, you will feel like home. He is young but has been a guide for more than ten years. Although his performance got guaranteed by all the clients he served, he still looks for self-improvement all the time. I don’t judge a tour by price but by value. Most tourists try to find a cheap tour and do a “checklist” glance. If so, you will miss the most part of real “itinerary”, a true experience and a spirit inspiration.
