    Beautiful experience
The whole experience was amazing. I have been twice. The first time by zodiac and the second by boat. I prefer the zodiac because you can see the whales very close. The second time was also amazing, but you see the whales a little far away. We also saw dolphins. At the end of the tour they offered us hot chocolate on the boat.

    Amazing
Just amazing! The whales were so close. Our boat was just on the right place at the right moment. I appreciate the respect for animals, it's a good idea to leave the place when more than 2 boats are close to a whale.

This tour paid attention to the welfare of the whales. The guide was a biologist from the University. The information was well presented and good value. Highly recommend.

Perfect day in Husavic whale watching.
We had a fantastic trip in June on the whale watching boat Nattfari run by North Sailing. We saw at least 6 Humpback whales in perfect sunshine surrounded by amazing scenery.Without a doubt one of the highlights of our Iceland trip. The staff on the boat were very helpful and knowledgable too.

    Surrounded by Humpbacks!
At one point we were surrounded by humpback whales. As well as humpbacks we also saw pilot whales, dolphins and smelled the ‘stinky’ Minke whale. This was one of the best tours of our trip to Iceland.

    whales and more
loved the view from the boat. The free coffee was good :-) The whales came out in full force when we were there. There are no guarantees and June is the busiest month. In retrospect I believe that whale watching could be more enjoyable in the colder months

Pleasant boat- well prepared for conditions and helpful crew
Excellent service and preparation from the staff- whale watching holds no guarantees but we were able to see and follow a number of whales! You were given full protective gear to keep you warm on the sea and a cup of hot chocolate at the end. Only thing that stops it from being 5 star was the boat was packed to the brim! Made it difficult to move around at points but suppose that could be unavoidable

    Unusually lucky sightings
This trip was outstanding! We were unusually lucky in the number of wildlife we saw. Several whales, a minke whale, dolphins, plenty of puffins. Please take this adventure - the tourism actually protects the whales from whaling.

    Cool and informative experience
I was personally not sure whether I wanted to whale watch (I'm more into active things), but I'm very glad I signed up. The guide was very informative, and I learned a lot about whales and the environment. We saw a minke whale, a few humpbacks (spent most of time watching those) and some harbor porpoises in the distance. The company provided outer rainproof gear, hot chocolate, and cinnamon buns. Overall, a great experience. Didn't feel too crowed on the boat either.

Awesome experience. I had wanted to see whales all my life and within the first five minutes after departing from Hjalteyri we saw the first sprout.
In two hours we saw plenty of big whales, tales getting into the sea, some big jumps and splashes in the distances and some dolphins as well. Christian the guide and Christian the captain did a very nice job!

We were meant to do the tour from Husavik but due to the strong wings and bad sea they changed it to Hjalteyri. Best decision ever.. the fjord is narrower so you have less wind, smaller waves and smaller place to look for the whales.

Dear Èric, Thank you very much for sharing your experience you had with us with this wonderful review. Sounds like you had quite the first experience! There are really no words to describe the feeling of seeing these gentle giants up close. "The Christians" have been with us for many years and are, like all our crew members, very passionate about their job - thank you for the compliments to them, I will make sure they hear about it! Hjalteyri is simply a wonderful place, and I'm very happy that you were able to relocate due to bad sea conditions in Húsavík! Thank you again for your kind words, I hope to see you back someday! Þórný

It was a great day for sailing, the sun was shining and the sea was calm. We got kitted out in overalls to keep us warm at sea. We loved that our boat wasn’t crowded (like others). Plenty of room to move around, sit and see/photograph the hump back whales in the bay. The cinnamon roll and hot chocolate on our return was a really nice touch. Kudos to North Sailing for a fabulous morning on the sea.

We had a wonderful time with North Sailing in Hjalteyri.
We were supposed to go to Husavik but the company contacted us saying there was bad weather and if we were interested in another location where they operated. Luckly it was close to where we where staying and the Hjalteyri harbour was very secluded. We were able to see several whales during the trip, boarding was fast and the staff very helpful. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Overall a great experience.

Our tour from Husavik got moved to Hjalteyri because of weather. It was an amazing experience! Small group size with very knowledgeable staff. The size of the boat makes it feel like you’re right on the water and can reach out and touch the whales. We also did a tour with another company in Reykjavik; it didn’t compare to our tour with North Sailing. When we come back to Iceland, we’ll be booking this tour again!!!

This definitely rates as one of the worst experiences of my life. The conduct was highly unprofessional. Right from the disbursement of overalls and raincoats, which were essentially just lying around in a tin shed with no one to even assist with the sizes to the way the staff conducted themselves on the boat, it was highly disappointing. And to top it all we ended up not sighting a single whale or for that matter any species of marine life. The weather was bad and the tour company should have cancelled the tour and refunded the ticket. Rather they overloaded their boat and gave the customers an experience that would leave them in pain and disgust. The cinnamon bun was horrible and the hot chocolate was essentially hot water with a spoon of chocolate in it. I would warn anyone to opt for North Sailing's tour in the future. Please stay away and rather keep yourself safe and save your money.

We loved our whale-watching trip! The crew provided survival suits and rain jackets and had appropriate sizes for our kids (6y & 10y). We felt very safe on the boat and despite somewhat rough seas the kids were very comfortable. We had great close-up views of 4 humpback whales! Highly recommended for families.

The weather was chilly but clear. Few clouds. We did get to see whales, including humpbacks. The vessel wasn't crowded. Worth the time and money for the experience.

Thank you for your review. I am very glad that you were able to see whales during your tour! We do keep our boat capacity as low as possible to ensure space for our passengers, and have limited it to 80% this summer. We would be happy to see you again the next time you are in the Húsavík area!

Although I enjoyed the tour I found that the few times that a whale was spotted
the majority of the people would rush to side the whale was spotted and I may have
had 10 second view of 1 whales' back. I would have paid more to have less passengers on the boat and a better chance to see the all elusive whales

Dear Cat, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm glad you were treated well and that you enjoyed our whale watching tour! It's good to point out that you don't have to pay more to have fewer passengers on the boat - it's possible to depart later in the day. In the afternoon, the tours are less crowded meaning that you would have more room to yourself! Best, Elís Orri

Great experience.
Worth spending every single penny.
We were amazed by the experience and staff approach.
Even though the weather was not the best, we had great time and saw 3 different whales🐳🐋
