    Well worth a visit!
We visited Elizabeth Castle today. The Jersey Heritage team who work there were so welcoming from Alison in the ticket office, to the guys driving the amphibious bus, Christina F who welcomed us and ‘King Charles the second’ who gave a great commentary of life on the island in the 1600s. 3 hours just disappeared… definitely worth the entrance fee

King Charles II made our visit!
Lovely visit to Elizabeth Castle where we were able to explore the castle with its varied historical offerings. Very friendly and helpful staff. Most notable on our visit was a fabulous performance and talk by an actor who played King Charles II. He captivated us for an hour with a humorous, generous and knowledgeable presentation, stayed in character the entire time and brought us on a journey to imagine in to how the King ended up staying in the castle during his exile. Brilliant.

    A must see in Jersey
We took the amphibious transport across the bay, but you can walk at low time if you wish. We arrived at 11 am in time to have the presentation by King Charles who told the story and history so well. He should teach history in schools he is so good, kids would love his presentation. We thought we would maybe be done in an hr, but there is lots to see, wecwere there best part of 3 hrs so allow enough time. There is a soldier next that tells you more about the battles etc in the parade ground. Then the cannon is sounded. We then walked along the pier to the hermitage rock which has steep steps but we'll worth the climb. There is a lovely little cafe while there and all the staff were very friendly.

    Interesting visit
Elizabeth Castle is near the harbour. It gets cut off at high tide but there is an amphibious ferry you can use or walk across if the tide is out.I It cost £18.05 for the ferry and castle entrance. There are plenty of toilets and a cafe, inside the castle. I It was a defensive castle and like everything else in Jersey, taken over during occupation.

    Interesting Castle
We took the anphibian boat to the island with the friendly crew. The castle is very interesting and so much bigger than you see from land. There is plenty to see and the building work that is taking place at the moment doesn't spoil the visit or a chance to take some great photos. The little cafe is good and plenty of toilets. We spent 3 hours wandering around and listening to the enthusiastic gentleman dressed as a soldier telling us about the history of the castle. Definately worth a visit.

Not worth the money or a visit try somewhere else.
If you want visit a building site with not much to see and a volunteer actor in costume who rambles on because he has an audience. Which costs you £36 then this is for you. Enough said we did not enjoy it thought it was not worth the money. Sorry , price should be vastly reduced while building work is going on.. 2 buildings were open on parade round one had cannons the other some wooden beds

Well worth the visit, Charles II was fab!
We met Charles II at 2pm, and he was absolutely excellent! Really entertaining and amusing as well as informative. He was also very attentive to the group, and made sure those with mobility issues had places to sit. Truly the merry monarch!

To place in St Helier to visit.
Top quality visit. Walked there and back checking tides. King Charles 2 actor tour was the best I've ever been on. Explored everything on offer. Staff brilliant.

Well worth the trek across in low tide and then getting the DUKW transport back.
The story of it all and the storyteller who was dressed as an 18c Jersey musketeer Militia was very good and kept his audience entertained with his firing of his musket and a cannon. Excellent!

Photogenic, lacking interpretation in some areas
Went to/fro via amphibious vehicle. Two buildings shrouded by scaffolding, with accompanying building noise. Not many indoor areas open to public (one building being used as site office). Areas lacked interpretation. Amazing views/photo opportunities. Many steps to climb. Nice cafe with garden seating and excellent sausage rolls (friendly staff too). Spent over 3 hours there

    Elizabeth Castle/Ferry
Incredible visit to Elizabeth Castle and used the ferry/duck boat to and from. My father injured his knee from walking too much up and down the stairs on the visit to the castle. The staff was excellent and assisted via wheel chair on the way back to the boarding area. Operators of the ferry boat David and James assisted with such care and effort. The castle staff was wonderful and assisted as well to help us get him back to the jersey island boarding area. Thank you and what a wonderful tour of the castle we had. Highly recommend if visiting jersey 10 out of 10!

    Must see whilst in Jersey!
Do not miss the demonstration of the master gunner 12.00, 1.00 & 2.00! Brilliant, funny informative and irreverently entertaining. The brown Bess demo was good (as we actually have one ourselves), and the cannon shot to mark our late Queen and my husband’s birthday was very loud. 😊

    Elizabeth castle
Elizabeth castle is a fantastic place to visit. Especially on a sunny day. Easy to find and easy to access via an amphibious bus (or you can walk, but check tides!) The fort itself is large and well maintained. There is a small cafe serving food and drink and a gift shop with the usual things for sale. (The guide book is especially good.)!There are also plenty of picnic areas and clean and functional toilets available. We spent an enjoyable 4hrs looking about and being entertained by the ‘gunner’ a brilliant actor, who, with warmth, humour and a little mischief really made the whole experience one to remember. St Helier, whom the main town is named after, hermits cave is also on the site and worth a look at…so long as you don’t mind steep steps. It is a wonderful place for younger visitors as well as interesting enough for older visitor's. And should definitely be on your radar as a good place to visit if you are on the island of Jersey.

    Excellent visit
Fascinating place with amazing history, so many things to mention - lovely green spaces with fabulous views. Amphibious vehicle to travel to and from the castle if the tide is in or you prefer not walk. DO NOT MISS the amazing interactive demonstration of muskets and cannon firing with the Sergeant, both entertaining and informative, he managed to gently insult and make us laugh while informing and educating us about the history of the castle and some of its armaments. Really good day - would be back often if we lived closer. Thank you.

This was a wonderful day out, the journey over on the ferry (inc in ticket price) was fun and the castle situated in the bay have such amazing views. We saw hundreds of oyster catchers on the walls & the beach, a gull sat on chicks Jersey Heritage had again put on a perfect audio visual imparting information about the history of the castle in a fun and just the right length. The tea room was nice and reasonably priced and it was delightful to sit in the sheltered castle garden amongst the flowers. The highlight of our visit was the ‘living history’ where we met Charles II who was excellent

Jersey Heritage are to be congratulated on the excellent presentation of the sites on the Island. We thoroughly enjoyed our visits and for a familiy of four it provided 3 days activities which was excellent value. Both the Mont orgueil and Elizabeth Castle provided great fun for my 6 year old twins. There were activities specifically to entertain kids such as a small play area and dressing up room at Mont Orgueil and the live weapons demonstrations at Elizabeth Castle. Both trips take most of the day if you take time for lunch. The exhibits at Maritime Museum provided excellent diversions for our one rainy morning and we managed to get a quick look round the Jersey Museum on our last afternoon. We are National Trust members and visit a lot of heritage sites and were genuinely impressed with the creativity in the Jersey Heritage sites. The films were excellent and engaged our kids very well, I was surprised how much detail they could remember when discussing the visit afterwards. Definitely worth the money.

Great value to see the main attractions on the island. Buying these individually will cost a lot more. Recommend both castles and the Jersey museum. The maritime museum is a bit underwhelming and looks like it hasn't been updated recently.

Interesting castle to visit. Much larger site than I expected. Try and walk across the beach at least one way if you can. You will need to check the tides. We picked a day when King Charles was running an historical tour, it was both informative and funny. The actor is really good! We also caught the canon being fired. Parking in St Helier was a bit tricky, we finally opted for the multi storey which is quite expensive.

We joined Jersey Heritage as members (joint seniors) which was financially better than the 4 for 3 pass. HOWEVER we would recommend the 4 for 3 pass as we consider the 4 attractions (Elizabeth Castle, Mont Orguell Castle, La Hougue Bie and The Maritime Museum) must visits if you get to Jersey. Each attraction is a good half day to do properly!

This offer is a must if you're a history/ museum type. Fantastic value as all museums here beat anywhere seen on mainland for superbly curated artifacts and excellent presentations. Mind blindly good in fact, no fillers of 'activities ' areas masquing lack of content here! We were literally gobsmacked with the quality of all the museums/ heritage exhibitions

Interesting... we started with Elisabeth Castle , then the Jersey museum , La Hougout Bie and also the Maritime & Occupation tapestry museum . I think I would have gone to Mont Orgeuil in preference to the last museum, although the tapestry was very interesting , it was only £6 entrance and in hindsight the castle at Mont Orgeuil would have given us more value for money! But saying that - all places were vrey welcoming and friendly - helpful - we discovered that once you had visited one place you could return again as many times as you liked during the validity of your Museum Pass.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your visits to our sites using the Jersey Heritage 4 for 3 pass. Including the two castles as part of your four chosen sites offers great value and as you point out you can return to the sites as many times as you like within the 7 days. We are delighted that you found all of the sites welcoming, helpful and friendly - we will pass this feedback on to our teams!

A visit to Elizabeth Castle starts with a ride on the amphibious bus, which either drives or sails out to the castle, depending on the tide. I went across at high tide and enjoyed the brief voyage. On arrival, I joined the highly entertaining tour of the older parts of the castle led by King Charles 2ND himself . It's a fascinating insite into the history of the castle, jersey, and our monarchy . The king was a great actor , had the audience participation down to a fine art, and we all left smiling.
Next, I joined the Sargent for some drill practice and watched the musket and cannon fire. Again, brilliant acting and historical knowledge brought another era of the castles history to life.
I enjoyed a locally made pastie in the cafe , wandered around, taking in the rest of the castle and the views of the bay . There is at present renovation going on in parts, and I'm only sorry I won't be here to see the result.
The walk back across the sand was lovely as the sun came out. Great day.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review following your memorable visit to Elizabeth Castle recently. We are delighted our Living History team performances provided such enjoyment and insight to enhance your overall experience and we will certainly relay your feedback to the members of the team. A visit to the castle is a unique experience, as you have detailed, and the completion of the current renovation will add to this further. A great reason for another visit in the future?

Just had a fab day at the Castle. Yes, there is a vast amount of history and it’s a beautiful setting with the sea lapping against the rocks, but the staff make it brilliant. From the entertaining DUKW skippers, to the cafe staff, our immensely knowledgeable tour guide Daphne (with a superb jerriais abetot) to the authentic 302 year old Gunner in full costume! What a brilliantly entertaining and informative history lesson. Thank you all

Absolutely fantastic visit, the guys who played king Charles and the artillery sergeant where amazing making the visit from a couple of hours into half a day. King Charles gave an amazing amount of facts and got everyone involved. The artillery sergeant again got everyone involved with even gave a demonstration of muskets and cannon firing which was absolutely amazing. Fully recommend 💯👍👍
