Value for money and not boring at all.
This is an excellent trip with Joe our guide. Joe had excellent knowledge of the terrain, history and knowledge. Joe was also very polite and helpful. The trip was well planned and the stops were good and the refreshments were good. We love the ice cream stop the best. Highly recommend if you like rainforests, rivers, crocodiles and isolated beaches. Very safe!!

        A very enjoyable day
Though the pickup was late because of no-shows we had a good time once we got to the skyrail. We went up to Kuranda on the skyrail. At the first stop of Red Peak we took a short free tour with Ranger Ash. He was very knowledgeable and we learnt and saw things we wouldn't have on our own. Barron Falls was an amazing sight. At the village we went to see the Koala Gardens though we felt it was a little bit of rip-off for the price (AUD 38 with the 10% discount for 2 tickets). We wanted to have lunch at the Frogs restaurant but they had closed at 2 pm! Ended up having lunch at a family run place with very friendly youngsters. A new place that opened in 2023. The picture of the sign is from this restaurant. The scenic train back was everything that it promises and the on-train audio is clear and understandable. The coach was waiting for us at the station. A very enjoyable day that. Highly recommend this.

        Fun with the snakes
Amazing place, animals well looked after, staff friendly and very knowledgeable. Everything flowed, no waiting around. Plenty to do. We went just for half day tour which we thought was enough for us

        Fun with information
Great to see the animals. There were really interesting talks given on snakes, crocs, cassowaries and koalas with plenty of tome to wander around and see other animals. The tour bus was on time for pick up and return. A really enjoyable afternoon.

Great day with lots of information
A full day tour that included morning snack, lunch and afternoon ice cream. A really enjoyable day with an expert and amusing guide. The tour included a river cruise where we saw crocodiles in the wild as well as numerous other birds and wildlife. We were out from 7am until 6pm, with quite a bit of it spent on the coach. However, the time flew by with the entertaining information and anecdotes given by the guide, Daniel. A really enjoyable day.

No a lot of time spent on coach on this tour
This tour was very rewarding and moved at a good pace. Nice walking & guide information at the Wetlands & Kuranda. Love the walk down to the Barron Falls. The indigenous welcome and talk in the tour at Kuranda gave a lovely touch. Not too long driving from point to point. Lunch was very nice and time spent at Skybury was perfect & I would suggest to pay the extra to sample their liquors. Then tasty ice cream at the Ice Creamy. The return trip on the Skyrail was very great as we came down after the main departures of other groups from Kuranda so felt important as not crowded when arriving at the stations to disembark to explore the view & the rainforest (with a guide). Dropped off at hotel. Very enjoyable day.

        Amazing Trip
The trip was really amazing. The places were absolutely stunning and overall experience with Down Under Tours was incredible. They really took great care of their customers with top notch service and exceptional personalized service. This trip is included with fantastic food and great experience to taste local coffee and coffee liqueur. Special shoutout to Tara, Joe and Mark who made my trip very memorable. This is a must-do experience for anyone who visit Cairns, to enjoy the world’s oldest tropical rainforest.

        Simply Magnificent
Wow wow wow what a fantastic day. We were lucky enough to take the trip on the Kuranda Scenic Railway starting in Cairns. Everything about this trip was excellent from the star of the show The Train to the staff and commentary. The 2 hour journey just flew past with a different thing to see around each corner. Incredible views, magnificent waterfalls and extremely well commentary about the history of the railway. I would highly recommend spending a day on this train. Worth every cent.

        Great local guide. Beautiful rainforest.
The tour guide, Scott, was excellent and had a lot of interesting local knowledge and personal anecdotes to share. We enjoyed the opportunity to spend so much time in the beautiful Daintree rainforest. The catered morning tea, lunch, and dessert were also delicious.

        Step back in time!
Loved the train! We were lucky it wasn't too busy so we had plenty of room. In peak season I would recommend Gold class. The scenery was spectacular. Kuranda was not my cup of tea, way too touristy. But absolutely would do the train again and the sky train on the way down.

Wonderful day on a heritage railway followed by great wildlife encounters
We had a great day enjoying gold class on the railway and then the wildlife package that included koalas, birds and butterflies. The on board service was excellent with lovely tea and tasty treats. We purchased at the koala place a chance to hold a koala and have our picture taken. It was delightful. The sky ride back was great with a second view of the magnificent waterfalls. The train stops at one side and the cable car at the other side. At a different stop we had a ranger give us a short tour of the rainforest. It was a great day and we highly recommend it.

        Great experience with Skyrail
Really well organised. We paid a little extra for a prompt pick up from our hotel to transfer to the Smithfield terminal and a return coach back at 4pm. As we drove, we got a little tour guide of Cairns. The cable car ride stops at two areas - both give you the chance to see the rain forest close up and also the Barron River falls which are breathtaking. Kuranda is an interesting village with a variety of restaurants and shops- also we enjoyed the Koala Country attraction. We allowed 6 hours all in and needed all that time - worth perhaps allowing a full day.

Fantastic tour, great guide and lovely food
Did this trip through our tour company and was not disappointed- the drive from Cairns up to Mossman and Daintree is beautiful and our driver and guide was informative and entertaining on the way up. Scott is passionate about the area, the culture and future of the beautiful forest. The trip included a tea and scones stop, lunch, and then ice cream at Daintree - all had gluten free options- and sorbet was available for those who don’t do dairy. All together a fantastic trip to see the oldest living rainforest and feel and hear its magic

Booked a tour and was supposed to be picked up at 8:30am. Bus 40mins late with no notification for my friend and I who both listed valid mobile numbers and emails. When speaking to our hotel staff, they said it was a frequent occurrence with this tour company. You're better off buying your train and sky tram tickets and getting an Uber or taxi to/from the train stations.

What a fabulous way to enjoy a luxury train journey through fabulous landscapes. Starting with a mocktail at Freshwater Station and then boarding the train was simple, seamless and enjoyable.
Once on board, Aiko, our carriage guide served drinks and lovely hot food while making sure we knew where the next view was. We missed nothing.
The lounge chairs are comfortable and the delightful heritage carriages are spotlessly clean. Drop down windows provide a cooling breeze and photo access. The stop at Barron Falls is long enough to take the pics you want.
Access to the carriage is via steep narrow steps.

Wow, wow, wow! This trip was amazing and we would highly recommend that if you can, upgrade to Gold Class. It was well and truly worth it! The skysail was fantastic and our boys aged 6 and 10 loved it. The two stops along the way to look at the fall were great and Luke was very knowledgable. The scenic railway home was fantastic. Gold class meant that we had our own quiet carriage with only a few others, comfortable, individual arm chair seating and a lovely and attentive host, Aikito, looking after our every needs. Included in gold class was unlimited wine, beer and soft drink, and Aikito kept our drink well topped up for the duration of the trip. We also received macadamia nuts, mango sorbet and an individual cheese and dip platter. Yum! I would highly recommend this tour and upgrade to gold class if you can!
We booked though DownUnder Tours and found them to be professional and great deal wth!

We walked from Double Tree by Hilton to the Cairns Railway Station to begin our journey to Kuranda on the Scenic Railway. It was a 20 minute walk to the station on a rather humid day. They were very helpful at the station and we finally boarded the train to find our set seats. The Gold Class section was almost full. We had very comfortable seats by the window to catch the beautiful views. The staff came around at took our drink orders of which you could have sparking wine, beer or cool drinks. We could have as much as we wanted. We also had a tray of food each which consisted of cream cheese & spinach pastry roll, savoury muffin and an enormous Anzac biscuit which was lovely. We finished off with a lovely Mango sorbet. On the trip you get to stop and stretch your legs and take a few photos of Barron Falls before heading off to the final stop at Kuranda. The train station at Kuranda is so beautiful that I took many photos. We headed of to check out the beautiful town of Kuranda. There is a lot to see and do here so allow some time to have a look around. We did the return journey by Skyrail so we could see the ocean on the way back.

We called to confirm, as per instructions, and were told that the skyrail was closed because of the weather. As we had a rental car, we drove to Kuranda and the skyrail was operating. Not sure if they hadn't made arrangements to pick us up or if there was a change between our call and our arrival. We had attempted to call the day before and, even though the recording said we were calling during open hours, the rest of the message said they were closed.

Booked on this trip for Tuesday 4th October through Trailfinders.
Our Trailfinders voucher advised pick up time at 07:45. We contactedDown under Tours for confirmation of pick up details which was given as 11:05. With many pick ups on the way - arrived at Kuranda sky train at approx 13;45. On reaching village told to be back at railway station for train departing 15:30. We were not seated in comfortable gold class carriage, did not receive any tea or coffee or snacks and insufficient time from arrival to explore Kuranda village. Restaurants, bars etc were all closing before our train departed. This Tour did not deliver our expectations- basically a total waste of money and time. Down under tours did not provide the tour we paid for, so can only rate our experience as terrible on the basis of this and poor customer service (note not Trailfinders fault ). Would seriously consider never booking a trip with this company,

An absolutely amazing trip. The little extra paid for gold class ticket with wine beer and canopes and bucket seats was def worth it. Barron falls were spectacular and if you do return on cable car as we did then you get to stop at photo point from both sides of it. Also did the Koala animal world in Karunda great value at $20 each but lots to see and then little village shops are not even rip off for tourist place. All in all great day out.

It was a pleasant, easy experience and everyone was helpful. We enjoyed it very much and would recommend Skip the Line for Skyrail and for the Kuranda Train Gold Class trip. Really we didn't need dinner after the afternoon tea on the train. We had drinks, almonds to nibble on, cheese platters, drinks and mango sorbet.

Cannot fault the Skyrail experience going up to Kuranda, or the Gold Class experience on the train coming back to Freshwater Station. The staff in our carriage on the train were lovely and the wine and cheeses excellent.
However, we were looking forward to spending free time in Kuranda, which didn't really eventuate. If doing this tour again, we would make sure that it was for a full day in order to enjoy not only the Skyrail and train journeys, but to make sure that there was ample time given to that lovely village and the attractions there.
Our pick-up time in Port Douglas was 11.15am and Tony our driver was prompt.
We didn't expect the extra number of pick-ups on the way down to Cairns from Port. Because of the inexcusable tardiness of a couple of people at a resort along the way, our time-table was right out the window. We all waited over 20 minutes for these two to show up and board the bus. As they were only going a short distance to a crocodile and wildlife centre, we wondered why they were picked up on this tour anyway. Not only that, but once at the centre, our driver again had to leave us in the bus while they were shepherded to the entrance, taking even more of our time. By the time we reached the Skyrail we didn't have time to step off at any stage but went on directly to the Kuranda stop. There was little time to walk up the hill and get to the market so decided instead to stop at the Kuranda Hotel for something to eat. They had run out of food except for a bowl of hot chips and a drink.
All credit to Tony our driver as this situation was not his doing. He was polite at all times.

Thank you for your review. I am pleased you spoiled yourselves in Gold Class on the Kuranda Train and that you really enjoyed your experience on Skyrail Cableway. The transfer option from Port Douglas does make this tour an afternoon half day tour. This gives you the opportunity to sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast and then be picked up for your tour, roughly 11:00 - 11:15 am. The Skyrail up is at 12:45 and the train leaves Kuranda at 3:30pm, giving you about 1 hour -1.5 hour in Kuranda. The transfer is set up to pick up passengers for the Hartley's Crocodile Adventure, as well as for the Kuranda tour, as Hartley's is only 15 minutes out of Port Douglas in the same direction. There are other options if you have your own vehicle and want to self drive, but that isn't an option for a lot of people. Having the transfers is a great, cost effective alternative. Our coaches are comfortable, airconditioned and well appointed, with large windows for sightseeing along the coastal road. Transfers are also great for the trip home if you have sampled a few local beverages after travelling on Gold Class. I'm sorry your day didn't live up to your expectations.

An amazing day! Very well organised from pick up to drop off. The Kuranda train ride was great. We loved the morning tea and champagne in the Gold Class carriage! Lovely scenery and commentary.
We had lunch in Kuranda and then took the Skyrail back. We allowed ourselves plenty of time for the two stops on the way down. The waterfall on the partly glassed bridge gave lots of photo opportunies and the the forest boardwalk was relaxing. Scenery was amazing, great to see the tops of trees and ferns, a beautiful sight. Once down into Smithfield we enjoyed coffee and cake in the Skyrail cafe whilst waiting for our bus. One of the best days I've had here in Cairns!
