          Avoid this tour
Booked this tour two days before we were to go. They said we'll receive an email confirming pickup time 21.30 day before. So when no email arrived I was trying to contact MTO tours but no answer, called the vivitar help line ( who TripAdvisor booked through) and they were very helpful to tell me my booking was confirmed ( which I knew) and more importantly the pickup time was 8 am. So next morning no one showed up . Frustrated and angry we waited an hour then tried to contact MTO tours again and no answer so contact vivitar and they tried to contact the tour operator too and no answer. After 2 hours we gave up and organised a credit which hopefully was promised to arrive in 7 days. We read the reviews and there were lots of 1 stars but we gave them the benefit of doubt. How wrong were we. Avoid at all cost to save frustration and valuable holiday time.

          Bad tour operator
Extremely bad. It was advertised the pick up time would be 7am but asked to pick up at 5:30am. We wouldn’t be booking if the information is correctly stated. Asked the operator to proceed and not to pick us up but no response since. They are dishonest tour operators. Viator, the responsible customer service agent, is not helping at all too. So disappointed to trip advisor as I assume they will provide offer from trust worthy agent on their website. So far no response from trip advisor yet but won’t accept such an irresponsible arrangement.

          Scenic landscape and good experience
Panoramic and enjoying trip, good transport service and host. Chocolate house doesn't have to much to show. Good food on the way but don't have more economic options.

          Great Tour
Great value for money, got to see a lot of the city and learned a lot from our guide Diego. Bus transfer was great but unfortunately a lot of traffic when picking other hotel guests up in the city. That can take a while but hard to avoid in Santiago

          Amazing trip 😍
Mario is an amazing guide who is really carismatic, we visited a lot of places and did some technical stops to fully see what cajon del maipo offers, it's a beautiful place that you must go

          Exceptional experience
The communication between the service and myself was really great. JC contacted us the day before our arrival and stayed in great contact upon exiting the airport. He was on time, and easy to find on exit of the airport. JC was super friendly, a great driver and an excellent DJ! Would 100% ride with MTO Tour again.

Was told to be picked up super early in the morning and ended up getting robbed and missing the trip
As the title implies, I was so unlucky to get robbed while waiting for the trip and missed it as a result. It was a horrible experience and I know nobody wanted that to happen. But it was also on the coordinator/driver's part for telling me to meet super early in the morning in a bad part of town that I came to be aware of later. The driver also came late, so I had to wait around and then I became an easy target for the robbers. For future visitors, please take precautions in sketchy neighborhoods and try to negotiate to be picked up when it's not too dark, and do not go alone like me.

          The best tour guide
Valentina is very warm, caring, professional, and funny. She made the trip to relax and show the hospitality side of Chileans! She accommodated our needs without hesitation, and we were so glad to have her as our tour guide!

If you want a company who don’t give a damn about you, choose this one!
We booked this trip through Get Your Guide for Cajon del Maipo, as described on the ad for the tour. We are a family of 4, two kids on 9 & 10. We booked this specific tour because it stated pickup 6:30 or 7am. We chose 7am. When we received the pickup time 21pm yesterday, it stated 6:15. That made no sense! Anyway we were ready 6:15. The bus was at our hotel 6:30 and, without further information from the driver, we were driving in silence with the rest of the group. It seemed like we were in a major rush as the driver drove VERY fast and aggressively. After one hour we stopped at a place in San Jose. This was the first information we ever got from the driver, who turned out to be the guide as well. Here we could buy breakfast, use bathroom and do rentals. We asked: “Rentals for what?” So the guide explained that we were going to walk up on the mountain at the height of 4000m for 2 hours in -6C degrees. “What?!” We were not prepared for this as this was NOT informed at all in the tour description. We told our guide that we were not prepared for this, but he stressed that this was not his problem since he was just the driver/guide and not the company. Since we had brought our kids and it was freezing already and the rentals would be around 200$ in the amount on top of the tour price.(AGAIN, NO information about rentals in the description or that you should bring clothes for minus 6 degrees)! We decided to stop the trip and get back to the hotel. We could not offer our children (or ourselves) to freeze for several hours and risk altitude sickness too. We had to take a cab and pay ourselves 40USD. So we did. We then talked with MTO over WhatsApp and asked for a refund for us, since the tour description didn’t match reality. The reply was that we started the tour so no refund, it was our own fault. I tried to explain that nothing indicated in the desciption that we needed to bring ski clothing for minus degrees! I tried to explain that if this was stated, we wouldn’t have been on the trip. Reply was that “it’s in the mountains” so it’s cold. I tried to explain that they are the tour provider and we don’t know the exact tour, so that little information would have been relevant. And we are tourists from a country with no mountains and we have been to mountains before in other countries without it being minus degrees. (In Santiago where we are staying in chile it is 22 degrees.) There’s no understanding from the company, we are apparently seen as the stupid ones and we should have known everything about the trip without them describing it. We don’t know how we should have known this as tourists in a new country. We cannot stress enough NOT to use this provider. Attached is screenshots of desciption and some replies from the company.

          Tour review
My husband and I took this tour from Santiago since we had a day layover on our way back from Rapa Nui. Our tour guide Alexis was a great guy who explained everything in multiple langauges so everyone could understand. He also kept the atmosphere lively and engaged with his humor, jokes and questions. It was a great tour with him. Pros Tour guide was great! Pick up time was coordinated in advance (the night before) Cons The tour goes longer than mentioned. It is a 12 hour deal with pickup and drop off time included You do not get a lot of free time to explore in any of the places (maybe I misunderstood the description of the tour and expected more).

People should be worn about the extremely cold weather.Dissapointed.
Juan was a very good host, he saved the trip, apart from that, the facilities very poor( first stop,no seats to enjoy the chocolate, toilets shocking, no paper and a charge of 500 chilean pesos, it’s not the money, but if you charge you should keep it clean, no toilet paper. The lunch was good and drinks at the end was good.Juan is great guy.

          Great tour with guide Mario
I enjoyed the panoramic tour to Valle Nevado and Farellones with MTO. In fact, we visited more places than just that and also got to see La Parva and El Colorado. Our guide Mario did a great job. He gave informative explanations about the places that we passed with the van and that we visited. He also borrowed us a sledge when we stopped to enjoy the snow. And last but not least, he recommended us to take the funicular in El Colorado which was wonderful.

          Don't bother
We had booked on this tour but it was cancelled the day before due to allegedly a road closure. We were not offered a refund at this time just an option to go on an alternative tour which we accepted. We got a message at 845 the night before saying we would be picked up at 550am which was a lot earlier than the original tour. When we complained to the driver he said he was 'only the driver' and could not do anything about it. However later on when he bothered to introduce himself to the group it turns out he was the tour company owner. The tour was very poor.We were ferried around in a mini bus with no proper explanation of the areas that we were travelling through. A particular low point was stopping at a house where some germans lived and then getting on the bus and travelling 30 meters only to get out again to be shown a pond so we could take a photo (remember we are in the Andes here....). Another low point was when we were told we would be dropped off to spend an hour 'walking in tne mountains with a guide' but we were dropped off in car park and the 'walk' was actually 10 minutes on sroad with a barrier at the end.Oh and by the way the guide was right at the back and he disappeared after a few minutes. Also the standard of driving was poor.

Alexis did.a.very nice job hosting and guiding us, and Hernan did the same driving. Alexis has a great personality and made the trip from San Antonio to Santiago education and enjoyable. The tour of Underraga Vineyard was a real highlight, and Alexis also did a nice job of serving as an English interpreter during this primarily Spanish-speaking tour. The brief city tour of Santiago was helpful and.lunch at El Galeon was excellent, although it might have been helpful to swap the timing of these as everyone was pretty hungry by the time we got to Santiago and the city tour might have been more engaging after lunch.

Alexis also provided some nice recommendations at the end of the tour, going so far as to remind us we have his phone number and not to hesitate contacting him by phone or WhatsApp if we needed anything during our stay. It was a really thoughtful touch and was entirely sincere.

So, all-around this was a very positive experience and a really nice way to transition from our cruise to Santiago. Thanks, Alexis, and all the best to you!

This was the worst. Suddenly cancelled the morning of the tour without warning leaving us without recourse. Would not return calls or give alternative. Appears they kept our money as well. We are looking at legal options. Avoid this supposed tour company at all costs.
