We are one of leading tour service provider in Yala Since 1984. Park Gate is opens at 6 AM and we are ready to drive then.  First Try is to get in to the park as one of first Jeeps. That will give us maximum opportunities everyday.  Early morning first 2 hours and the day end last 2 hours is the golden hours for the leopard spotting.  Therefore we will not waste our time with the common animals or birds within this time.   After this Golden Hours we will change the driving style in to explaining process and stop by every single thing we see on our route.  Within this tours to Yala, Big 3 is Leopard, Sloth Bear & Elephants. Other than that Many other different animal like Crocodiles, Monkeys, Deers, Birds, Jackals, Mongoose..... Many people in there reviews mentioned that the Yala is very busy, I have to say this, We will not drive only the main road of the park. Over set of Toyota Hilux/Toyota Land Cruiser Jeeps are able to Drive any road in the park and we will.

Yashara is the best! Saw multiple Leopards, Elephants and a Sloth Bear!
Yashara was our tour guide today and he did an amazing job. Couldn't have asked for a more enthusiastic and engaging guide. He was constantly looking for the best places to spot Leopards, Bears and Elephants. Often pointing out wildlife we had no idea was right infront of our eyes. I was extremely satisfied with our trip and can happily say I have crossed off seeing a Leopard from my bucket list. We saw a leopard with 2 cubs, followed by another Leopard with 3 cubs, mind-blowingly beautiful and majestic creatures. This is a memory that will stay in my mind forever. Thanks again for all your effort today Yashara and I highly recommend anyone who visits Sri Lanka to go out of their way and make a trip to Yala National Park.

        Great safari
It was great with Yashara, he showed us leopards and many other animals. He drove really fast to show us the leopards and the food was nice.

        Full Day Safari
My husband and I did a full day Safari in Yala, driven by Sasanka on our recent trip. It the best experience we had the whole trip! Sasanka was a fantastic driver and I don’t think our day would have been the same without him. He obviously had a lot of contacts and was aways speaking with other drivers to find out about locations and sightings of animals, and when he got word of something he drove us incredibly quickly to the location to give us the best chance of spotting the animals. With his expertise and driving we saw so many different animals. He also took us on some quieter routes where it felt like we were the only people in the whole park, and we had some amazing moments watching a family of elephants playing together. Sasanka worked hard all day to try and find a leopard for us! We did spent some time waiting at different locations to see if leopards would come out and it paid off finally at the end of the day when we saw one! We were waiting a bit further down the road for it when Sasanka got word it was behind us. He skilfully reversed at full speed to get us in a position to see the leopard clearly in between the other jeeps. We may have missed it without his excellent driving!

        Very disappointing
I paid 112USD for the morning tour booked directly with this company. It was the most expensive thing ive done in Sri Lanka and by far the worst. The driver is a driver and not a guide. Some jeeps had an actual separate guide and a driver, or at least a driver who spoke to them. Our driver barely spoke to us - he didnt tell us his name or explain anything or share any knowledge - and he acted like he hated us most of the time. He spoke to all the other drivers and guides but didnt tell us anything about what was going on or where to look. He didnt point out any bird species or explain any of the nature even so I didnt learn about the wildlife or the park. He also drove us into a bush when all the other jeeps saw a leopard so we didnt get to see it. And he hit another jeep when trying to aggressively drive past. He took a long break so he could sleep rather than using the time to drive us round to see more - someone else in my jeep actually had to wake him up so he would continue. He picked me up at nearly 5.30am, 30mins later than advertised. And we exited the park at 9.15am which seemed earlier than all the other jeeps and back at 9.40am which is earlier than the 10am advertised. We didnt get binoculars or bottled water as advertised on the website either. This service is terrible and a huge waste of money and a disappointment to people who dream of coming a long way to this country for a safari. I'm really upset i missed the opportunity to enjoy a proper safari here and see more animals and hear a good explanation about the nature. It was a drive with a person who doesnt want to do the job. Its not a tour with a professional as on the website or Get Your Guide. Everyone else in the jeep was very disappointed also. I've spoken to many other people since who had great half day tours with other companies due to drivers who made the experience worthwhile by sharing knowledge (whether they saw a leopard or not) so I would not recommend anyone to make the same mistake as I did by booking with this company as if they get the same driver I had, it will be a big waste of money.

        Pretty cool
It was a cool safari, park was a little dry of animals (but we are from South Africa so expectations are a bit high)...still saw some wonderful elephants, birds and iguanas. The lunch was less of a picnic and more a sit down at a local restuarant outside the park. Still good food. Our guide Sesanka was friendly and knowledgable on the trip.

        Tip top safari
Had such a good time doing the 4 hour safari with Yashara as guide. He made sure we got to see all the animals (even leopards) and did routes that were not too busy. Would definetly reccommend :)

Almost missed the ship!!! Don’t do it
We had a tour to the Elephant transit point and a Safari. The tour operator did not answer any messages that we had previously sent The tour we booked was for four hours when we got ready to go onto the jeep we were told it was now 8 hours!! Now I can see you thinking what a bargain no it isn’t when you need to get back to the ship. Our tour should have been with a guide this is not true. We were dropped off at the elephant transit centre and told nothing of where we should go. We sat and sat and eventually the elephants were let in to be fed. We were told our tour would start at 8am. The elephant feeding didn’t start until 10.30 am. So 2.5 hours had already gone. All the tour operator wanted to do was to get money from us for the elephant transit centre and the Safari. He never asked us had we paid for the transit centre ourselves as there was a facility to do that. Do I believe the money he collected went to them? I doubt it. The Safari was good but the driver could not understand we were short of time. There were infact 21 of us in the bus that took us to the Safari. We couldn’t even cut the Safari short as we needed to wait for all their jeeps to return. Every time we went passed their jeeps they kept saying we are going to miss the ship. All the drivers of the jeeps just didn’t understand why we were all getting upset. Their English was extremely poor considering it’s supposed to be In English. After much shouting the drivers returned us to the bus. Our gps said we would arrive at the port shuttle buses at 4.05pm and the last shuttle was 4pm!! Luckily I had friends on the ship so I manage to contact them for them to inform the ship that we would be late. They said they would hold the buses until 4.30pm. If I hadn’t done this we would have missed the ship. The driver of the bus did drive fast to get us back. Others that were in a minivan said they struggled to keep up with us. They passed us as we had to stop at a bank for someone to use the cash machine which wasn’t actually there. We took enough water for a four hour tour not an 8 hour one, it was 30c!!! When we got to the port we literally ran from where we were dropped off to the shuttle bus getting on the bus at 3.59pm. If we hadn’t run or had limited mobility we would have missed the shuttle bus. This is totally unacceptable. We did not get the tour we paid for. Way too stressful to be enjoyed. Would i recommend definitely not

        The best guide!
The guide was the best! Sethan knew all the good spots and had knowledge about the animals! We saw leopard thanks to him ❤️ The “all-inclusive” (breakfast, water, lunch etc) just included a late, local lunch, not enough for a 9, 11, and 13-year old. So I bought breakfast and luckily had water and crackers with me. The pick-up driver had bananas with him in the car back home to the stay home though 👍 Really long day 04-19.30 so I don’t think kids younger than mine could handle it.

        Nice safari, not perfect service
Safari was good enough, although you should always remember that it's a bit random thing if animals will go to your route. I didn't like the fact that instructions were not very clear - tour says it starts at 5am, but I found out we should go at 3am from Ella only when I phoned to service. Another fact - they didn't give us any food or drinks, though it is listed in the tour plan. The driver was a very nice guy though, car is also nice.

Mind blowing to see animals in their own habitat
We were picked up at Ella at 3am to a place near Yala for pick up there at 5am by the safari jeep. We saw lots of different birds, peacocks, marmosets, wild boars, spotted deer, monkeys, water buffalo, elephants and the illusive leopard. Thanks to Sanka and Sunil for an amazing day and getting us to the south coast.

        Great safari and drives! Yashara
We went with Yashara who was absolutely great and super knowledgable. Picked up us bang on time then took us to see so many elephants, and we were lucky enough to see 3no. Leopards. Breakfast and lunch were also delicious. Finally I left my kindle in the truck from the day before and he very very kindly met us in town to drop it back off to me. Which is hugely appreciated. Top guy!

We stayed in the park from 6 am to 11 am.
The whole trip including 30 minutes waiting infront of the park took around 06:30 hours. The timing for the camera shots could have been better sometimes. I would recommend to book the safari with your accommodation as we paid nearly double the price other people did (who entered the park much earlier than we did and saw the leopard). Tickets for the national Park (50 USD per person) and food are not included.
The driver was nice but not very talkative.

We were picked up promptly for 5am morning safari, Ish our driver was professional and most importantly seemed to know how to be in the right place at the right time! We were pretty much first in the park saw a leopard straight away, then saw him again later on a rock sunning himself in full view. He was majestic and mesmerising.

Plenty of other animals followed, almost *unbelievable* - water buffalo bathing, crocodiles, deers gathered in the shade, exotic birds, a family of elephants, wild boars even a chameleon. Ish was informative and excellent at spotting things and listening out for the animals. There were 6 people in total on our safari, and the company meant we pointed more things out to each other! Was ready to return to accomodation by late morning, it was great to be out there early in the day.

All in all an incredible experience. Shehan was brilliant to book with as very responsive on what’s app and happy to answer questions. They are excellent value compared to some other tours offered by Hotels.

We had a fantastic guide in Yasanka who was early for pick up and very efficient in getting us to the gate very near the front.
He was in constant communication with other guides to find where the animals were and because of being on a full day tour could spend more time waiting for the animals.
He was able to spot the animals and give details information on what they were.
Fantastic lunch and were able to spot a leopard outside of the park on the way home to finish a fantastic day.
We were able to see 3 different leopards when many in the park didn’t get to see any.

      Would highly recommend....

We had an amazing Yala safari that far exceeded expectations and it was all thanks to our driver / guide Yashara (ask for him!!). His ability to anticipate where leopards would be and quickly park the jeep in the best position meant we had 4 leopard sightings in one safari tour, including one that walked right next to our jeep and another that roamed by with its prey in its mouth. This is an experience that our kids will be talking about for a long time.

I booked our safari in Yala with Shenan Safari which also included a driver/guide, Yashara. This is invaluable for you to both learn about the park and its inhabitants, and to have the highest chance of spotting the animals you want to see. During our time at Yala National Park, besides buffaloes, monitor lizards, crocodiles, deers, wild pigs and birds we saw a leopard on our second drive and were lucky enough for her to walk right out into the trail ahead of us, walk up towards our jeep before going into the forest. We also got lucky and saw a herd of breeding female elephants with a baby. Than you for our experienced driver, Yashara.

We booked the seven-hour morning safari, which was a unique experience.
Our driver Hicchi was great, we always felt comfortable and he went to great lengths to make sure we saw a leopard.
And indeed, after only 2 hours we saw a leopard at close range.
We would book the tour again and can highly recommend it.

We booked our Yala Safari tour with Shehan Safari through reading reviews online. Guide Sasanka was simply the best (so ask for him). A fun personality providing a safe jeep tour to make sure your comfortable. He assured us throughout the trip and had fantastic knowledge to share about all the animals. He really went out of his way to ensure that you got to the best view as he jostled for space with other 4X4 jeeps. A strategic driver this way that made the trip special as we saw every animal we had hoped to see on the list, but he made extra efforts to get in the best positions to see leopards up close but also the elusive bear. As drivers exchange information on animal locations in the park you can tell he is highly respected and has a great connection to make sure you get a first view and approach of animals. He made this the best safari we had on Sri Lanka.

It was an unforgettable day in Yala national park with a great guide, Yashara. He is a great jeep driver, and he does his very best to show the most animals possible. He shown many of them and answered all our questions about the species. And thanks to his efforts (and also thanks to luck, beacause it is not working every time), we had the chance to see three times the bear and the famous Leopard… we will never forget this moment !
      Thank you.

The safari was a great experience especially thanks to our driver Yasha. He was making sure we were able to see the most animals and would only stop for things that were actually valuable to see. His driving was perfect and not agressive as I've seen other drivers and he spotted all the animals so that we could take photos and observe. Best experience in Sri Lanka.
