About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Christophe V0 contributions2 different tours - both very impressiveWe’ve actually done 2 different tours. The first one was a half day tour. We went to Fort George, then to some ‘Outlander’ sites including the battlefield of Culloden. A nice first day, for me especially the background of the battle was interesting - our guide Stuart brought it like it happened yesterday. We didn’t go to Loch Ness, because the next day our group ran the Loch Ness marathon. So the day after the run, we booked the North Highland tour which was really awesome. Some highlights: Dornoch is absolutely beautiful, Dunrobin Castle is very impressive (if you’re there at the right time you should definitely watch the falcon show), the views when doing this scenic tour are astonishing and of course we couldn’t spend our post-marathon day without having a dram or 2 at Balblair distillery. Both trips were super well organised - there were aeven complimentary snacks and water in the vans.Written October 7, 2024
- k8mnstrcommerce0 contributionsGreat private tour with SusanWe booked a private tour directly from the Website, because we couldn't find the group of attractions we wanted to prioritize leaving from Inverness anywhere. We were not cruise passengers and we wanted to leave from Inverness. Susan was our guide, and she was delightful. She took us everywhere we wanted to go and had some wonderful suggestions of her own. We had such a wonderful time in Inverness, and Susan was an important part of that.Written September 21, 2024
- Sweeps860 contributionsSights as promised. Cost extra for the castles. The list of sights were as described, very efficient. If you wanted to see the castles or Culloden museum you had to pay your own admission fee. This was really just a ride to the sights with narration. It would have been perfect except for the narration was mumbled, a little accented and even when asked to be louder we could not hear in the back seat. Sorry Fred, you were a nice guy but need to figure out how to get sound to the backseat. Maybe a headset and amplifier would help. Overall disappointedWritten September 10, 2024
- Y6547KDtiffanys0 contributionsEvery stop is worth itGood variety of activities. Would like a bit more time on Loch Ness - maybe another stop and photo op. Really enjoyed Cawdor castle - is there an accompanying village? Got to see a hairy coo, and really liked the cairns.Written September 9, 2024
- catherinepU6411DS0 contributionsThe best excursion of our whole tripMy husband and I booked a one day shore excursion tour from Invergordon. Our guide, Jamie , from Spirit Journeys picked us up at the cruise port gates and whisked us off for a wonderful day visiting several Highland sites : the Culloden Battlefield, the Clava Cairns and Cawdor Castle, which was exquisite. It was only us, so it was like a private tour that he customized for us and even added several extra stops such as Inverness itself, Fort George, the Culloden Viaduct, as well as a drive along Loch Ness, and through Beauly. It was the most fantastic tour, and Jamie avoided the big tour bus groups, and pointed us to the best things at each site, so that we used the time well and saw lots. Jamie was very friendly, knowledgeable, and adjusted the time at each site to suit us, and then delivered us back to our cruise ship on time. It was the best excursion of our whole cruise. Thank you, Jamie, your were the best guide ever!Written August 30, 2024
- OnAir539124524200 contributionsYou won’t be disappointed! We had booked a maximum 6 person van tour and were fortunate enough to find it was just the two of us. Our guide Stuart Lovell was absolutely fantastic. He was engaging in all the right ways & understood our humour. He let us make decisions on what was most important to us and guided us expertly with his vast knowledge. Great history class. Walking the Culloden battlefield with him was so moving & left you with a true sense of what happened between the Jacobites & British govt forces leading up to & after the battle. We cannot commend him enough. As must do for sure.Written August 28, 2024
- Explore5882340 contributionsUnbelievably wonderful tour!Absolutely one of the best private tours we’ve done! Mike was personable and very knowledgeable. He’s a local and has had years of experience in hospitality. We laughed a lot and learned a lot about local life and history of the area. He had us back to the ship in plenty of time even though we had a tight schedule. We were never stressed about the time schedule. I would use his company every time!Written August 9, 2024
- munchkinandpebbles0 contributionsFunny and engaging tour guideTony was an amazing guide. He was waiting for us outside the port exit as promised. We have young kids so he made great recommendations to keep them occupied. We toured Cawdor Castle, Clava Cairns, Loch Ness. The kids love animals so he took us to a local farm to see Highland cows, alpaca, sheep and horses. He also took us to a great photo point for a view of the Highlands. Highly recommend Tony for a great engaging tour!Written July 21, 2024
- sandramE7364GF0 contributionsAwesome tour guideStuart was awesome! Our cruise ship docked in Invergordon and we were picked up at the port. Stuart was punctual, professional, knowledgeable about the area, and very friendly. Unfortunately, it was raining pretty hard that day for most of the day. We chose not to go to the distillery because we do not drink and that was not something that interested us. Because of the rain, we also chose not to do the outside tour of the battlefield but did tour the inside of the museum/visitor center. Stuart found other sites that were interesting to fill our time and made it enjoyable. My only criticism is that we were not notified by the company when we booked the tour that we needed to prebook tickets ourselves to the Urquhart Castle so we couldn't visit. The information we were given did say that the entry fees were not included so we knew we needed to pay but did not realize we needed to prebook. However, we were able to visit the Cawdor Castle which was lovely. I would definitely recommend this company, but I would double check with them upon booking to see if any of the sites need to be prebooked on your ownWritten July 19, 2024
- scubaklly0 contributionsIsle of Skye day tourOur tour guide, Roy, met us promptly and was very friendly and informative. We had a great day tour of the Isle of Skye with him. I would 100% recommend this tour company as well as Roy! He tailored the tour to meet our timelines, being on a cruise ship, and everything was seamless. Thanks for a great day!Written July 14, 2024
- adamcD3459EI0 contributionsGreat guide, great itinerary, and great pacing for a day tour through the HighlandsAn amazing day! Our guide Lewis was exceptional - so professional, knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. We saw Cairns, Urquhardt, Highland Cows, Cawdor, Beuly, Culloden, and more. Lewis got us there, told us all about it on the way, brought us in and showed us exactly where to go and helped us know how to make the best use of time. A great pace for the day - nice mixture of being efficient with travel and sequence plus also taking time at some places. As an American family of 4, there is no way we could have recreated this trip; we wouldn’t have known where to go and what we were looking at, not to mention we don’t want to rent a car and drive on the left side of the road! This tour was definitely one of the high points of our 10 day trip through Scotland.Written July 9, 2024
- Mulleach0 contributionsIllegally Parked in Disabled BayGrumpy Driver who parked in a Disabled Bay at Culloden passing visitor spoke to him about not having Disabled Permit He admitted he did not have one. He did move the vehicle after taking us to visitor center which proves he was in the wrong! None of us are disabled. The Guy spoke to him again when we were walking to the Battlefield, seemed annoyed to be found out. Poor from a Local Tour Guide who seemed to think the Law does not apply to him!! AvoidWritten June 21, 2024
- erin a0 contributionsWe saw clava clairns, cawdor castle and gardens, the Loch Ness, had a nice lunch in Inverness and did some tastings. Our guide was so nice! He was friendly and informative and didn't waste our time doing things that weren't the best bang for our buck. We loved the whole day!Written June 15, 2024
- paulsW3016YU0 contributionsPerfect! The tour was excellent. Our guide, Iqbal, was knowledgeable and very very kind. Our kids loved him! We went to all the stops we wanted to go to and were able to skip things we weren’t interested in. Great stop for lunch and Iqbal also had snacks and water. 100% recommend.Written June 13, 2024
