Absolutely brilliant day! Highly, highly recommend Waka Abel Tasman for a fantastic and unique experience in a very beautiful part of the country. Our guide Thomas was fantastic, sharing fascinating stories about the landmarks we saw as well as teaching and encouraging adults and kids alike. Feeling the speed and power of the Waka gliding through the water when lots of paddlers in synch is a cool experience, and something different even for those who’ve done lots of kayaking etc. Terrific day, highly recommend

Always a pleasure to be out on the water with you guys! Really enjoyed our paddle today, especially enjoyed Thomas's korero about the rohe. Knowledgeable and personable. My Mana Wāhine group loved it and some are talking about joining Sundays social paddles :)

We signed up to an outing with Waka Abel Tasman on the spur of the moment when in Kaiteretere and were not disappointed.

Callum, our guide, met us at the ramp and stepped us through paddling the Waka as a team. The experience was excellent, Callum was very knowledgeable and the equipment was excellent. We felt completely safe all of the time and loved the experience of visiting beaches, getting close up with the natural beauty and history of the area. Paddling a waka was the perfect way to experience all of these things.

The knowledge of the local history and the unique natural surroundings really made the experience of paddling a waka come alive.

The tour was just over 3 hours - we paddled to Split Apple Rock and back. I would do this again and I would recommend this experience to locals and foreign and local tourists, kids included.

Absolutely enjoyed our waka experience with Thomas guiding us yesterday. I'm not a confident sea swimmer and was a bit apprehensive but Thomas put us all at ease with his enthusiasm and expertise. It was a great way to explore the area and learn about the history behind it. We've lived in NZ for over 5 years now and this was probably one of our favourite ways to immerse ourselves more in Maori culture and learn to speak the language a bit more confidently. We also loved the little stop on the beach to enjoy some kai and doing the haka whilst re-entering Kaiteretere was pretty epic.

Thanks Thomas and the entire team at Waka Abel Tasman for such a positive experience - would love to return to do it again with my other friends & whanau next time!

Fantastic experience with Lee-Anne this morning. Would definitely recommend the walk tour. Even our 2 teenagers were impressed! So great to be able to support a family owned business who go out of their way to make you feel so welcome.

Thank you for a wonderful day on the ocean! What a fun activity it was for our business to do, as we farewelled two very special people who are retiring. Our group was large (approximately 30) and you handled it superbly. It was good to learn more about Maori culture and language at the same time as exercising, doing some team building and having a few laughs.

I wasn’t convinced when I found what my wife had booked as it seemed quite expensive for a paddling experience. However, it was worth every penny and was fun, informative and really interesting to find out about the Maori culture. I loved every minute of it and the respect shown for the environment, each other and the sea were totally inspirational which I did not expect to feel and rates as one of my favourite experiences on a long visit to NZ. The beach we went to at Split Apple Rock was beautiful. Thanks for a lovely day with you and your extended family. Kia Ora😎

This was the highlight of our week's holiday in the area for all 6 of us! We are a family of 4 with two kids aged 7 and 9 and did this with my sister and brother-in-law visiting from UK. It was awesome to do something different and therefore memorable together. The owners of this operation are so welcoming and clearly loving of and knowledgeable about their home area which shines through. Great mixture of paddling (along with commands in maori)and listening to interesting stories and history of the area. My sons especially enjoyed the short display we learned to do with our paddles on arrival at new shores as if we were a traditional visiting waka party! Love that Maori culture was so integral to the whole morning in language, paddling traditions, stories and land. Highly recommended for all ages and nationalities!

Having a Maori experience that contains getting to know of each other, that sets a dependence on "team".
Lee Anne was so passionate about her waka her environment and her culture.
Being out on the water and Kia Tau was a chance to all be on a level of encouragement.
Manaakitanga was Lee Annes main gift, and this was apparent in everything she done.
From jackets to booties, Communication before hand, and on the water.
Even in the preparation of hot drink, straight from the garden.
When people are passionate, it shows effortlessly - Grateful for this opportunity.
