Naomi was great in helping us to navigate the Tokyo train system and interesting aspects Japanese culture. Naomi was very helpful in answering our questions. After the tour we were confident to spend the next few days using the train system to explore many of the different areas of Tokyo. - Vacation617526923590 contributionsExcellent 6 hour walking tour of TokyoWe had the pleasure of having Lily as our guide on a recent visit to Tokyo. Lily was punctual, waiting for us in our hotel lobby before the set departure time, where she gave us a brief explanation of the day's itinerary. During the tour Lily was very informative with excellent knowledge about the sites we visited and their cultural significance. She also directed us to good lunch and refreshment stops along the way. Her English is excellent, she is personable and was happy to share insights about what life is like living in Tokyo. I would have no hesitation in recommending Lily to anyone wanting to do a walking tour of Tokyo.Written January 17, 2025

She was punctual, clear and helpful in her emails leading up to the tour and so patient on the day. We have 3 boys under 11yrs and Kyoko knew how to make little choices that made our day even better. She gave us great insights and took us places we would not have otherwise known about. Great service and wonderful day.Written January 17, 2025

- jkumble0 contributionsA great day in OkayamaI had an amazing day in Okayama with Mari, who was an incredible guide. Mari is an excellent communicator. She reached out before our tour to ask me about my preferences and to offer suggestions. When I asked for some restaurant and shopping recommendations, she gave me wonderful options. Before we began our Okayama adventure, we had a brief chat and discussed our plan for the day. We went over our route (Mari had maps and photos) and then headed out to Korakuen Garden. We had a great time seeing the crane aviary and the lovely gardens, ponds, and streams - lots of great photo ops. Korakuen is beautifully designed. There is even a bamboo grove where we took even more photos. We stopped at one of the gorgeous buildings at Korakuen to sit on cushions on the tatami covered floor and we played Tosenkyo - a traditional Japanese game. We drank authentic amazake out of Bizen pottery mugs and had a sweet treat at a charming tea house right on the grounds of Korakuen. Then we set out to see the wonderfully restored Okayama Castle (the Crow Castle) with its black exterior. Mari was a superior guide. She is smart, friendly, organized, enthusiastic, and knows Okayama and its history well. Her English is stellar. We had a great time exploring Okayama together.Written January 13, 2025

We had an amazing trip to Nikko. We were asking a lot to do the shrines and the waterfalls in the same day but our guide, Yoshii, recommended we hire a car to make this possible. I’m glad we did as we only had the one day and it was great to see it all. We visited the shrines during the second half of the day, which was slightly rushed. Yoshii did a good job of adapting to our changes/ requests and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.

We had the most magnificent day with our guide, Michio, his experience navigating the rail systems in Tokyo city and out to Nikko on the Shinkansen evident right from the start. Michio was both personable and informative at every point of the day. A highlight for us was lunch in Nikko right beside Lake Chuzenji where handmade fresh soba noodles were made onsite and we chose to have them with local rainbow trout, grilled on hot coals. It was a meal we won't forget!
Michio guided us seamlessly to the ropeway, waterfalls, stunning river walk and imperial summer villa at all times mindful of any special requests we had and our comfort. Back in Tokyo at the end of the day Michio even suggested somewhere for dinner, another authentic Japanese experience. We are looking forward to having Michio guide us later in our Japanese stay in Yokohama he is that good. Thank you Michio!

I really thank you for your review about my guiding your family around Nikko area. It was also a great
experience for me learning a lot about the importance of strong family ties. That gives me another encouragement
to exert my best and be of help to distinguished foreign guests, especially families traveling together, who
kindly chose Japan as tour destination.
Once again, with deepest gratitude to the comment, I wish you and your family continue exciting journey in
Japan. Minoru

I've been to Japan many times myself and have always wanted to take my parents to show them a bit of why I enjoyed visiting that country so frequently. This year, I was finally able to coax my parents to book a flight out to Japan with me. This was my first guided tour experience in Japan and I have to say that it was really well done especially considering that my group primarily consisted of senior citizens. Emi was very knowledgeable of the temples and shrines that we visited. I learned a lot more than I ever would have in just visiting Nikko and reading the placards on my own. I highly recommend this tour for those wanting to get some education out of their visit to Nikko!

Hi, thank you very much for joining the tour to Nikko!
I am glad to have the message from you.
It was a stunningly beautiful day and we had a wonderful time together!
Please remember the memory of that day to see the group photo with lots of sunshine.
Nikko means "a shiny sunny day" so I think you will never forget that day!
Hope to see you next time in Japan!

This is a full day tailored to your interest, time and the weather. Michio filled the day with engaging background of the region and discussion of Japan past and present. He is
well travelled and a man of broad knowledge and keen wit. The trip was well structured, leisurely, and we shared a great lunch.
At the end of the day I felt I had seen a significant part of Japanese history and had a better understanding of Japanese people.

What a wonderful day with Yumi Aoyama! She met us at the train station and had pre-purchased our bus passes so we could get right on the bus to the waterfalls. We went in the morning to avoid the rush and it worked out perfectly. We spent the rest of the day touring the shrines and temples. She knew the area well and was able to give us information about mant places as we walked around. It seemed like we were always just ahead of the crowds. She found us a traditional Japanese restaurant for lunch and the whole day was just perfect. She waited with us until we boarded our train. I am so glad we booked this tour! Yumi was an excellent guide.

My family had an unforgettable experience touring Nikko with Hiromi Murata on November 7, 2024. Nikko has beautiful and scenic landscape that will mesmerise you. It has a long and rich cultural history linked with historic figures of Japan.
Hiromi is a fantastic local guide who has an incredible depth of knowledge about Nikko. She truly helped us understand the finer details of this beautiful place – from its rich history and culture to its breathtaking landscapes and hidden gems. We highly recommend her.
Thank you, Hiromi, for a wonderful day in Nikko!

Our guide was amazing. Very helpful from first contact via email, to meeting us at the hotel. We had some railway things to sort, and this was no problem. Our guide was knowledgeable and listened to our needs. He made connections with us and had great knowledge of all places we wanted to visit. His instruction for subway and other trains was invaluable! He helped us ollect temple and shrine stamps which we will treasure forever. I pai tō rā. It was a wonderful day. Ngā mihi nui (many thanks and much kindness)

I went to Nikko with Guide Minoru Asai, and he was phenomenal! Nikko is absolutely gorgeous and he filled me in on the history and background. It was also highly personalized and he worked around what I wanted to do, which made a huge difference as I wanted to go see some of the more natural sights that other people don’t typically go to. Completely worth the trip, and hope to return to Nikko in the future!

I am very much honored to hear that you loved Nikko not only by its gorgeous scenary but also by its history and background. I also learned a lot from you hearing what you are studying and what you plan to do in your career and life towards the future. It was very exciting and I wish all those plans will come true. Please continue enjoying visiting more of the natural sights in the world, and I wish you also return back to Japan and Nikko in the future. Minoru Asai

Hi, I am not clear about whether this private tour from Tokyo to Nikko includes the transport cost from Tokyo to Nikko return? Or does the additional cost pp only include the guide meeting us in Tokyo and assisting with transport arrangements?
Written June 19, 2024
Hi, there. We are a group of 4 interested about this tour, however, before we decide, just a few questions. Hope to hear from you soon so we can decide whether or not to book.
1. There are a lot of 'Not Included' items in the list. Please list down each additional payment per person that is needed i.e. entry fees and all other additional costs to the different places so we can manage our budgets for this. I understand that we need to pay for the tour guide as well?
2. We are staying at Asakusa, so for the drop off, we would like to be dropped off at our hotel at Asakusa. Is that fine with you?
Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
