      Great Food and Good Vibes
Just finished the river cruise, and even though it rained a bit, it was still a great experience. There were quite a few people, but it didn’t feel too packed. The lunch was really nice, crispy tempura and fresh sashimi, exactly what we expected. Everything was well-organized, and the rain didn’t ruin the vibe. Overall, it’s a good way to spend a few hours with some good food and nice views. Would definitely recommend!

Had a great photoshoot in Shinjuku Garden! The photographer knew all the best spots for beautiful shots. It felt relaxed, not staged. Photos came out better than we expected. It was the perfect way to create lasting memories of our time in Tokyo.

Half Day Tour with wonderful guide, Yuka
Our guide Yuka was exceptionally knowledgeable and patient with us! The half day tour was fully customized to our interests and lasted for 4hrs - just enough to get a sampling of all that Tokyo has to offer. We highly recommend using this tour service, especially if this will be your first time visiting Japan as it was for us.

      Amazing trip
We just returned from Japan after visiting from 10/19-11/02/24. This was our first trip overseas, not just Japan. The overall experience was amazing and was easily the best trip that we’ve ever taken. My wife and I went on the Japan Discovery tour as a private group, and I would highly recommend going this route if you can afford it. Since the tour only included us, we were able to make several changes/adjustments to the itinerary and even fit in some additional activities (e.g. Kabuki theater). The hotels that we stayed in were all top notch, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The tour was well organized and prompted us to explore sites and activities that we would never have considered on our own. Neither of us speak Japanese and were unfamiliar with many of the local customs, but our guides were incredibly helpful and made it a smooth experience for us both. Our first tour guide was Miya Mikami in the Tokyo/Hakone areas. Miya-san was an amazing guide. She was always helpful and would frequently check to ensure that we had everything we needed. She was knowledgeable about Japanese history, best places to shop, various restaurants based on food preferences, etc. She was always happy to answer our questions, regardless of the topic. She went out of her way to make sure we always had the best view of wherever we went and took multiple pictures of us throughout the tour. I would highly recommend Miya-san as a tour guide, private or otherwise. Our second guide was Naoko Kito. She covered Kanazawa, Takayama, and Shirakawa-go. Naoko-san was also very nice and accommodating. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we were able to communicate effectively 99% of the time. Naoko-san also tried to ensure that we were always satisfied and having a great time. She gave my wife and I handmade tote bags to carry the items we purchased, and she also taught us how to do origami. We had to take two trains on the day that we left the area. The first train got delayed on the tracks, and we were very close to missing the Shinkansen at our scheduled time. Naoko-san quite literally ran through the train station to guide us through. When we reached the ticket entry area, our tickets wouldn’t work. She then spoke with the guard and got us through. Since we didn’t know how to reach the right platform, Naoko-san convinced the guard to let her guide us. We got on the Shinkansen as it was leaving, then suddenly heard someone shout our name. Before we could react, Naoko-san had jumped on the Shinkansen to give me a bag that I dropped in the station. Overall, she went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy and I would definitely recommend her as a guide. Fair warning - she walks very fast so try to keep up. 😂 Our third guide was Yukari Onishi for Kyoto/Nara. Yuka-san was an amazing guide as well. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Kyoto/Japan, and she always had interesting tidbits of information to supplement our tours. She was very friendly and accommodating and she spoke/understood English very well. Yuka-san was always happy to take us wherever we wanted to go, regardless of the scheduled itinerary. She was always on time, but she never made us feel rushed. She also took multiple photos of us and made sure we had the best possible backgrounds. At the end of our tour, she gave us several postcards that represented each of the areas we saw together. Overall, Yuka-san was an amazing guide and I highly recommend her for any upcoming travels.

A Perfect Bonding Experience with My Daughter
This past Tuesday, my daughter and I had an amazing time on an anime tour in Suginami, Japan. We visited an anime school, which was such a unique experience. My daughter, who’s a huge anime fan, was thrilled, and it was so special for me to learn more about her passion. Seeing where the animations are created and understanding the whole process—from storyboarding to final production—was eye-opening. It felt great to share this experience with her, and I even learned a lot myself! Our tour guide was fantastic and took the time to recommend some anime movies we can watch together. I can’t wait to dive into them and bond with her even more. Overall, this tour was the perfect way to connect with my daughter over something she loves. If you’re traveling with a teen who’s into anime, I highly recommend it—it’s a great bonding experience and a lot of fun!

      Studio Ghibli museum insight tour
Hitomi was very thorough explaining how the museum works, where to start, good places to take photos outside before entering (no photos allowed inside). She also provided other locations to visit that were related to or inspired by studio Ghibli works. Overall very thorough and very kind

      Great whisky experience
Excellent experience during my first trip to Japan. Shun was our tour guide. Taught us about the history of Japanese Whisky (much better than the stuff I've had in America). And each whisky we drank tasted unique. Would highly recommend.

Worry every penny, Relax and let them organize everything
Very impressed! Like others have mentioned already, getting these tickets direct is a nightmare being a non Japenise resident. Slick operation, meticulous attention to detail as you would expect from Japan. Granted you pay considerably more than the face value but everything is organized for you so you don’t have to worry. Which imo is worth every penny if time isn’t on your side. Lovely magical cafe you meet in prior to the tour which was fantastic.

      Sumo Tournament Sept 2024
This was a fantastic thing to do. The guide, Yasuhiro, was excellent and full of interesting information about sumo, its history and the wrestlers. I fully expected to be bored after about half an hour, but wasn't. I highly recommend attending this if you are in Tokyo when a tournament is on.

We had a fantastic experience on this tour! We visited two restaurants, and both served delicious food. Our guide did a great job explaining each dish, which added a lot to the experience. It ended up just being the two of us, with no other people in the group, which made it feel even more personalized. Everything was perfect—highly recommended!

This was a great tour! Izumi was wonderful, very knowledgeable and nice, and chose amazing dishes for us to try. We particularly liked the second restaurant, where the selections were completely unfamiliar to us and sooooo tasty. 10/10 would recommend and would do this again. Go on an empty stomach!

My private tour w/ Muneko was nothing short of amazing! It was just her and I wandering through the alleys of Shibuya, visiting really cool Izakayas. I was able to try so much good Japanese food at 3 different establishments I would not have even known existed. It was nice having Muneko help me experience what it feels like to be a local in Japan. She was fun, vibrant and even helped this rookie finish his sake when he had a bit too much to drink lol. If you want a genuine Japanese food experience, book this tour! You won’t be disappointed:)

I booked 2 tours from Viator and they ended up being from this same company, (Japan Awaits), which was great. I had no idea at the time of booking but both of the tours turned out to be amazing so I'm glad this company is so consistent with their tours.

I don't normally write reviews but since these tours were such great experiences, I feel like I need to write a review for this company. First, I will write a review for the Ebisu Food Tour (the other tour we went on was the Aged Whiskey Tasting Tour). The tour ended up being much more than just a food tour. I have been to other food tours and this one is very different since you get to see a lot of the sites and attractions in the area and not just eat food the entire time.

I also really enjoyed how personal this tour was. It ended up only being the 3 of us in the group and they still went through with the tour. We met the tour guide at Ebisu Station and we went to the Ebisu Garden Place and got to see a great view overlooking Tokyo there. And if you like beer, you'll have the option to visit the Yebisu Beer Museum, which was perfect for our group since we love beer. It was the highlight of the tour for us. After visiting the museum, we went to this alley with lots of food stalls and were able to try some tasty Japanese food there such as okonomiyaki pancake and skewers. We were stuffed and after trying the different types of food, we decided we wanted something sweet and the tour guide took us to a very tasty local ice cream shop.

The whole tour was amazing. We loved the food and being able to talk to our very sweet tour guide who took us around to see the local side of Tokyo. It was very interesting to learn about Ebisu and why the Japanese people love this area and why so many people want to live here. Having a better understanding of local culture is not something you can experience on your own so I highly recommend this Ebisu food tour.
