My husband and I did the Geisha Experience today and we absolutely loved it. By chance we had the session to ourselves and the performance was very interactive and informative. The English translator assisting the Geisha was fantastic and the Geisha was very passionate about the traditional practice and its value in modern day society. Excellent value for money and a great activity for all.

When I arrived at the pleasant chaya, Nami dressed me in a kimono. While Nami's kimono was black and slender, the one I was given to wear was white with red flowers, a kimono for a young girl. Nami and her associate, whose name is Ai, and who called herself a "geisha in training", were warm and attentive. As advertised, I was offered a choice of alcholic Japanese beverage or tea (I chose green tea) was served a variety of snacks. I learned to walk in my kimona: feet sliding, turning with a subtle kick, left hand placed over the right. Nami sang and danced, and then played a few simple amusing games. Before I left, she brought me to see Sendai Shira, "Lucky Boy". An amusing end to a special experience.

This experience turned out to be one of the best things we did in Japan. Took a train from Yokohama to Oomri Station. The "tea restaurant" is a very short walk from the station. We purchased the upgraded option which included a lunch and drinks. Plenty to eat and drink. One of the workers spoken enough English to translate what the Geisha was saying and wanting us to do. She sang, danced and we played a few games (which included a penalty if you lost). This is not a performance necessarily as we were told to relax and have fun together. A photo op at the end concluded our time. There we 11 people attending, one Geisha and the one hostess/translator. Everyone had fun.

I cannot recommend enough this experience it is a must do if you are visiting Tokyo. It was a very unique experience, the hosts were very friendly, watching the traditional dances and songs were very interesting and the games were pretty fun too, it had a great atmosphere and I left even more interested in the history of Geisha. This is something you won't get anywhere else in the world so it is well worth booking!

The hostess Nami and her assistant Yuki we're very accommodating and energetic with our Geisha this morning,

We met at 12.45 as suggested and greeted very warmly and sat down in our small group.

The language barrier was addressed with Google translate sparsely and she gave us an appreciation of this traditional experience.

My friends thought it was one of the best experiences they had.

Nami went out of her way to make us feel welcome and helped us find a store we wanted to go to, and gave us a orogami gift to part ways.

My advice for travellers is to pick up a few words of Japanese, like yes, no to make it easier for them and also bring a little souvenir gift for your guides.

Can't say enough good things about these lovely people Nami and Yuki.

A few days ago, I had the opportunity to enjoy the Geisha Experience at Chaya. It was absolutely awesome!! I would HIGHLY recommend everyone to check this out. There was one geisha performing and she was so friendly, respectful and entertaining. Even though she couldn't speak English very well, she had an awesome translation software that allowed her to communicate great. Since there weren't as many audience members on the day of my attendance, my friend and I were able to dress up in kimonos, take pictures with the geisha and remained dressed up until the end of the show. Wonderful show! Can't say enough of how great this time was spent :)

Very interesting. We were the only two in the afternoon on a weekday as they said it gets crowded during the dinner reservations. The geisha was super friendly and the hostess was very good at translating both ways. Overall they always kept you entertained and interested with games and contests. Another good thing is taking pics and videos throughout the whole visit was allowed. Definitely would recommend to anyone visiting Tokyo.

This experience was cool but I wish that we could have seen the Geisha perform a bit more. There was a lot of waiting and downtime as it was only the one geisha and an assistant.

There were 9 of us (the room could hold 20) there at this particular time and each of us was dressed separately in front of everyone in a kimono for the event. This took at least 35 minutes. I was the first one dressed so had to wait until everyone was finished. Next, the geisha came around individually to each table and had us put a sticker on the city/country we were from- which is cool because we were from all over the world but also it took FOREVER.

Then she performed two dances- one was a man's dance (as geisha's origianlly were male) and then a female dance with masks. After the mask dance, she went around to every table and had everyone try on the masks and took pictures for everyone. Again, really cool but it took FOREVER.

For the last activity we each played a song/cup game with her in front of everyone else. Again, it was fun. I had to wait at least 25 minutes while watching everyone else play. I was the last one to participate.

I'm not sure I would go to this again. I really enjoyed the performance aspect of it (dance) and wish there would have been more of the geisha-esque aspects. Maybe more of the historical aspects or process of a geisha explained. I feel there was a lot of downtime. Perhaps if there had been one more assistant things would have been more efficient and progressed in a more timely manner.

Had a lot of fun! Nani dressed us in kimono, performed two traditional dances and played two fun games. Nani did not know a lot of English, but she used a translation app and was able to get her point across. This is more of an interaction than a show so if you have social anxiety it may not be for you.
