SCAM - this trip does not exist. Turned up to non-existing trip!! Wasted time... Still awaiting Viator to give explanation as Viator don't have any proper complaints proceedure.

      Don't book, it's a scam
Don't book. Don't book. This is a total scam. We turned up and were met with an empty house. A few moments later an old man turned up on a bicycle and said it was his house. He said he didn't know the trip. But he called someone he said was his niece who told us she ran a proper company doing this tour. That we had been scammed and her company was real. Clearly the old man the niece were in on it as how else would he contact her. Only one 5 star review on all Sayuki trips and all that same. Others also were scammed. Look at reviews not just take TripAdvisor recommendations. Don't book.

A No Show and No Refund (so far)
In the first place, we never received any information about a teahouse venue from Sayuki, the tour operator. When I called Viator, I was advised to go to the venue printed on my ticket. When I did, a Do Not Enter notice was taped to the door, along with a telephone number. We rang the number to be told by the landlord that his premises were not occupied by the tour operator any more. The telephone listed on our ticket is answered (in Japanese) with this recorded message: ‘This number is no longer in service’. Since the date of our experience, I have discovered on both Trip Advisor and Viator new reviews that indicate a number of other people have been similarly disappointed. It seems this has been going on for months and was not just a one-off. I wish these reviews had been available before I booked in January. Beware: the tour operator offers other experiences on both sites, as well as her own website, and on Facebook. I would not recommend booking any of these. So far, Viator has refused to refund my money, until the tour operator agrees to it. Since she is not responding to customer queries, I have little hope that she will respond to Viator or of seeing my £400+ again. Trip Advisor, at least has now stopped offering this product. I would NOT recommend booking with Sayuki.

Do NOT book this, it seems to be closed
We paid over £400 for an experience we never received. We tried several times to contact the tour operator by email, WhatsApp, Direct Message, and telephone, as advised on our ticket, in order to confirm the venue for our Geisha dinner on 8 April 2023. We never got a reply. In desperation, we called the Viator help line at 1 p.m. Maximus at Customer Service advised us to go to the venue on the ticket. We did that. The house was totally dark and there was a sign on the door saying Do Not Enter, along with a phone number. When we called the phone number on the door, the landlord informed us that the tour operator was no longer at that address and there were no events planned. We contacted Viator immediately at 5:30. Beverly indicated I would get a refund. When I checked her confirmation, it was for over £300 less than I had paid. When I contacted Viator a third time to request the full amount of my refund,, Mae told me that I had to contact the tour operator. I recapped my experience. Still, she insisted that I call the tour operator. Which I did yesterday and today. The recording (in Japanese) says: This number is no longer in service. I have tried contacting Viator again today, only to find that my booking has mysteriously disappeared along with my ability to contact the company at all! When I try to access Customer Support, the link does not work. Looking at the booking site today, I can see that someone has now posted pictures of the Do Not Enter sign on the door of the venue. My advice is NOT to book this experience, because you will not get the experience you paid for AND Viator does not wish to maintain contact with this dissatisfied customer, anyway.

      Scam — Don’t Book
This booking is a scam. I paid $546.00, and the geisha place doesn’t exist. Emailed, Facebook and Instagram messaged, and called Sayuki many, many times. I got no response or answers. TripAdvisor also tried to contact the Geisha place (Sayuki) on my behalf with no success. Save yourself the time and aggravation.

SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. We were scammed. Paid $600 and there was no dinner provided. We went to the location at the time of our reservation and no one was there - only a "Do not enter" sign on a run down house in a cramped alley. Vendor was unresponsive to several attempts to contact. When we called Viator, we were told sales were final and we would not get our money back. We just lost $600. BEWARE. SCAM.

      Wonderful Experience
My husband and I took our first trip to Japan over Thanksgiving and wanted to experience its unique culture, so dinner with a geisha was at the top of our list! Sayuki made everything so easy. She arranged dinner reservations at a traditional tea house (with tatami mats, rice paper screens, and great food), our amazing geisha, and an English translator. Our geisha was so kind and sweet. She even performed a few traditional Japanese dances for us. It was a special, once in a lifetime experience. I highly recommend it!

The most perfect way to spend my birthday
Thank you SO MUCH for yesterday’s experience and for going above and beyond to make this such a magical birthday! I’m bringing home two beautiful kimonos and three obis from our time together. It really was an experience of a lifetime and I can’t thank you enough for making that happen!

Learn about Japanese culture and history at the antique market !
My friends and I had a lovely experience walking and learning from Sayuki about the different treasures we found at the antique market. I was quite interested in learning about the different Kimonos they were selling there. We found some long sticks that looked like old pipes, luckily Sayuki was there to tell us that they were old portable ink holders! The antique market was a nice and fun way to learn what people in Japan have been collecting from different eras. She gave us quite a lot of interesting insight about the different kimonos they were selling there. Sayuki is a geisha, she could tell us which one would be worn by a geisha or not. You will learn so much about Japanese goods and culture! If you are not strong in Japanese( like me), do not worry! Sayuki will explain and also translate for you it in English. They sell anything from cutlery, kimonos, head ornaments, jewelry, and other interesting antique goods! For the trip we all brought ower own masks! Highly recommend this trip if you are in Koto, Tokyo!

An evening of entertainment and education
I did not know what to expect but it was a splendid evening of entertainment and education of the geisha traditions. Sayuki told us about geisha lifestyle, Her own story as an Australian coming to japan and then dedicating her life to become a geisha. The music and dance were my favorite. we even played some games traditionally played in geisha houses.

saw kabuki and learned about its history from a geisha
Kabuki show is often mentioned among the things every foreign visitor should see in Japan. So I visited the theatre, and what more, with geisha as the guide! The interior was interestingly different from theatres back in Europe and I learned interesting facts, regarding some of the differences thanks to my guide, who explained history and traditions of the performances. There was also translating device, thanks to which you know, what is going on on the stage without the need of speaking Japanese yourself. The story was simple, but very nice, showing how person can change for the sake of his or hers loved ones... The experience is more costy, than just a ticket to the show of course, but you will also get to meet and spend time with a real geisha (before the show), that will give you more information about kabuki, than just visiting the place on your own.

      two faces of geisha
Geishas are important part of japanese culture. In this event, you will enter the house, where some of such ladies live their daily life and you will see one of them preparing the make up, while another one will explain more about it. You will have a chance to ask what you were wondering, about their life, training, performance and so on. For those, interested in geishas and/or makeup related topics, it is a good opportunity to talk with them and see not only the white, professional face, but also the woman behind it. After geisha was ready with her makeup (this part took about an hour), we went to nearby bar to enjoy some time together with both geishas (reserve more time if you want to do this as well). We also had the chance to take pictures with them in front of nearby temple, that added to the experience.

The whole thing was so beautiful
We booked this tour as a couple around October, and we don't regret any single dime spent on it. You can choose between watching the entire show or a fraction of it, but the way the performers act is so awesome that you will probably stay for the entire showing. The best part is that everything gets explained in detail so you don't miss what is going on. So in the end we can say we don't regret anything at all and thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for an authentic approach to japanese culture!

      Incredible experience!
The whole dancing and singing was so awesome. We booked two tours around the weekend, one in Tokyo and one here, and the communication with Sayuki to reach the house was on point. Once we arrived we were impressed by the architecture of the house as it really looked like a 100 year old house. The experience with the Geishas was so so beautiful and the best part is that they can explain to you the meaning behind what they do in English, so we learned many many things about this old tradition. Thank you so much for everything! We will surely come back to this experience again!

      Very immersive experience!
We really enjoyed watching the Geishas dance and practicing their pantomime moves. It was a really immersive from beginning to end, and the best part is that throughout the experience they explain to you the meaning behind each movement and expression. I thoroughly recommend this experience to anyone who wants deeply understand why the geishas do what they do! Thank you Sayuki and everyone at the event!!

This experience was really interesting. Knowing what I know about the karyukai, I know that these girls are not real geisha at all, but they performed really well and it was a great time. It was on par with other furisode-san experiences, if not better. I'd recommend this experience to others visiting Taito.
