A Terrible Experience with Bryan Kazungu, Bigzone Safaris - Misrepresentation,Deceptive and Fraudulent
Bryan Kazungu of Big Zone Africa Safaris gave egregious misrepresentation of services, as well fraudulent and deceptive behaviors that caused significant inconvenience and financial harm. I was initially invited to join a sailing trip in East Africa. My long-time friend informed me that her friend, along with her family and a couple, were planning a 3-day safari in Kenya following the sailing trip. I was provided the friend's contact details, and we corresponded via email due to her family commitments. I made an inquiry through TourRadar and received responses from both TourRadar and Big Zone Africa Safaris. The friend forwarded an email about a flight with Kenya Airways and informed me that she sent an email I sent her asking for info. on the Safari to Bryan and he called me. Bryan claimed to represent TourRadar, which I believed given his response to my inquiry through TourRadar When I asked about the group's booking, he confirmed that I would be booking through TourRadar, just like the group. He assured me that booking with him would be the same as booking through TourRadar and pressured me to commit directly with him by continuously following up via WhatsApp. During our conversations, I expressed my intention to obtain travel insurance. Bryan, asserting that he was the managing director of the tour, assured me that insurance was unnecessary as I would receive a full refund if I canceled or was unable to go. The group were friends of his and that I was in safe hands with him. Bryan's engaging demeanor and assurances built a false sense of trust. On March 7, 2024, I booked through TourRadar, but Big Zone Africa Safaris issued the invoice. When I inquired, Bryan misled me by claiming this was standard practice and reassured me that everything was fine. However, On March 19, 2024, I received an email from TourRadar inquiring about if I still had an interest in the trip. I reached out to Bryan, who then admitted that he had not processed my payment through TourRadar but directly through him, contrary to his earlier statements and instructed me not to inform TourRadar. I had not talked to him since March 8th. He attempted to pacify me with additional perks- a hot air balloon ride, touring Nairobi, an art museum and Giraffe center. He requested that I buy him a phone from the US, and he would pay me back, which I found highly unprofessional. Despite my clear indication that I was uncomfortable with this request, Bryan persisted by sending me the phone description. I texted him to say that I did not want to get him a phone and suggested he check with the married friend. I gave a hint that this request is inappropriate and pointed out he was trying to take advantage of me being single. On June 30, 2024, Bryan informed me that my flight had been canceled and rescheduled for July 1st in the evening. After extensive attempts to contact the airlines to find an earlier flight, without success, Bryan asked me if I wanted him to do the refund then. I told him hold off, let me keep trying to no success. We talked and I asked him to proceed with my refund. He promised to process it on July 2nd, 4th, 8th, 12th and continued to promise and delay it. By July 18, 2024, Bryan stated that my refund was ready and would be processed in a couple of days, but by July 22, 2024, I still hadn't received it. On July 25, 2024, After being played so many times about my refund, I confronted Bryan about the missing refund and confirmation and that I will contact TourRadar if I don’t receive either. Bryan then falsely claimed that I had been given a choice to book with him or TourRadar, which is a blatant LIE and an attempt to cover up/fabricate a story to cover up his deceptive practices. Bryan’s response to my complaint incriminates him. I had not mentioned any discrepancies about TourRadar or Bryan cutting Tourradar out of the deal. I only intended to highlight his false assurances about the refund policy to Tourradar. Bryan’s subsequent lies and contradictory statements have only exposed his fraudulent actions further. He highlighted what he did to me and exposed his own guilt. As a consumer, I have the right to reach out to the appropriate party in regard to my purchase. Out of Bryan’s own guilt, he quickly became defensive and threatened to only give me my money back under the following conditions: A) Not to expose Bryan to Tourradar. B) He will only refund me if I do not speak to any other parties. This was an inappropriate abuse of power. He violated my consumer right. Looking back, I understand why he sidestepped my request for travel insurance with the travel company and simply told me I'd be refunded if necessary. Addressing the insurance would have exposed that I was dealing with him directly rather than through TourRadar. By covering up one shady transaction, he’s now involved in another questionable deal by withholding a refund that was part of my tour purchase. It seems he was trying to take advantage of me, even going so far as to ask me to buy a phone for him. Bryan’s actions constitute a clear breach of consumer trust and fraud. His misleading claims, constant delays, and refusal to honor his promises have caused significant inconvenience and financial harm. I have multiple What'sApp messages documenting his assurances and subsequent failures to deliver on them. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and they successfully won my dispute against Bryan. This took Three months of dealing with his fraudulent business practices. Since this ordeal happened, I have found out that Bryan is a working subcontractor. This is definitely not "we are selling the dream," that his website claims for a vacation trip! A Complete Fraudster!

          Don't use this company
We actually did a three day Safari. Before the first day when he switched our flights from direct to layovers in two different airports that were 40 minutes away from each other, we knew something was up but we didn't cancel. They sell you an itinetary and do not abide by it. The whole thing is a bait and switch. The "owner" of this company is named Bryan and he ripped us off by telling us we had to pay an extra $600 cash and that he would pay us back and he didn't pay us back. Do not use this company. He promised us one hotel and at the last minute sent us to one that was not as nice And the jeeps were horrible. This is not a company, it is a guy working subcontracting services day by day! He is very charming until you get there and he rips you off!!! we are not the first ones this is happened to. Book someone else! Anyone else!

Saltlick- Great if you want animals up and in your face.
This one is preferential to the Taita. Both owned by the same people. No swimming pool at this one. The huge benefits are that it has watering holes immediately outside and you have three levels. All accomodation is on top level. Having huge meals 3 times a day as elephants, buffalo, monkeys, antilope , zebra take turns to visit the watering hole. You can get a guide, very cheap as we did, in our own car . No lions but came across giraffes, and a hyena who was intent to take out a zebra. Rooms fantastic. Staff fantastic. All in all a very good experience.

          It was absolutly extraordinary
I expected much from this but even so it exceeded my expectations. If you like animals you'll have time of your life. Also the trip was well organized, it was awesome that hotels was inside of the parks (except of Amboseli that was right next to the park) and the guide/driver knew what he was doing. Totaly recommend.

Go to Kenya but NOT with this company.
I booked the 12 day Kenya safari with comfortable accomodation. I was sent the itinerary and the hotel list in advance. Without any prior communication, two of the hotels were downgraded to significantly worse hotels (not the same quality or price - in fact about $70 each instead of $200). One of the hotels was under a club in Nairobi and I didn't sleep the whole night. I asked for a refund for these two night as I paid for significantly better hotels. Bryan Kazungu from Big Zone admitted they were worse hotels but refused to give me a refund. My guide was also one hour late to pick me up from the airport and he was constantly on the phone and distracted. I recommend that you go to Kenya but book with a better company than this one, so that you really will have the trip of a lifetime.

Amazing Experience for a Once in a Lifetime Experience
Two Bs were responsible for our great experience, Mr. Bryan and Mr. Ben. Mr. Bryan put together our trip. He made sure that every detail was planned and carried out with love a precision. Mr. Ben was our driver and tour guide. We visited three safari parks, Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli. We saw the big 5 and so much more. At each stop our rooms were upgraded and the food and service was amazing. We asked to have plans for us to eat with a Kenyan family, to gain a deeper appreciation for Kenya, and Mr. Bryan selflessly arranged that for us. It's that personal touch that made the difference. These two men should be recognized as ambassadors for Kenya.

Two days Tsavo East and Saltlick
My safari in Tsavo East National Parc and Saltlck was again a great adventure for me. Even if there was high grass because of the rain the time before I saw a lot of animals. I saw for example lions, elephants, giraffs, buffalos, impallas, a lot of different birds. It was amazing. The organisation of my safari and my safariguide was very good. I have nothing to complain.

          Amazing Safari Experience
This was my first safari tour and I couldn't be happier! Bigzone safari made this trip so worth it. Excellent communication, impeccable service, all was smooth. Highly recommend choosing Bigzone. The camp I was accommodated was at Governor's Camp in Masai Mara, excellent choice. Every staff member was hospitable and friendly. I will certainly use them again.

On Safari from the 13. til the 16th of December 2019
The gamedrive startet at Ngutuni Lodge. There I saw two Gepards very near. It was great. The food in the Lodge was nice. My room had a good view to the waterhole. The second day my safariguide me drove to Tsavo East and saw lions, giraffes, elephants...I stayed tue night at Voi Safari Lodge with a wonderful view. The third night I was at Saltlick Lodge. A very nice place to stay. Unfortunately there were almost no animals to see. I had a wonderful safari

We did a three day Safari, saw all the animals we were hoping to see, except the Leopard. Herd of buffalo being chased by lions was the highlight and to our relief seeing that the Lions failed! elephants, Giraffes, Impalas etc etc

          Great Safari! 5 day Safari
Pick up on time for travel to Amboseli National Park. Viewed many of the wildlife traveling through the park. Plenty of time to take pictures!! Also, traveled to Maasai Mara National Park during the 5 day safari. Jamlick was my guide and he was always on time, great driver (especially for the road conditions), and knew how to position the vehicle for a good photo. Lodging and meals were included and could not ask for better accomadations. Even seen a giraffe fight at on of the lodges-one of the best experiences during the trip! I know there are several safaris to choose from-but Bigzone is a great experience and Jamlick has 12 years experience and is very knowledgeable!

          Awesome safari
Great safari! Visited Amboseli and Masai Mara National parks during the five days. My guide Jamlick has been a guide for 12 years, so he was well experienced in the best places to view the wild life. Very good driver for the road conditions! Was not nervous while he was driving. Seen all the animals I wanted to see-elephants, cheetahs, leopards, lions and lots of zebras and giraffes!!

The trip was fantastic! Bryan Kazunga worked with us every step ensuring a safe and memorable experience and it exceeded our expectations. From transportation and accommodations before the safari, transportation to accommodations after the safari, timely access to PCR tests and communication/translation.
The guide/driver during the safari was kind and patient, he knew the parks very well and was incredibly knowledgeable. He was able to get us close encounters with the animals, landscape and culture. Thank you for this amazing trip!

I was fortunate enough to go on vacation and the safari and beach house was all organized with Bryan's help! Truly a top notch experience and he went above and beyond helping us get our PCR tests back on time to reenter the US.
        Thanks so much Bryan!
