We visited the Acetaia as part of the Italian days tour from Bologna and enjoyed our stay at Cavedoni very much. We learned so much about the Aceto production and what to look for when buying your supplies back home. The taste of the products was also amazing, so much so, that when we flew back from the airport without checked lugagge, the inspectors let us pass with 1 liter of the Aceto without confiscating any and with admiring compliments of the quality. Loved it!

My wife and I booked a tour as part of a pre-elopement for my wife's best friend and her fiance.

When we arrived, we were greeted like family. We were welcomed into the home, shown about, and taken on a fascinating tour of this family-owned company. The knowledge and passion was obvious and intense, as well as contagious - we all learned so much. Marcello spoke excellent English and was able to field all of our questions.

Afterwards, we treated to a delicious spread of local delights, which far exceeded any expectations. Everything was wonderful, and my vegetarian wife was treated to a salad in lieu of the meat on offer. Of course all the company made samples were wonderful, but the chocolate cake was also fantastic.

My wife is learning Italian, and Marcello and Paulo were happy to chat with her to help her practice and learn a bit more.

Overall, we felt so welcomed and cared for, and left with a real passion for balsamic vinegar. We will only buy it from here in the future. We cannot recommend this enough.

My husband and I found this beautiful location through this very website but not one positive review could have prepared us for this unbelievably amazing experience!

From the very beginning we were treated not just as customers but as honored guests and, dare I say, as friends. From an incredibly interesting and informative tour around the property (vineyard, Barrels storage room and workshop) to a delicious tasting of all differently aged balsamic vinegars accompanied by local cheeses, meats and home made Lambrusco, this place was the highlight of our trip.

Marcello, our loveliest of tour guides, answered all of our questions about his trade and also showered us with excellent tips about the different sights one should experience in this beautiful region. His wife backed us a surprise chocolate cake we couldn’t stop shuffling in, and overall we felt for one afternoon like we’re the honor guests of this traditional family. I deeply recommend this tour and we will definitely be back in the near future.

Once again, our warmest thanks to this wonderful man and his family who opens their doors to anyone interested in their culture, trade and way of life.

This was a great tour! We learned and saw how traditional balsamic vinegar is made along with other balsamic products - and how to really tell them apart! The tour was led by one family member and we also met his father. This is truly a family business.

I had been on a tour at a different balsamic house, but the explanations given during the tour were much better and clearer. Making this product is a truly unique process.

And then there was the tasting... of course, you are going to taste their products at the end, but I was surprised at the quality and quantity of the other products offered as well - Parmigiana Reggiano, prosciutto, other meats, bread, etc. It was nice to be able to taste the balsamic products with others - just as you normally would.

100% satisfied with this activity and the purchases made!

This tour was extremely special. We learnt so much about the traditional way of producing balsamic vinegar and the customs and heritage that are attached to it. We also learnt a lot about the regulations around the marketing of balsamic vinegar and what you are and aren't allowed to declare on labels when selling the final product. The tour ended with a tasting of all the different aged vinegars, first by themselves and then paired with cheeses and meats from the region, accompanied by lambrusco. I 100% recommend this if you are visiting Modena it was a fantastic experience!

What a special place! This was an intimate tour given by Marcello to only our family. We learned so much on this tour about their small production of balsamic. We felt it was much nicer and personable that our visit to Acetaia Giusti, which we had done previously. There was also an area just outside for the kids to play with a trampoline. This is a nice family-run business. Special place.

I cant recommend this enough. Its exceptional. The knowledge of the grape growing and producing by the family is amazing. This was obtained over multiple generations and continues to this day.
If you're in the area this is a must see. It has everything for all the family. A little tip, go hungry on the tour. The food at the end is plentiful and there's also some wine and a little local tipple. An incredible experience not to be missed.

Marcello was so genuine. He welcomed us and treated us like family right from the start. He has a good sense of humor, was very knowledgeable and explained everything about balsamic. He is also knowledgeable about wine making. It was just our group of 6, including a 5, 13, and 16 year old. There was plenty of food to sample and snack on. Definitely the highlight of our day!

Our host, Marcello, operates this balsamic production along with his father. Marcello was an absolutely wonderful host for my wife and I and gave us a detailed tour of how *actual* balsamic vinegar is produced. We had no prior experience with balsamic other than what we had seen in stores in the US, and Marcello's tour and explanation was a complete eye opener (suffice it to say that what most people are familiar with on grocery shelves is a poor imitation). He was a patient and extremely knowledgeable guide, answering all of our questions - it was so fascinating to me that I couldn't stop asking about details of the production. Furthermore, the education extended beyond balsamic to cheese, wine and traditional Italian food in general. This tour expanded my mind into Italian culture in ways that were so unexpected and wonderful.

After the tour Marcello treated us to Montepulciano wine (also made by his company), aged two and three year old parmesan cheese, and allowed us to sample various vinegars, one of which was over 100 years old!

Absolutely delightful tour, and a highlight for my wife during our trip. I'd recommend this to anyone interested in Italian culture, tradition, and especially food!

We learned so much about how balsamic vinegar is made and about their family history that we will now be spending much more money in the future when we buy balsamic vinegar! So much better than what is in the grocery store. Marcello and the rest of the family are very gracious hosts and he shared with us some of their homemade Hazelnut liqueur that was also delicious. Buonissimo!!!
