He had a large number of disciples of the Order. St. Shenouda was one of St. Thomas’s disciples. Abba Thomas announced Abba Shenouda marks on his departure , and the body of Bishop Thomas is buried in the chamber from the right of the main altar , the monastery and its recognition of the Holy Synod and witness spiritual signs and incense during the Holy Glorification The Monastery of Prince Tadros Al-Mashreqi The monastery is located above the mountain road to the quarries east of the University and away from it 1 km to the south The Monastery built around the 17th century, the archaeological church resembles the monasteries of Akhmim, which were built on the Bakhumi system – the communion system – in the form of the three structures, and the dome with corner corners in front of the main temple. Take a short break for lunch in a local restuarant Then continue your tour and visit The monastery of Anba Bakhoum and his sister Dhalosham The monastery is located in the northeastern part of the village of Sawamah east, about 12 km north of Akhmim. The rest of the monastery is part of the church, whose remains are similar to the monastery of St. Shenouda. There are the remains of the columns of the old church in the western courtyard of the church, which is estimated to be the old part of the century 6/7 AD. Bakhoom and his sister Dhalusham are the nephews of the martyr Anba Bisada, Bishop of Ansay, who received the crown of martyrdom during the reign of Diocletian the tyrant. Our next step will be Saint George Iron Monastery The monastery is located on the eastern road between Akhmim and Nagi Hammadi, about 15 km south of Akhmim . It was formerly called the Monastery of Iron of Saints or Logius and Arsanyos and then named after the famous Roman martyr George. The church is located inside a high wall on a high hill where there is only the archaeological church and buildings for some Coptic families. The church is modeled after the churches of Akhmim from the 16th and 17th centuries. The monastery was called iron in relation to .. When digging the Farouqia canal adjacent to the monastery, the excavators put the iron marks where the excavation is adjacent to the wall of the monastery, resulting in digging the canal and demolishing the fence of the monastery and taking part of the area of the monastery. The signs moved to a place far from the fence and repeated and knew the excavators that moved the marks is St.George to preserve the monastery. Then you will go to visit the Monastery of Saint Anba pesada The monastery is located on the eastern road from Akhmim to Nagi Hammadi and the monastery is 18 km south of Akhmim. The church is the only remaining building of the old monastery and the church that dates back to the age of Akhmim churches. The monastery has some ancient manuscripts and icons that tell of the great glory from which the aroma of grace breathes in the blood of the martyrs. Also The monastery also speaks of the injustice and cruelty that Diocletian the tyrant dealt with the children of Christ. There are floral motifs indicating the beginning of the conversion from paganism to Christianity In the room, the martyr Anba Bessada embodied the inner baptismal chamber , and beside the flesh is the body of the children of his sister Bakhom and Dhalosham Our final step will be The Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Hawawish Located 4 km east of the village of Hawawish, which is 12 km southeast of Akhmim .. The monastery is surrounded by a square wall .The monastery church is the main building of the monastery and dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries . The Holy Synod recognized monasticism in this monastery After its reconstruction, the monastery contained a rare collection of saints’ bodies inside the old church At the end of the trip you will be transferred to your hotel in Sohag

        Don’t go!
My Egyptian friend and I traveled all the way from Safaga to visit the churches and mosques. When we got to the church we were told that only I could get in to the church because my friend is Muslim he was not allowed to enter and I was not allowed to enter the mosque either. I wish the description was more accurate because we wasted our time and money on travel just to be disappointed. I am disgusted that these attitudes still exist in parts of Egypt. The beautiful Coptic Christian church in Qusair allows Muslims to visit and they are very welcoming and friendly. I would not recommend visiting these places of worship in Qena, this attitude is what causes division between religions, in the times we live in we should be embracing other religions not pushing them away.

        Very interesting history
A fascinating tour around the monastery by one of the senior monks who told us the history of the site and the purpose of many of the buildings.

        Nile cruise on NYE
The Nile cruise was a nice experience for us. We had a good contact to Sandra from "Travel to church", who gave us all informations about the tour. The food on M/S Mahrousa was gorgeous. The guide Mohamed in Luxor was great. So many interesting informations about Karnak and Valley of Kings. It was a pleasure to listen to him. The guide Jusuf in Kom Ombo/Aswan/Abu Simbel was also very kind. In Edfu was the guide unfortunately not so good, less interesting informations and just a fast tour through the temple.

To see all main temples in 3 days
It was our dream to travel on Nile and see the main attractions at the same time and it came true. Thanks the team for organizing our trip. Guides and transfers were on time and the manager was always with us through whatsapp. Pros: - Good organization overall - Good guides in Luxor (ours was Gada) and Abu Simbel (from Aswan) - English speaking - Good food and accommodations on the boat - Balloon flight not very expensive - All entry fees for temples were included in our trip - Support in Whatsapp almost 24/7 Cons: - Sales people in bazaars near all tourist attractions. They are noisy and can be aggressive. If you don’t want anything from them, just walk straight through without speaking to them. As in our case my friend was practically robbed of some of her money. I think the agency should have asked their guides to instruct people beforehand. Several times I felt that we were intentionally left near shops. In any other country it would be ok, but not in Egypt. - Tips is another story. Almost every person expects to get some money from you. It’s a part of mentality here, so expect to spend at least $50 plus on tips for the guides, drivers, people on the boat, people at the railway stations. - Drinks on the boat are not included at all. Even simple water. The prices are 2-3 times higher than in shops. So bring your own water or be ready to pay another $40-50 for drinks. (It was around $40 for the both of us, but we were not strong on alcohol.) - We went to Egypt during Ramadan, so every cafe was closed. Buy your food for the trains beforehand if traveling on holy month. -/+ Trains. If you are not ready to spend more than 10 hours on a train, consider making your tour with direct flights from/to Cairo. In our case we wanted to have that experience and were ready for that. Sleepy trains are much more comfortable, but you won’t be in time for balloon ride (If you choose it on the way to Luxor). Moreover, egyptian trains tend to be late for several hours. We reached Luxor in 10 hours instead of 8, and Cairo in 15 instead of 12. It’s about 2-4 hours late. To the team: I recommend that you make a schedule with time for that trip. Start to Abu Simbel was at 04:30 A.M. It was a little unexpected.
