- 611wyattb0 contributionsTHE BEST TOUR EVER🗿🥰🤗Amazing!!! We were hesitant with the up front cost, but having a PRIVATE local guide just for us felt like the correct way to visit Easter island. You are going all the way to one of the most iconic islands in the world. Don’t cheap out on a group tour. Hugo answered all our questionsabout the present and past of Rapa Nui, took care of a lot of the ticketing details, and went above and beyond to provide us with an fantastic experience. Can’t wait to come back. Cheers, Wyatt, Reyka, and KathyWritten April 30, 2024

She helped us obtain the best photo angles and lighting. We enjoyed lunch at a cafe with a view of the quarry. This was the best historical tour I’ve ever experienced. 5 stars!Written March 11, 2024

- Wanderoversea0 contributionsIn deep tour of Easter island with enormous knowledge from a Rapa Nui, a descendent of key historical figureOur tour guide Sebastian Paoa has enormous knowledge about this island, probably from his own heritage and also he was in charge of tourist business of Easter island before. He gave me many updated information of the history, the findings and current theory of moais on Easter island. He went above and beyond to show us the whole picture of East Island. In addition, I enjoy the intellectual conversation with him. I highly recommend him as a private tour guide to learn the history of Easter island.Written February 8, 2024
- F6588OCagnieszkac0 contributionsMagic moments in magic Rapa NuiOur experience with Kava Kava Tours was great, its a trustworthy company, that will make you feel welcomed from the moment you land on the island. Hugo Ito, our guide was amazing, knowledgeable, fun, we felt like with a good friend. We did 2 full day tours and sunrise and all went beyond expectations.Written January 9, 2024
- 690robertw0 contributionsVery good experience in a day tourA remarkable experience in Rapa Nui (Easter Island) with Benjamin. Lots of beautiful places with Moai and heaps of explanations. - kcQ9748UW0 contributionsInformative, well-paced island tour!Had a great and informative island tour with expert guide Cristina, whose personal ties to the island's history made the experience even more remarkable. She was able to answer all my questions, and paced the day's activities in a thoughtful manner. The entire day was well-organized, communication was clear from booking through trip completion, and the ride around the island was comfortable as well.Written December 26, 2023
- JJ2_Travels0 contributionsTouring Rapa Nui historical sitesWow! What a fantastic time we had touring around Rapa Nui with our knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and talented tour guide, Sebastian. We loved every minute learning about the history of Rapa Nui and visiting the historical sites. As well, Sebastian is compassionate. Once Sebastian learned I have reduced mobility (arthritic knees) he lugged a camping chair around so that I could rest when needed, and he offered me his arm when I needed help safely navigating over rough terrain. We highly recommend Kava Kava Tours for its professionalism, knowledge and excellent client service.Written December 23, 2023
- Krysthle P0 contributionsBest in town 11/10 starsSebastian was so knowledgeable and the best tour guide we have ever had (and we have travelled a lot). He is fluent in English and very professional. He took care of us like friends, and made sure we were always comfortable. He catered to our interests and adapted the tour as such. He also answered tons of questions. You can tell he is very passionate about the island history. He went above and beyond our expectations. We definitely recommend to book with Kava Kava tours. They are the best. In speaking with other tourists from our hotel who did not book with Kava Kava, they were disappointed with the tours as the guides were not as professional, patient and knowledgeable. You cannot go wrong with Kava Kava, great experience. Book with them. Thanks Seb!Written December 20, 2023
- C2475VFtonis0 contributionsFun and EducationalEducational and fulfilled all our expectations. Tour guide took many photos for us of us and answered all our questions about this mystical island.Written December 19, 2023

If I ever return to Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Kava Kava Tours will be my first contact.
We came to the Island with very little notice during high season. Alejandra was so helpful in assisting my planning our visit, it would have been far more difficult without her expert advice.
We did the amazing tours with Sebastian Paoa as our guide and cultural expert.
We went to Isla de Pascua thinking of it as a land of mysterious statues but it is so much more. Easter Island is first of all a land of a unique people group (Rapa Nui) with a very unique culture and history. They are a very friendly and welcoming people with great pride in their heritage.
The Island itself is strikingly beautiful, unlike anyplace I have traveled.
Sebastian made the entire Island come alive with his knowledge of the people and their culture.
Yes the Moai are amazing and mysterious but Rapa Nui is so much more.
Plan on at least three days for a once in a lifetime experience. I hope to return.
Thank you Kava Kava, Alejandra, and Sebastion.

We booked a hotel and private tour package. Everything was excellent. Sebastian was a wonderful guide. In addition to his encyclopedic knowledge of the history and archeology, he brings a real passion to sharing his homeland with his visitors. Our plans changed unexpectedly mid tour and he accommodated the truncation of our tour so that we felt that we had not missed any of the major sites. Alejandra in the office was also helpful. I highly recommend their services.

My husband and I found Kava Kava tours via TripAdvisor with their excellent reviews and completely agree with all that we have read.
Booking:
Booking was very easy online with quick responses to questions and easy payment via PayPal (we opted to pay in full up front). A few days before our scheduled tours, Alejandra emailed us notifying of a cruise ship coming to the island that may impact our experience with the tours and seeing if we wanted to rearrange our tours so it won’t be as hectic/busy with the increased tourists. We are so impressed with how Alejandra wanted us to have an amazing experience and planned/communicated in advance for this. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed to the island that could have affected our tour for the day and Alejandra was very quick to respond and reschedule our tours as originally planned. We are impressed with her quick responses and gave us a peace of mind during our travels.
Tours and guide:
We took 3 days of tours (each 6-7hr tours) with Nikolas: 1) Te Moai (sunrise tour) with bbq lunch 2) Tangata Manu, 3) Poike circuit. The cost of the tours does NOT include the national park passes as the pass helps with the maintenance/restoration of the parks. Nikolas is an excellent guide, who grew up in Rapa Nui and shared a lot of history, culture of his people, and the island. We have had many tour guides from several countries and have to say Nikolas is top notch when it comes to knowledge, professionalism, and friendliness. The #1 and #2 tours above, give a comprehensive overview of the island, which is highly recommended. Also, the Poike hike was very beautiful and not as strenuous as advertised - more moderate and we are not hardcore hikers. The bbq lunch was delicious and a perfect location after seeing the Rano Raraku quarry. Overall, great experience with Kava Kava tours and would highly recommend!

We spent two wonderful days with Nicolas on the Te Moai and Tangata Manu private tours. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and gave us insight into Rapa Nui oral history and traditions. Over the two days, we visited virtually all of the amazing archaeological sites and the tranquil lakes on the top of two of the volcanoes. It was a perfect introduction to the island and its people and culture.

Please see my review under the Tangeriki Sunrise Experience. We actually did 2 half day tours of the sites and a trek through Poole Peninsula and a half day horseback ride to the top of Maunga Terevaka. Both our guides were knowledgeable and fun. Both were eager to share their culture and history with us. Sebastian and “Wind” were our guides. Wind has a Rapa Nui name that we couldn’t remember. So he told us to call him “Wind.” Apparently his family name means “thief of leaves” which is a reference to the wind which blows the leaves off the trees. We thoroughly enjoyed all of our adventures with those two.

We had an amazing two days with Sol exploring the island. She was very knowledgeable and took great pride in sharing her heritage. The tour was just at the right pace. We liked the fact she drove us through the non touristy parts of the island so we could get a feel for it.
Communication was good during booking especially when there was a problem with the website. Highly recommended.

We were there in March 2019
Sol picked us up at our hotel and took us on a fabulous tour.
She is a very knowledgeable young lady with a very nice warm manner, she was very accommodating and went at just the right pace she even allowed us to extend our tour to an extra stop as we only on the island for a short time.
Thank you Sol for sharing your beautiful island with us we thoroughly enjoyed it.

How many days are recommended to see the main parts and history of Easter Island? Is this trip the one Nickolas guides? What hotel would be recommended for at least two nights?
