Fabullus cooking experience with a local resident
The hostess was fabulous full of practical cooking tips and patient instructions on how to cook our meal of clams, fish in curry sauce, salad and patel de nata - all delicious for a nice noon meal. The bonus was to meet a very nice hostess to learn about her life and living in Portugal.

      Cristina welcomes us like friends
Cristina was amazing! When we arrived she gave us a private tour of her neighborhood and gave us insight into daily life in Lisbon. We talked for so long by the time we left it was 2 hrs past the scheduled finish time haha. She instantly welcomed us like friends and that is definitely how we left. Highly recommend!

Awesome class with great 1:1 experience!
Paula's class was great! I learned a lot about the history of Goan food and after having made the pastel de nata from scratch, I don't think I'll be going back to the store for them! 10/10 would recommend!

      Excellent Experience!
Across the river from the bustling city of Lisbon is the charming town of Cacilhas. Exiting the ferry and walking along the river, you'll get an expansive view of the the bridge, river and city of Lisbon. Paula is a long time resident of Cacilhas and shares her knowledge of not only the area but the history of Goans in Portugal. Her home is warm and cozy and offers a glimpse of daily life in the local market and shops. As soon as you enter her home, you feel as though you have come to have lunch with family. Conversation over delicious home cooking evolves into shared stories of past travels, food experiences and family. I learned so many useful tips regarding cooking techniques, where to purchase quality ingredients as well as the history of Goan food. As a solo traveler, I felt very safe and enjoyed not only cooking alongside Paula but breaking away from the busy city. A wonderful and delicious way to spend the afternoon! Thank you Paula for opening your home and kitchen to me!

      Lovely private experience
Paula provided excellent communication before during and after our dinner experience so the menu was customized just for us! She greeted us promptly at 5PM at the agreed location, with great enthusiasm even though she had just completed a lunch class …escorting them back to the ferry as she had done with us. Paula provided a casual easy going experience, slowly and carefully demonstrating some fun and interesting techniques throughout the evening …correcting us if we went astray. By 9:30 our meal was complete…so worth the wait as it was delicious, paired with a chilled Alentejo white…and Ginja with our dessert. This was made even more delightful by our conversation with Paula who was quite charming and shared interesting stories and experiences. It felt like you were at a friend’s home throughout. 😄

      Fun, friendly, memorable
Excellent communication from the start. Paula was welcoming and personal in her approach, suggesting options to suit our tastes. We learned a lot as amateur cooks from our guided, hands on experience and very much appreciated her useful tips. Paula provided a relaxed, ‘at home’ atmosphere, making for easy conversation. Thanks, Paula, for a memorable holiday experience.

The best cooking class in Lisbon!
Looking for an authentic experience while visiting Lisbon? Then this cooking class is a must-do! We had an amazing time learning from Paula. Paula was extremely welcoming, kind, and attentive. She shared interesting stories and was knowledgeable on the history of the dishes. Her food was delicious, her Pastel de Natas were the absolute best, and her personality was the icing on the cake. This was an unforgettable experience during my trip. I highly recommend taking this cooking class with Paula!

      A great experience!
A truly wonderful experience! Paula gave us a great cultural/historical tour before we went to the market to select fish and various spices/herbs for our lunch of Goan clams, salmon curry with basmati rice and pastel de nata. Paula’s hand on instructions and knowledgeable tips ensured the meals was fun to prepare and delicious. The short ferry from Cais do Sodre to Almada was easy and it was great to experience a very different atmosphere - we will absolutely go back! Many thanks Paula for welcoming us to your home and for sharing your love of cooking!

This class is a MUST do in Lisbon!
Our class with Paulinha was absolutely marvelous. If you do nothing else when you’re in Lisbon, do this. The food was excellent, and Paulinha is the most beautiful soul. Cannot wait to come back and cook with her more

      Felt at home
It was absolutely amazing. The food was great of course but the best part is that the host, Paulinha, made us feel at home. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who may be interested.

      What a perfect evening!
What a perfect evening. We took the short ferry ride from Cais do Sodre in Lisbon across the Tagus River to Cacihas. We arrived a bit early and took advantage of seeing the Man of War and submarine on display nearby plus a brief walk through the town. Paula met us at the fountain about 50 m from the ferry terminal at the agreed time. She asked about what types of food we liked to eat and if there were any food allergies (dairy in our case). Our menu consisted of traditional Portuguese and Goan cooking. Paula picked up a few ingredients at her local market and off we went to her place. We worked under Paula’s guidance in her apartment-sized and very well equipped kitchen to prepare octopus salad (Portuguese), onion bhajis Goan style, Portuguese pork with potatoes and clams. The wine was plentiful and dessert consisted of a delicious custard made of sugar syrup and egg yolks. Paula was the perfect guide, teacher, and host. In additional to learning some new cooking techniques and recipes, we learned about the culture in Cacihas. We would highly recommend Paula for groups of 2-6 who are seeking an authentic cooking experience.

Paulo and Susannah (and their lovely son) welcomed us into their home and made a memorable evening for us. They are wonderful hosts, chefs, teachers, and now friends. We enjoyed every second and felt at home, abroad. Highly recommend this service and these folks. Don’t forget to ask for rice pudding.

My wife and I arrived at Cristina's apartment and from the very first moment, we felt like we were good friends. Cristina immediately made us feel welcome, shared stories about her family and was interested in hearing about ours. She has a very genuine quality and a passion for people, it showed. Cristina had planned out an awesome menu of chestnuts, kale soup, baked bacalao, and a baked ricotta dessert, along with wine and cordials. Her instructions were easy to follow and the meal was excellent. As we ate and talked, time flew by so quickly that we never realized we were there for four hours. We are now friends on Facebook and intend to stay in touch. It is remarkable how such a short amount of time can have a long lasting positive impact. I highly recommend it.
