      Very recommended!
Dear okeikoJapan Miyajima, thank you very much for the great cultural experience we had at your lovely zen temple. It was great learning about the tea ceremony as well as customising our own lucky scoops using Japanese calligraphy. The treat was exceptional and we loved the pictures you took and shared with us after. Very recommended!

An Excellent Introduction to Japnese Culture
This was an amazing experience and a brilliant introduction to Japan. The friendly and polite staff help you dress into a Kimono of your choice and and take as many photos of you in their gorgeous garden as you please. You get to participate in a tea ceremony first hand and then enjoy a guided lesson on how to brew some yourself. The session ends with an introduction to Japanese calligraphy and you get to keep what you make as a souvenir. We would recommend this to adults who are looking for an authentic Japanese cultural experience in a quiet corner of Miyajima Island. The staff speak fluent English.

      Wonderful experience in Okeiko Japan
We took the tour in the second day or our stay in Japan, when visiting the Miyajima Island. Once we arrived to the Ferry Station, it was easy to find the place, using Google Maps in our phones. Walking through the narrow streets of Miyajima, allowed us to get an extra taste of the local environment.. we were even able to see some wild deers!. When we arrived to Okeiko Japan for the Tea Ceremony, Kimono and Calligraphy experience, we were received by Keiko San and Yuka San, who were fantastic hosts. They were very kind to recommend very beautiful typical Kimonos and to help us to dress up. The Tea Ceremony was solemn and very well explained by the Tea Master, who also taught us step by step to prepare some matcha tea, both in English and Japanese. After we finished the Tea Ceremony, we were invited to visit the gardens of the Shrine at their facilities, were you can take fantastic photos!. Yuka San and Keiko San, were very patient during the Calligraphy class, showing us the techniques, adequate posture and the use of the band to protect the Kimono's sleeves. We learnt how to draw our favorite Kanji and also to write our name in Katakana on a beautiful souvenir. They were so kind also to allow us to practice our Japanese (which is very basic, by the way), making us to feel more confident for the rest of our trip. Don't miss the opportunity to buy some of the souvenir available at the store, which are unique! (specially the beautiful deers in Kimono), so you can bring home a nice memory of the experience. We definitely would love to take the experience again!. Big thanks to Okeiko staff for a fantastic experience in Miyajima. Best regards Mónica and Juan

      Simply wonderful
If we could give a thousand stars, we would :) We had soooo much fun. The ladies who guided us were super friendly, both in Jpanese and English. They are professional and kind. The activities we booked (Kimono, amulet, tea ceremony, and calligraphy) were really fun. If you want a taste of Japan in a short time and a beautiful setting, this is something for you!

One of the best experiences we had on our trip to Japan
We had an amazing time here with kimono tryon, tea cermony and calligraphy! The staff were very friendly, patient and helpful. They also took many beautiful pictures and videos of us, and encouraged us to do the same. This was one of the best experiences we had on our trip to Japan.

Serene location, wonderful introduction to key Japanese customs. Beautiful experience. Highly recommend.
What a beautiful experience. We absolutely loved it. A short walk up a quiet street and then you arrive at the serene location. Beautiful traditional garden and building with wild deer wandering past. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 teens and really enjoyed choosing and dressing in kimono (very special for the men and women). We then had a very tranquil and informative tea ceremony including trying ourselves followed by a calligraphy lesson. The hosts were very kind, patient and informative. The whole experience was just beautiful and we all left relaxed, happy and touched by the warmth of Japanese people and culture. I would definitely recommend. Such a contrast to the busy area and atmosphere near the ferry terminal.

      An afternoon of culture
A little tricky to find, but well worth the effort. My son and I had a wonderful time dressing in kimonos and practicing calligraphy. The ladies there were so warm and welcoming.

Highlight of our trip to Miyajima
Most memorable experience for my niece and me. Noriko-San shared our excitement as they helped us choose our kimonos and dressed us. They also patiently took lots of photos for us and let us take our time in the garden so we could take hundreds more! Highly recommended for girls of all ages!

Very sweet staff and a memorable experience
Everything about this activity was absolutely perfect. We had an amazing time learning how to write kanji and making our lucky charms. The tea ceremony was also very interesting to watch, such attention to detail in every step. Being able to dress up in kimonos made this whole experience extra special and the photos and videos taken will be forever cherished, what a fantastic time!

      Great fun!
We had so much fun wearing beautiful kimonos and doing calligraphy. We got to pick the fabrics for our kimonos ourself. Our teacher was a funny, sweet lady and she was very helpful. It was a super fun experience, and I recommend everyone who visit Japan to do this at least once!

This experience is one of our highlight on our holiday. We had a group of 6 including 2 teenage boys and had an absolute delight in feeling so special dressing in our kimonos and then learning all about the tea ceremonies. Thank you for the wonderful way you shared your culture and insights with us.

We went here as a family with our two teenagers in Sept.2023. The tour starts off with changing into the kimonos, you can select the color of the kimono and belt which is nice. Then we took many pictures outside in the beautiful gardens in various poses. Next is the tea ceremony where we get a nice chocolate and some sweets. We also got to make our own tea, where you learn about the traditions and how to hold the tea cup, the utensils used etc.. The guides were all fabulous and very friendly. They also gave out a nice origami souvenier at the end. I would highly recommend this cultural experience if you are ever in Miyajima!

Nice experience of wearing a traditional kimono (colour of our own choice) and seeing and practicing a tea ceremony ourselves. Includes enough opportunity to have our own photoshoot.
