Sake Town Tour in Saijo Hiroshima

By Arigato Japan Food Tours
About
The town has eight breweries, seven of which are situated along Sakagura-Dori (Sake Brewery Street). On our tour, we will take a stroll through the historic streets going from brewery to brewery to enjoy samples of local sake. Saijo breweries are concentrated in such a tight area because of the “shikomi mizu,” the water that is essential for producing sake. Hailed as a “miracle water” with a medium hardness suited to sake brewing, it bubbles under the ground of this area in the Saijo district. What’s more, is that apparently there are subtle differences in the water’s components according to a brewery’s location. Shikomi Mizu is an absolute must for sake. If you want to discover the true taste of sake you must visit Saijo (Hiroshima Prefecture)

    Best food tour!
This was the best food tour we went on while in the city! Kay was our guide and was excellent! She taught us so much about Japan and how to eat like a true local. Everything we tried was incredible and we left so full and happy! I would highly recommend for anyone visiting Tokyo!

    Our food tour
We really enjoyed the food tour with Michie. We gained an insight into Japanese culture and ate food that most tourists don't get to see. It was very varied and we really enjoyed it. It is more than worth the price and is made all the more enjoyable by Michie's friendly company. We can recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something really special on their trip to Tokyo.

Matcha Tour was INCREDIBLE! Matcha, Temples, Shrines, Lunch and more!
I did the: MATCHA KYOTO GREEN TEA TOUR – DAYTIME tour. I loved this tour. Sanae was a fantastic guide. She was so knowledgeable and kind, and also proud of Uji and Japan, which really enhanced the tour. She put together a beautiful day filled with lots of history, stories, and laughs! The matcha was incredible. It was unlike anything I've ever had in the States, and after seeing the process of making it, I have a much deeper appreciation. Also - the lunch we had by the river was an unexpected highlight! 10/10 would do again. Thank you Sanae!

    10/10 Would Recommend!
I cannot say enough good things about Arigato Japan Food Tours. I liked them so much, I did four separate tours during my 2 week Japan adventure. Each guide was affable and knowledgeable and truly seemed to love what they were doing. The groups were small enough to ask all the questions, but big enough to enjoy the company. I 100% recommend these food tours and look forward to trying more on a future trip to Japan.

    Excellent
Honeymoon made even better thanks to fantastic tour by Alex. Visited locations we wouldn’t have known to see, and tried restaurants we wouldn’t have tried! All the food was delicious, we were very full by the end. Alex was a brilliant tour guide, lots of great knowledge about Japanese culture and the area, without it feeling like a school trip. We were lucky to have an intimate 4-person tour so plenty of opportunities to ask questions and chat.

    Tokyo highlight!
How lucky were we to explore the Shinjuku Omiode Yokocho (Memory Lane), Kabikicho (Red light district) and an Izakaya at the Golden Gai, on one of the most beautiful nights in Tokyo (it was snowing like crazy!). Our local guide (Ray) was outstanding, teaching us the tips and tricks for eating out in Japan. On the menu first was Tempura (delicious), followed by a mixed sushi experience (fresh) and then finally Tonkotsu ramen (mouth watering) at a cozy local restaurant . We were also treated to a couple extra sights on the tour including the Pachinko building, Godzilla and the 3D Cat of Shinjuku. Undoubtably a night we will never forget!

    Brilliant guide, amazing food!
Our tour guide Akiko was lovely and very knowledgeable. She showed us several interesting sights and great eateries, ordered us some brilliant food including some local specialities we were unaware of. She gave us some great tips and recommendations for the rest of our stay. Now we know why people in Osaka walk on the right. We parted ways fulfilled in more ways than one. Thank you Akiko!

    Kyoto Whiskey and Sake tasting
The whiskey and sake tasting tour led by Thomas was incredible! Thomas was a very knowledgable host and was a great guide who explained everything given to us from proper etiquette, to history in great detail. The places he took us to for the whiskey and sake tasting and also the restaurant for dinner were absolutely incredible in terms of quality of food and atmosphere. Some of which were some of the best foods and drinks I’ve had so far! Absolutely must try and would gladly book again!

A great food tour plus more!
We had a great tour with Miki (Miyuki). She gave us an insider's view of the Osaka market and worked hard to find just the places to stop to suit our taste. As a native (with excellent english) , she we very knowledgeable of the history and culture and gave us insights we didn't get from any of the other guides we used on our trip. I highly recommend the tour and even more highly recommend our guide!

    Wonderful Food Tour around Shibuya
Our food tour with Saika was a 10 out of 10! She took us on a wonderful tour of some of Shibuya's tastiest restaurants and we were able to sample lots of unique Japanese cuisine. Our favorites were the tuna sushi and miso ramen.

A great visit to many food shops to try out Japanese Cuisine.
Sae was very informative and we tasted many different Japanese foods. She took us to a spice shop and we also brought a perfect Japanese knife! The restaurant we went to was typical cuisine and we enjoyed the meal.

    Fun, educational, and delicious!
We had an incredible time with Josh exploring the outer market at Tsukiji. He took us and our kids ages 9,11,13 on a fun fact filled and delicious exploration of Japanese food, history, and culture. He tailored the experience to our time in Japan, what we had already seen and what we had yet to experience. His knowledge and his relationships with local vendors made the experience extra special. Would absolutely go on another excursion with Arigato again!
