One of six major airports serving the London metropolitan area, London Gatwick Airport (LGW) is the second-busiest airport in the United Kingdom, with more than 38.1 million traveler flights in 2014. Located about 30 miles south of London, the airport serves as a hub for British Airways. Other major carriers at LGW include Aer Lingus, EasyJet, Emirates, Monarch Airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways and Turkish Airlines. Passengers can fly non-stop between LGW and destinations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and North America. Gatwick has two runways and two terminals.
