First time traveling on JAL. They were exceptional, great layout of the A350-1000, largest 4k screen I have seen in any business class....to top it off, curated business class menu by top chefs and amazing hospitality. Definitely not my last time flying JAL!

Tokyo - Sapporo
Domestic
We have visited Japan three times; our favorite trip was to Hokkaido. The major city Sapporo is a large energetic capital; we visited everything from restaurants to Sapporo's opera house. The island's culture is memorable. The National Park and Museum was wonderful. We had marvelous passenger treatment on Japan Airlines. We were served with Ramen noodles, followed up with a half-bottle of French champagne. Taking Japan Airlines was a rewarding selection for our family.

I first time travelled with this airline and the experience was 10/10. Halal food, courteous staff, best service. Making the long tiresome flights amazing and beautiful. Meal and snack times are amazing plus ample legspace and comfortable seats behind business class.

We were so excited about our trip to Japan that we decided to splurge and fly JAL instead of the cheaper options. I ended up paying $2k for a round trip flight, more than I’ve paid for any other international flight. I was told the experience was great and it was worth the price, but that was not the case. The person I’m flying with has status on Alaska Air and was able to choose seats. When I booked the flight, I wasn’t given the option to choose seats. Fast forward to trying to check-in and I STILL didn’t have a seat assigned — for an international flight that I spent $2k on! The person working at the counter was able to help me pick a non-middle seat but the experience was still stressful. Also, trying to find your reservation on their app is a nightmare. On my return flight I was never able to access it. I am a vegetarian option and picked this as a special meal option. The meals they served leaned vegan. I basically got mushrooms and rice on my way there (x2 meals), and some vegetarian stew and rice (x2 meals) on the way home, which I didn’t even finish. The person I was flying with got margherita pizza for his 2nd meal and ice cream on the way there — which are both vegetarian and much better options than what I was served. I love airplane food and it’s usually my favorite part of the flight. All the meals and snacks I had on JAL were disappointing. I tried to sleep on the way home since it was essentially an overnight flight but kept getting woken up by the flight attendants. This was also odd to me. Lastly, the plane felt old and nothing special. I was hoping to be wowed here as well as I have been with other airlines. I will never be flying JAL again and would never recommend it. What a bummer.

Tokyo - New Delhi

Security / Immigration : There wasn't any separate queue for First / Business Class passengers at Haneda then , which led to a long waiting time. I believe this has changed in recent months. Lounge : Instead of JAL's own lounge , we went to the Cathay Pacific lounge one floor above. Very plush , excellent views of the tarmac and much better F&B options Boarding : Zone-wise boarding was implemented religiously. Expect slight delays in boarding time at Haneda though. Seating / Layout : Same reverse herringbone seats that were there on our other flights ( 1-2-1 ). Comfortable ? Yes. But might be a bit tight for some. Also , the headrest tends to oscillate with turbulence , while in lie-flat position. Service : Kudos to the 2 senior cabin crew members handling Business Class , who were exceptional at their job. Thoroughly impressed. Food & Beverage : The best out of the 4 flights we took. The Japanese fare was top-notch. Arrival : Dedicated First / Business Immigration counter at DEL. Luggage came on a priority basis as well.
