As founder of the Catskill Mountainkeeper I am dedicated to protecting the 6 counties of the Catskills and encouraging tourism to the region. The Catskills are often considered the first American Wilderness and are home to 35 peaks over 3500 feet, Kaaterskill Falls, great skiing including Hunter, Windham and Belleayre at the best Trout fishing in the world including the rivers where American flyfishing was created- the Beaverkill and Neversink. The Catskills are also home to the original site of the Woodstock Festival in Bethel New York and the town of Woodstock 35 miles away. The Catskills are home to the reservoirs that provide New York City with 95% of its drinking water and farms that provide locally grown organic fruits and vegetables to New York City's green markets.
