My husband and I went to New York for four days and booked this hotel through British Airways.
Although we arrived late the reception staff were very helpful and had everything ready to minimise any delay in getting our room. The room itself was very comfy and had a television, mini-bar and well equipped bathroom. The sheets and towels were changed daily and the hotel supplied shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and there was a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. There was also a heater in the room that we could control ourselves so it was always warm.
On our first day we asked the reception staff about trips etc and they could not have been more helpful and provided maps of New York. We booked our hop-on-hop-off bus tickets at the hotel and they even arranged the helicopter trip for us. The night before we left they booked the airport transfer for us – again, they could not have been helpful, giving advice about the time to travel etc.
Breakfast is another good advantage of going to Hotel Metro. They provide complimentary Continental breakfast which is cereals, fresh fruit, toast, bagels, muffins, Danish pastries. We found there was always plenty of space to sit and the food was replenished constantly. Tea and coffee was available free of charge 24 hours a day.
If you want to see a show on Broadway I would recommend that you go to the TKTS kiosks in Times Square as you can get them at a discounted rate provided you go to see the show on that day. We managed to get very good seats to see White Christmas and got 50% off.
We did not eat at the hotel but used O'Reilly's just a few minutes away and the prices there were reasonable and the food really good.
The hotel also provided free 30 minutes use of the computers and printer in the business centre which was great for booking in on-line our flight back to the UK.

Hotel Metro was very accomodating, the hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room we stayed in was so beautiful it felt like a home away from home! Hotel Metro is so close to many areas in New York City so it was easy to get from place to place also with the help from the friendly staff providing maps and information. Hotel Metro was the only hotel on our trip that served a breakfast which was lovely and had a large selection of breakfast foods to choose from. « less

This was my fiance and I's first trip to NYC. I found hotel metro on trip advisor. This is a GREAT hotel! The location is PERFECT for touring the city. The hotel resides between 5th and 6th avenue...a short walk to all the great stores on 5th ave. Macy's is one block away. the Empire State building is one block away. Times Square is a short walk 5-10 minutes. We took the subway down to lower Manhattan and it was only like 20 minutes. Great restaurants - we would recommend O'Rielly's just down the street. The Metro Grill was "OK" - not bad but we preferred some of the other restaurants. the WIFI was great as well. Always had access and it was NEVER slow! WILL definitely be staying here again! The hotel staff was GREAT and set us up with a ride back to the airport! VERY friendly!! and the breakfast was very good! Lots of choices!!! I spent hours searching on trip advisor before making my decision and it was a GREAT decision!!! « less

This is a good value hotel in a great location. Macy's is two hundred yards away, Times Square 15 minute walk, Fifth avenue at the end of the street, beer garden overlooks Empire State Building ,Rockerfella and Central Park twenty minutes walk. They serve a really good buffet breakfast of fruit, yoghurts, muffins, bagels, cheese, cold meat and coffee. Coffee and tea also served all day in the lounge. The roof bar is a great way to unwind at the end of the day. Recommend Paddy Rileys bar to get away from the tourist biz, Ellen's Stardust Diner on Broadway where you are entertained as you eat and Bryant Park for some peace and quiet. Liberty Island is great but the security to get up the statue makes it not worth while. Enjoy the boat trip, look around, take pictures and then leave. « less
