This hotel has a great location. The building is older and it shows. The noise from the pipes was disruptive and we could hear the people next to us very clearly. It was very clean but the bed was VERY uncomfortable. We ordered a pizza from around the corner and stayed in one night... which was nice. The hotel is safe and the staff was okay... it took us about an hour to check in. The price is average for NYC hotels.
Would I stay here again? Yes... but it wouldn't be my first choice. « less

You can't beat the location, you are within walking distance of all major attractions, and since this was our first time to NY we wanted to be close to everything, and if we weren't there are plenty of subway and Metro stations around. There are plenty of places to eat at around the hotel, and there is a restaurant on site, but we didn't try it. The room was nice, we paid extra for an upgraded room and had a king size bed and plenty of room for all of our luggage. Bathroom was decent with granite counter tops and even a bathtub. We would have loved this hotel if it weren't for a couple of problems.....We didn't notice it the first night but for the rest of the time we were there (a whole week) we were either woken up by the VERY loud pipes when the heat kicked on (which is what I was told by the front desk) it sounded as if someone was in our room banging on the pipes with a metal pipe. Which made it very difficult to get a full night sleep, even with ear plugs in. Once the pipes quited down then we were woken up by the housekeeping staff yelling at each other from one end of the hall to the other. How do I know it was housekeeping and not another guest, well.....I managed to catch a whole conversation that she was having with "Margarita" about running out of sheets and pillowcases for the rest of the rooms she had to do, and it continued EVERY morning, even after I complained. The "please do not disturb" sign didn't really do much. In addition, one morning I had the pleasure of a lukewarm shower, which was really fun with 30 degree weather outside. I was told they were having problems with the boiler....... Would I stay here again, no and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless you don't really mind getting a full nights sleep, then this place is great. « less

We have stayed here three times before, and the Executive room was excellent once we finally got in. But, our stay this year was marred by excuses on why they could not check us in on time. We arrived early afternoon and were informed that they could check us in until after 3:00. When I informed here that it was already 3:05, she indicated that we would have to wait a bit longer...the last thing we want to hear after a long trip. We milled around town a while (although we were tired) and they STILL did not have a room at 4:15. We finally got in the room at 4:30 PM.
There are a lot of good hotels near Times Square and I will now be open to trying other possibilities. I will not look at this one as a "first choice" again, although I would give the hotel another chance if the price was right after I did comparisons on Tripadvisor. Yes, as another reviewer has said, there is "good and bad' to prepare yourself for at this one. « less

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. It was so convenient to Time Square, Rockefeller Center, and Restaurant Row and Hell's Kitchen. The staff was friendly and seemed so interested in our stay. The concierge attendant helped us with the subway to downtown. We were on the 17th floor, it was quiet, and had a pretty view. « less
