We stayed for five nights at this hotel just before the holidays. We found a great deal on the Doubletree site for $127.20 per night. Yes, the rooms need a makeover. But it really is just superficial. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were clean AND spacious (for NY), and the location cannot be beat! Free wireless in the lobby. Cafe Metro has great coffees, Ess a Bagel is just around the corner, Eggs Travaganza (breakfast cart) is at 52nd/Park for a good/cheap breakfast. CVS and Duane Reade for supplies like water, snacks, etc. are also close by. The subway is just outside. Price and location really can't be beat. We'd definitely return! « less

I paid $119 a night during the Holidays for a Queen Bedroom. Great room, with everything I need - comfortable bed, huge plasma TV, great shower. Busy lobby (but I'm not sleeping there, right?), great gym (not an exercise room, they have a very nice gym on the second floor!). Subway in front of the hotel, Cafe Metro next door with everything you would like to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner at very reasonable price (lunch for 3 - salads and subs + drinks - $30). So I wonder why people complain so much about this hotel? If you want luxury in New York you have to pay for it, otherwise enjoy a decent Doubletree hotel in the heart of Manhattan. « less

Where do I start! We had two queen rooms during December 09 and were extremely dissapointed by the hotel, the rooms and the staff. The only pleasant staff were the maids in the morning who always said good morning. The reception staff, the doormen and in particular the conscieges couldn't have been more rude! Not once were we addressed straight away, but left to wait unti it was convenient for them to speak. Unfortunately it wasn't just the odd member of staff we came accross. The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, couldn't have a bath - hated standing in the shower then having to use old towels - the only saviing grace are the decent toiletries. The beds were ok, but the pillows were too soft. We wanted to print out our boarding passes and was told it was free, it took $10 to log on and print out the boarding passes. CAN I SUGGEST TO MANAGEMENT THAT THEY GO TO LAS VEGAS TO LEARN WHAT CUSTOMER SERVICE IS!!!! « less

Compared with many other hotels I have stayed domestically and overseas, this hotel is over-priced. The so-called wireless internet is not free ($14 per day); the restaurant in the hotel charges $30 for each person for the poor-serviced breakfast; the parking is across the street ($30 perday); the front-desk personnel are not customer-oriented. I have to say that I am quite disappointed at choosing this hotel to stay at NY. « less

I was in this hotel with family in April 2009. pros: 1. Location is really excelent for sightseeing. 2. Size of room is just OK for 2 adults and 1 child. 3. Reception staff was polite and professional
cons: 1. Room really needs renovation, especially bathroom 2. Chocolate in minibar was covered by thick layer of dust. I am not joking. 3. I was tried to be cheated. They added 2 bottles of wine from minibar into my check. However, it was immediately removed it after my notice « less
