My husband and I stayed at the Empire. His company was having its christmas party there. The hotel is a large boutique hotel. we were not sure ecatly where it was, but we were pleasantly surprised that it is across the street from lincoln center. you cant get closer to it unless you're there. The front desk staff is is not the friendliest but they are helpful. the rooms have probably been redone in the last few years so they are cool and clean. but they are TINY. my husband had to stand in the shower to brush his teeth while i did my makeup at the sink...you cannot fit more than 2 people in that room-not even with a little kid. the toiletries are l'occitane so they are great and bed is super comfy with great linens. my husbands office party was in the bar upstairs which is great. i am not a bar person-but this place has amazing views of lincoln center, columbus and broadway. it had a great roof deck and apparantly there is a pool(i was there in december so no need for that). i cant tell you what the service was like at the regular bar, but i can tell you things...1)it was packed, as was the lobby bar and 2)the party that i went to was so well done. they had great passed apps and an open bar. pj clarkes is in the lobby-its great, quick and inexpensive-great for kids and grownups. they are known for their burgers and the resturant is enormous so i dont think that there is usually a wait. the hotel is also a block from the regis&kelly studio, as well as the view and the time warner center. its a great hotel. if you can get a good deal-i say go and do it. « less

My first impression of this hotel I thought the hotel was gonna be great. The location, and hotel interiors are awesome. The lobby was great, especially with the bar located in the lobby. The hotel staff was just ok, average but not too friendly, I've received friendlier and faster service at Hilton Hotels. None of the staff wore name tags, so if a problem were to occur you could not identify who's,who. When we got to our room it was fanstastic. Great view, nice bathroom. I loved it! However I do have a complaint, there was a small stain on the comforter of one of the beds, and I had personally went down to the front desk and told someone about it on my way out, I left for over 2 hours and arrived back to find someone did come to the room, but did not change the comforter until I had to call again a second time, which I think is unprofessional. The hotel has comfortable beds and decor, I could have spent the entire trip in the hotel. I would most certainly be staying here again. great room, great location. The roof top pool was closed however they also have a roof top area with tables and chairs which appears to be the scene for a nice restaurant during the summer. The lounge in the hotel also seemed to be a trendy hot spot which a small line outside the hotel to get to the lounge I would love to return to this hotel on my next visit to New York. « less

I went with my brother to NYC and it was his first visit to the city.
We had a great time. The location was good and we paid a lot of money altough it was a good deal (via priceline) They gave us room 1134 which had a view on broadway. Sadly enough the swimming pool on the top floor was not open yet but for the rest we had a very pleasant stay.
I knew the location before visiting priceline website but for people looking for a nice located hotel this might be the best place. It's walkable to timessquare, central park and more uptown (red line) and it's still very quiet on this side of broadway.
'Don't forget to take breakfast at Manhattan DIner ;) (walk uptown) « less

I've stayed in many NYC hotels over the years and was never inspired to write a review. However after my recent stay at the Empire Hotel I thought I'd write my first. My wife and I stayed there in November in order to attend a Veteran's Day event in the City. We made it a sort of business/romantic getaway kind of thing. I was amazed at how beautiful the hotel truly is. It's an old historic hotel which was recently rennovated. The atmosphere is charming. There's a nice, warm feel to it, especially as you enter the lobby. The staff is top notch. They were everything you'd expect in a hotel staff and they made us feel like VIPs. Very professional yet warm and engaging. The concierge and front desk personnel were very efficient and exuded professionalism. Yet at the same time they were patient and courteous. I've been to other places where that just wasn't the case. The bellman opened doors for us. Yeah, I know, they do that at all hotels, but these bellman actually smiled and gave us a genuinely warm greeting; not one that seemed stale and rehersed. The hotel's security was no different- genuinely warm, but definitely no nonsense. They didn't come off like the goons you see all too often nowadays. Even though the roof and pool deck was closed for the season the hotel's head engineer ( a fellow vet) gave us a private tour of the areas. Great view of Broadway and Columbus Circle! The few managers I spoke with during our stay were outstanding. Very professional and on point with the concept of hospitality. They all deserve raises! We stayed in Room 817. Although the bathroom did seem a bit small and it could use a shower curtain, the room itself was cozy yet spacious. Who hangs out in the bathroom anyway; right? They had a fully stocked minibar with lots of popular drinks, snacks, wines, and beers. Our room was quiet, immaculate and the temperature just perfect. And it was every bit as charming as the lobby. It made you not want to leave your room. The big screen TV, free internet access, and a most outrageously comfortable bed only compounded that feeling. We did have one slight problem with getting onto the internet, but we called down to the front desk and within 5 or 6 minutes an engineer was knocking on our door to resolve the problem. Each time we left our room and put the room service sign on the door we found the room totally refreshed upon our arrival. The hotel has a location that's second to none. It's across from Lincoln Center, three blocks from Columbus Circle, and a block or so from Central Park. You're never more than a block or so away from a subway station that can take you to every corner of this NY metropolis. Lots of great places to eat too. And if you don't want to go far to grab a bite the hotel has two fine restaurants on its' premises to go along with a first rate room service. We only ordered coffee during our stay. But the high level of service they provided you'd have thought we ordered a four course meal. Would I recommend this hotel to anyone?...In a Heartbeat!!! Thanks, Guys!!! Keep up the good work!!! « less

Stayed for 4 nights in room 934. 9th Floor double beds over looking Broadway. Yes the rooms are small but I knew that. The room had great beds. All of the features TV, A/C showers etc work perfect. For the money you can't get a better room on Broadway 10 blocks from all the action. I would stay there again. My wife and I like great rooms for a reasonable price. This room was just that.
Yes you could get a worse room and yes things could go wrong. In my case it was a good deal. « less
