I stayed here over Thanksgiving and experinced what so many have reported, overpriced room - got a small 1bedroom with furniture that looked like they got it at a garage sale. Old & used. The $500 room entitled me to use the executive lounge ,that was packed as nobody was monitoring who was coming in and out . Service was slow to non-exsistent . I am a Hilton Honors participant and always get a follow-up email to insure my stays are enjoyable....not this time because I think they already know... « less

During the course of my three week stay at the New York Hilton I developed a "love/hate" relationship the hotel. I love, love, love the location. The quick access to Central Park and 5th Avenue shopping was wonderful and definately made my trip more enjoyable. However, the time spent in the property was average at best. Overall the property just feels old and dated. My room was relatively small compared and simply appointed. I realize you're paying for the location, but I still don't like paying luxury price for an average hotel. « less

This hotel is a great great location. Literally across the street from the MOMA and down the block from Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center.
We walked to shows on Broadway and had no trouble getting around from here. The rooms are nice, a bit larger than most NYC rooms too. Standard run of the mill Hilton style rooms. No special flat screens or anything. Bathrooms were sizable as well. View was not much, but did have a bay window sort of which was nice.
The hotel did however have the Zip Check-In Kiosk, but they fail to tell you even on pre-paid rooms, they take a $600 deposit on the room .. this was a bit troubling since there was no notification of the matter, which I believe is illegal. « less

This hotel is well located and the rooms are well fitted out. The bathrooms are a bit old and tired, but otherwise the hotel is fine at the 4.5 star level. Three gripes: almost every day that I was there, there was some sort of conference going on and the lifts were unable to cope. Secondly, the Executive Lounge cannot cope with the amount of people taking breakfast between 7.15 and 8.45AM. Finally, my colleague who was not staying on the executive floor had to pay extra to use the gym (for USD 300 per night, this is a bit cheeky). For a five star hotel at five star prices, these issues need to be sorted out. They might be acceptable in a tourist hotel, but not in a city business hotel. Otherwise, the visit was fine: free inroom internet for executive floor members is a nice touch. « less
