We go to NYC every year, usually to celebrate my birthday, we even got engaged in NYC last year! We've stayed in several 3 and 4 star hotels all over the city, but this was hand down the best NYC hotel we've ever stayed in simply because of the location.
It always surprises me when people comment on room size. People need to understand that in NYC, your room is going to be SMALL compared to rooms in less populated cities. Yes the bathrooms are small, yes you can barely get your suitcases in the room, but that's NYC, deal with it. The decor of the room was modern yet comfy. The white noise maker was GREAT, and blocked out the city street noise. The bed and linens were comfy and the bathroom was small but sufficient. The plasma tv was great and they had a good selection of channels, but you have to pay for internet, which is unfortunate.
The doorman was awesome, courteous and friendly, the front desk staff was prompt, friendly and even upgraded us upon check-in. The bags were taken care of, and later transported to our room before we even inquired about them (we arrived before check-in time).
The interior is very New York chic, but not intimidating, the restaurant was busy, the bar was full every night. The location of this hotel was phenomenal for anyone who LOVES bargain shopping...a two minute walk to Canal street, 10 minutes from the old cobblestone streets of Soho, about 20 minutes down to the financial district to go to the infamous Century 21. We ate breakfast most morning's in a diner, but if you don't want to sit down and eat, there was a Dunkin' Donuts right on Canal street, so you could always opt to grab a coffee.
The restaurants in the area were also to die for: Nobu and Mr. Chow were a 5 minute walk, make sure you make reservations way in advance!
We can't wait to return! Will be heading back in the summer!!! « less

I was impressed with the service at the hotel - the doorman quickly took our things, check in was quick, with champagne toast, were led to the room by a knowledgeable and friendly bellman. Despite the loud open atrium the soundproofing in the room was very good. Liked the complementary coffee/tea service. The bathroom was a little spartan and definitely cramped. Once you open the door there is hardly room to turn around, the tub is tiny. The room is really small -we had superior king, don't think it was the smallest. Two people can't really pass without bumping into each other. The bed and linens comfortable, good large plasma TV. It was a good value at $255 but the room could def be bigger. Did not eat there so can't comment on restaurant - although people seemed to be enjoying the breakfast next morning. « less

We arrived here after a nightmare at the Hotel Chelsea and were immediately struck by this place. Our bags were taken out of the taxi before we were able to get out onto the street, we were given glasses of champagne at reception and the concierge was knowledgeable and informative. Our room was not huge but more than fine for a couple. It was impeccably clean, stylish and has an excellent view out onto the street. highly recommended. « less

Recently stayed here with my daughter. Really nice hotel in Downtown location. Close to Soho, China Town and Greenwich Village. Subway 5 mins walk to Uptown Manhattan. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel. Within a 20 min walk to the financial district, World Trade Centre and the Staten Island Ferry. Great Value for money, with a good restaurant. Rooms clean and although not big, they have everything you could want. If you want a drink there is a central tea/coffee making service on each floor. « less

Very cool and funky hotel, but with no attitude. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful - didn't feel at all like a usual hotel experience. Fantastic location right near Soho - great for walking around, shopping, galleries, etc. We had a room on a high floor tucked away in a corner, which was great because most of the rooms are right off the atrium that is open all the way up from the lobby bar, which can be loud (and on Saturday night they had bands starting at 1130). We'd definitely stay there again. « less
