I was in NYC last week for business, and wasn't sure exactly where I wanted to stay. I had looked up many room reviews on trip advisor, and was turned off by reviews of dirt, mice and unhelpful people, so I wasn't sure where I would stay. I'm a bit of a picky hotel traveler- must be clean, safe, and up to date. I usually have good experiences at Hiltons, so I decided to try this Hilton.
I arrived very early, prior to check in, so the woman behind the check in desk offered to call me when my room was ready. The bellman held my bags while I was out all day long. It was a no brainer. They were very friendly and accomodating. When I returned back at the end of my day, my key was already waiting and I was ready to go.
In regards to the room- It was very clean (from what I could tell) and updated. The room was quiet and actually larger than I have seen in NYC. The bed was nice and Comfy, and the towels were nice and big :)
The location was great- right around the corner from Times Square. If you're looking for fun, I decided last minute to go see Mary Poppins, which is a few doors down. Great show, and if you're travelling by yourself like I did, it's easy to find a seat. The only thing I wish I would have done was go to TKTS in Times Square and find a half price ticket, but since I was alone, I didn't feel like wandering out once it was dark. I did, however find this area safe and easy to navigate.
I will definitely come back to this hotel again. I'm sort of a hotel snob, so if you are like me, you will probably find this to be a good place to stay while in NYC. « less

Stayed here for 4 nights on 10th Dec 2009. What a lovely hotel and very friendly staff!! and the location couldnt be any better, practically on the corner of the main section of Times Square. Hotel is tucked in between shops and restaurants so hard to see when you first arrive but the big clock at the door gives it away! We took an 'airlink' shared treansfer bus from the airport rather than a taxi!! this is only £27 return each and by far is the best way do to it! theres prob about 10 people in total in the minibus and u just wait ur turn depending on who hes dropping off first! then he comes back at an allocated time to the door of your hotel for your return journey back to the airport! sure you could beat a service like that for that kind of price! weve been stung before with taxis costing us the guts of $80 each way, so you see my point! The hotels reception is on the 21st or 22nd floor, and then rooms start above that!! you are more or less guaranteed a gr8 view with whatever room you get! we were on floor 31 and overlooking times square, so had a gr8 view in every direction. The weather was super too which meant you could see for as far as the eye would let you. Our room was a king room, so with a king size bed! you wouldnt even know ur other half was in the bed as its that big and comfy. Rooms are massive, with a desk/chair, plus another big arm chair and table beside it. Flat screen tvs and coffee makers. Dressing gowns are provided also which is lovely and comfy after a long day shopping! Bathrooms are big and spacious and have the usual complimentary toiletries. Rooms are cleaned every day and towels changed as and when you need them. Maid was very thorough in our room so she was left a good tip at the end! There are ice machines located on every floor and we didnt find any problems bringing in food/drink to the hotel to have in our room. There is a mini bar in every room, but like any mini bar, its cheaper to leave it alone and buy the stuff down the street! Safes are located in every room also, they are free of charge to use, and i would def recommend using it and you can never be too careful. The only gripe which i have is that when checking in the hotel charge $100 per night pre-authorised on your credit/debit card, and if you dont have a card they take the cash!!!!!! i was expecting to be charged but not this amount, as ive stayed in other hotels in New York and America in general and never been charged as much! Bit of a shock if you dont know about it id say! Plus it doesnt automatically go back into ur account once u check out, apparently it can take up to 7 working days!!! The hotel has a restaurant of its own called 'Above', prices didnt seem too bad, though we didnt eat in it as we wanted to see out and about. The is also a good size bar on the reception floor, and it always seemed busy enough. But back to the good things. Madam Tussauds is right next door to the hotel. We went in on an evening at 7pm on a fri evenin and there was about 4 of us walking round the whole place!! def the best time to go, as every other time we walked passed it, the queue was very long and down the street at times! Dave & Busters restaurant is next door which is great for families as they have a whole room of games machines for kids! food was excellent in here, u have to try the new york strip steak with peppercorn and blue cheese sauce!! yumm! very reasonable prices too! Applebees restaurant is linked to the hilton from the lobby. we ate breakfast in here every morning and the food was good as was the service! handy and good prices too! Plenty of good souvenir shops about, though after going into almost every one of them, the cheapest by far was one called ' Grand Slam' on times square, really good choice of stuff! We went to see the Rockettes at Radio City, and it was fab! gr8 show to take the family to as its all to do with Santa etc, but we both loved it and we had no kids with us! I found this time of year gr8 in new york even tho it was wild busy. But the big department stores like Macys/ Bloomingdales/Jc Penneys etc all had at least 25-50% off everything!! bargains galore, so u'll def need an extra suitcase coming home! You also must visit Bryant Park if you're going this time of year, for the christmas markets! lovely stalls and an ice rink too!! another ice rink at the rockerfeller centre, where you can also go to the TOp of the Rock, which is like going up the Empire State building, as u see the same things! About $21 each to go up. Would def return to this hotel again, for the location and the luxury as it was everything you could possible ask for! certainly there are other fab hotels, for example the Marriott Marquis right on times square, but youd pay a fortune to stay in it and the hilton is quite literally around the corner and a much better price!! Hope this gives you a bit of a help when trying to decide on this hotel!! i would def say a big YES, go and book it!! « less

I stayed at the Hilton Times Square for a night, and had a great experience. Front desk was especially friendly, and having seen that my trip was booked by a nearby company, he immediately gave me directions to that company for next morning. Check-in was fast, and the view from my window was breathtaking. Despite being in the middle of Times Square, it's rather quiet too, and I woke up early just before sunrise and it's hard to explain how it feels to watch NYC wake up. Definitely recommend it, though it's rather pricey if you're the one paying it. « less

Tucked away in the bustling area of 41st & 42nd Ave just north of Broadway, we found this hotel to be quiet and elegant. The rooms were very nice, the bed very comfortable and we thought it was on the same level as any other Hiltons that we are accustomed to. It's very clean and modern. We found the staff to be very accomodating. We arrived early but still was able to check in as they had rooms ready to go. We loved that they let us check in early so we could regroup after the flight in and be ready to head out for sightseeing the rest of the afternoon. With the status in the Hilton Honors program we were awarded free breakfast vouchers. The breakfast buffet was excellent and we found the restaurant staff superb! It's nice to be right by Port Authority, Times Square Subway station, and plenty of places to dine in the area. It was an easy walk to Times Square, Broadway shows, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, etc. « less
