For some reason in 2005 I went to Niagara falls a lot with my fiancee and we've ended up staying in a lot of random and various hotels a long the place; we stumbled across this one Late afternoon; We wanted a cheap and clean hotel that was close to the touristy areas, but we didn't want to spend an arm and a leg considering we were only staying one extra night (blame the fiancee for missing the last train back to Toronto.) So the cab driver suggested this little gem and I am glad she did.

Now, this little HoJo is one of your basic hotels - its one of those little gems that you come in and you need a bed and nothing else. The rooms are tiny - TV, Bed(s), bathroom.

However, the service more than makes up for it.

During the night our Radiator (on of those old school ones that stick out of the wall) - (the hotel is a little dated.) got too hot, and I was afraid since my bed was right next to it that I was going to roll over and burn myself; I made a quick call to the front desk and received a promise that someone will be up to fix it; sure enough with in five minutes there was a knock at our door, and a maintence man: who not only apologized for the need to come up so late at night, but was quick to fix the problem and was quite friendly.

I had asked for a wake up call so we would not miss our train again; and the girl at the front desk: not only called twice, but made a quick stop past our room when we didn't answer to make sure we did not in deed miss our train.

Another; example of this fine staff; was when my fiancee accidentally trigged the fire alarm in our hotel room because of the steam from the shower head and an open door. As soon as the alarm made the first beep we received a quick call from the front desk to ask if everything okay.

It wasn't always the large things that the hotel did; it was the little things to: helping us read the map, making sure we were checked out in time to not miss our train (with no penalty for early check out) .

Yes the hotel is standard at best; but the service more than makes up for its date appearence. « less
