The only good thing I found about this hotel is the location, however my stay in this hotel was horrible here are the reasons:
1- Room Service: I do not know what part of the sentence "Do Not Disturb" the hotel did not understand when I left the room I kept the sign on, when I came back the room service went in and cleaned the room, however they took the glasses from the minibar and I have to ask 4 times for them to return them back.
2- The Limo: When I arrived at Penn Station I have asked the hotel to arrange a limo for me to take me to the hotel, when I have asked for the service I have been told a certain charge figure and I have arrived to check in I have been told another figure, and when the hotel charged me they charged me with a different figure that is 3 times more what they have told me, after explaining the hotel the situation 3 times, the finally got convinced and guess what !! they charged a new figure for this service.. talk about the confusion and bad communication.
3- The Restaurant: The food is actually good @ the Istana restaurant however what I did not like is the servants there, I do not know where they are from France or Italy regardless (No offense) but they have TRULY defined the meaning of "Un-Friendly" they never smile, they let you feel as if they are paying for your food not the other way around truly did not like their attitude.
4- Checkout: While I was staying at the hotel I came back and the key for the room did not work, when I asked why this has happened, I found out that I was "Checked-out" from the room while I was still staying there for additional 2 nights, according to them Room Service team reported that my room was empty, however this day room service did not even clean my room so I do not understand how did they reach this conclusion.. !!
5- Bathroom: The shower water heater control is loose, it really did not affect the control of water temperature, but I mean come on did I really spend this amount of money in this so called New York Palace Hotel for me to see this kind of stuff, it was totally un-pleasant and has set bad impression, if the hotel will one day reply back to my review and pop the question of why I did not report this to be fixed, my answer is, I have asked for 2 empty glasses after room service took them when they cleaned the room and got them after 14 hours and four times calling begging to have these glasses. So I guess that if I reported this to be fixed it might have finished after months maybe. « less

WOW is a word I used lots of times during my stay in New York! For my husband and I this was going to be a special long weekend to celebrate our 40th birthdays and it was therefore really important for us to stay in a hotel that was fitting for our treat....The New York Palace certainly lived up to our expectations and more!
On arrival we were shown to our Executive corner king room on the 32 floor....the view was absolutely amazing!!! The room was big and furnished in a classic luxurious manner, very tasteful! Our porter gave us a card for complimentary cocktail as it was our birthdays...we sampled them later on in our stay and they were incredibly strong!! hic!
The Christmas lights were beautiful in the foyer/stairway and outside in the courtyard, the hotel had a lovely festive feel to it.
I would definitely recommend the executive rooms (if your budget allows) as they give you access to the executive lounge on the 39th floor. This is where you go for your breakfast which is included in the cost of the room. The breakfast was delicious, self service buffet style. My husband opted for the cooked breakfast, followed by cereal and toast every morning, whilst I went for the fresh raspberries, strawberries etc and danish pastries!!! Very civilised atmosphere in the lounge and internet access available too, with printers if you require. The lounge is open all day until 8pm. We usually popped back around 6pm for champagne/beer/wine and snacks. It was handy that you could also take back fruit/cookies and soft drinks to your room.
I can not understand some of the negitive comments that I have recently read regarding this hotel....some people must be very hard to please! It was FANTASTIC a real treat. Whitney Houston was staying there during our time, which sums up the quality of the place. If you want a really special time in New York you need look no futher than the Palace....the location is fab too! ENJOY! « less

We had the unfortunate situation of running into a extremely "rude" concierge during our visit. I voiced my concerns w/ Mgr on duty who offered no apology during conversation nor seemed to care about the rude unprofessional behavior displayed by his employee. complete lack of caring and service exhibited............this property has gone downhill. would be wise to look elsewhere for the money being spent. « less

I have always wanted to go to NYC during Christmas time so I wasn't trying to be a penny pincher with this trip. I booked our rooms in July, and got them for $590 a night for one of the larger standard rooms. I booked the corner king room, and it really was big! I requested a higher up floor and they gave me a higher floor. The room I chose was between the 9th-29th floor, and we ended up on the 21st floor. My fiance had never been to NYC before, and he was just in amazement when we first arrived. The hotel was decorated beautifully. There were lights everywhere. There were Christmas tree's in the courtyard in front of the hotel. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. If I wouldn't have saved for this trip, the cost of the room would be ridiculous, but you will have that in NYC. Everything is more expensive. The staff was professional, and extremely friendly. They made us feel right at home. Most of the guest were friendly also (there were a few snobby ones). We didn't have a chance to eat at the restaurant or stop at the barin the hotel, but it must have been good, considering they were always packed with people. They supplied you with robes and slippers in the rooms, with evening turn down service. All in all, I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and I would stay there again, no questions asked. We had a wonderful time, and having a great experience with the hotel made it even better :) « less
