Stay 2-5th and 8-9th of August 2018
We had rooms by our travel agency for 9 people. Everyrhing ran smoothly till we decided to have an extra for a shower when back from our treck in Ha Giang. Booking lady asked for a room price even we only use the bathroom. Thats what we paid. When we arrived at the hotel for shower before our next train to Hue. She gave us a room let us go into the room the call us by the phone claiming to pay a 2nd room 700 000 dong because we are 9 people. Office ladies pretended we never been 9 people before in this hotel. 1 we have paid a room only for a shower service 2 we have been trapped when we were given the key to get into the room and received change order call in the room to pay for a 2nd room Our group get out of room and we found a homestay next door of the hotel with 3 bathrooms available and had snack for the price of a room at the hotel. This hotel is very average you can better place around the church but this hotel renamed Hanoi Ancient Town is run by dishonnest people and rippers. Stay away from it!

Very good accommodation if you are looking for a good price place (20$/nite only through AGODA for deluxe room), really clean and basic facilities is included, difficult pp may need bring their own amenities (shampoo, shower gel,..). Soundproofing's not really good since down the lane is very busy and bustling.
Very good position in The Old Town with 10 meters only for walking to Suong Noodle (very famous and strong recommend, I prefer this than another one known as Ly Quoc Su Noodle).
Then, you should come to find 19 Trung Yen Lane, Hang Bac, Hoan Kiem, exactly this address cause you will not find the hotel by following its name "Hanoi Romance Hotel". Lol

I stayed here as the first leg of my journey before moving onto Dalat for a wedding.
The hotel is very centrally located. They offer a pick up service which I used as this is my first time in Vietnam. It was about 12 pounds and the driver was waiting with a board with my name on. An official taxi (Mai Linh - green ones) are apparently cheaper (around 300,000VND) or the 7/17 buses are 9,000VND and take about an hour and ten minutes.
The staff were dry friendly and helpful. They upgraded my room which was nice as well! The beds and comfortable, it was clean and the shower was good. It can be a bit noisy because it’s central, but that’s Hanoi/Vietnam for you!
The breakfast was really nice. Mainly Vietnamese (which I liked as I want to try the food), but there was sausage, bacons and egg. I was offered early check in with breakfast on my first day as I arrived early, and I was able to eat enough I didn’t need lunch!
The room was about £20 (bargain!) and early check in about £7.
Download the app Triposo as well. Offline maps are a god send and you can easily walk round and find all the sights in Hanoi (it’s not actually that big on the centre). 2 full days should be enough to do a good amount of sight seeing.

Felt safe and comfortable staying here. It’s in a great location (yes it is down a narrow alley but this is part of the fun) it’s 5 minutes walk from the night markets and lake. There is local and tasty street food places a stones throw from the hotel on the same street- noodles etc. Staff were attentive and went out of their way to help us, early check in, free upgrade of rooms, booked taxis to airport, booked domestic flights in Vietnam etc. Rooms do not have windows but are spacious enough not to feel claustrophobic and have air con. Good WiFi too. I always go for places where people have said the staff are friendly because if the staff are friendly and do a good job, the rest (air con, breakfast) is negotiable- I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great location set right in the old city on a little alley only wide enough for scooters. Sandwiched between other buildings most of the bedrooms do not have windows to the outside. I knew this before i went so was not disappointed. Staff were helpful and the included breakfast more than adequate.
