This hotel was fantastic...So convenient to Subway.. Cent 21.. Canal Street.. Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridge..
Just around the corner is the most beautiful breath taking walk to Brooklyn Bridge and Southsea Port.. This is my 12th year going to new york and the best time ever.
The hotel itself is basic but so so clean and comfortable, the staff where so helpful and courteous. The only only downside would perhaps be the lack of european food. This hotel is really in the heart of china town so the local food is really what is available. There are no deli's but really was no hardship. The dining out next door was beautiful and I am game for trying anything, but my friend was harder to please and very much a plain eater..
The side walks are crammed everyday with every kind of seafood creature imaginable. I found it astonishing, would have loved to have been able to cook some of the shrimp myself.. Have never seen anything like it in my life.
The night porter was so funny and helpful and was everyone.. Complimentary tea and coffee on the second floor which is where check-in takes place.
There is only one internet available if you didnt want to use wi-fi in your room so at times there may have been a wait, but no hassle.. $5 for an hour.. Cheaper than using your mobile and getting all the bills..
There really is too much about where to go and see around here.. I even jogged up and over to Brooklyn which was a breathtaking experience..
If you do decide to stay here, please please walk everywhere to all the above mentioned areas... SouthSeaPort it self is so quaint and pretty.. There is an Abercrombie and Fitch here which requires no queuing whatsoever as the one in 5th Ave is bonkers and not a very nice experience..
One example of how cheap it is to stay here is,, bot of water uptown is $3 and where we stayed at 50cents.. TOTALLY UNREAL.. One tip.. The F train is really the only subway to take you down to EastBroadway so be aware of that.. Best trick to go uptown to 34th and change.. I did this one day it was pouring so as not to get and wanted to go to cent 21 AGAIN.. A lot of walking but at least i was in subway..
We have already booked for next year where the management have given us this years rates already... So a big thank u..
With any lucky Santa might bring me a ticket and spends for the Jan sales... « less

Our stay at The Hotel 91 was absolutely perfect for us! 3 rooms fronting E. Broadway were very large, huge bathrooms, very clean and new. Fabulous beds, great windows with great views, downtown Chinatown! Less than 2 blocks to subway, walking distance to Little Italy, helpful, friendly staff, could not have been better. Plus 3 bakeries to choose from each morning for Char-su-bow or however you spell it, incredible! « less

First be sure you are GUARANTEED to be on the side of the hotel away from the bridge. If you face the bridge it is very noisy and you maybe very upset. Second know that you are in Chinatown. I love Chinatown and needed to stay in lower manhattan but it is a bit out of the way for some people. It is very clean, new and the customer service is great. It is however minimalist. You get everything you need but not a thing more. There is no wireless - there is hard wired DSL and in our room the cable was next to the phone on a TINY night stand with a short cable. We had two queen beds and the room was quite large. The desk was also tiny. The free coffee in the lobby is instant coffee and hot water.

In the middle of bustling Chinatown is Hotel 91. Immediately surprised by its cleanliness and comfortable beds! The property has a very "fresh" feel. Our room had 2 double beds (they reminded us of the Westin's "Heavenly Beds". A/C was very quiet and efficient, plenty of hot water, free high speed ethernet, flat screen tv.
Overall room size was a bit small, the window view on the 6th floor was the traffic/train of the Manhattan Bridge (almost touching distance!). A bit noisy, but the double-paned windows helped and it didn't interrupt sleep. No fridge, We only saw Chinese food nearby (Starbucks about 1/2 mile away). "Complimentary coffee and tea" on 2nd floor was a hot pot with instant Folgers or tea bags.
Walking distance to the Brooklyn Bridge, Ground Zero.
Good value for money. Nice and helpful staff.
Parking at $32/day on Henry St (near the backdoor entrance to hotel). « less

This hotel is not fancy or anything but the location is great and the room is good. You only get a room and some vending machines - no restaurant/bar or room service - but that's all you really need. No bedbugs and the room is cleaned every day. I got an offer on the room (104 $/night) and the price was definitely right.
The hotel is smack down in Chinatown which worked for me since I spent most my time in LES and the Chinese surroundings is a good experience - like being in China actually. :-)
I got a room right next to the the train track on Manhattan Bridge but was not disturbed by the noise even though the trains keeps at it all night. There's a double window frame so most of the noise is blocked out.
You can find better hotels (but then again probably also more expensive) but definitely also worse, so Hotel 91 is worth a recommendation. « less
