Sooo peaceful and quiet after a day at the parks. The grill on the deck was my favorite. Bus transportation to and from the parks is the best because it is a smaller resort so the wait is less. Rent the golf cart because this place is BIG. Do not skip the boat to Magic Kingdom.
So idyllic! Perfect for grandparents & grandchildren!

Where do I start? The cabins are fabulous. All that gorgeous wood interior. So cozy! Kids loved the bunks and all the quaint details on the light fixtures and furniture. Never turned on TV. Super comfortable. Loved the deck. Great golf cart parking/charging. Super quiet at night. Saw a buck near our cabin. Rabbits too. Convenient laundry, pool, snacks. Boat to MK wonderful. Good food choices. Very special place! Shame they're changing it so much. Glad we got to experience it.

I have always wanted to stay at Fort Wilderness and finally did! I loved every minute of the stay. I do recommend you rent a golf cart, as it makes traveling around the resort much more manageable (it is worth the added expense!). We brought our little dog and he truly loved all the space (and other dogs!).
The food is great with lots of options, the activities are fun and worth the extra fee, and the beach is a relaxing place to watch the fireworks.
We did have one odd experience: the first two nights of our stay, a couple little frogs kept congregating around the door and some got in our cabin. They were really cute and not too hard to get out, but definitely something to watch out for. We would open the door slowly and shine a light around it to see if any frogs were hanging about. Cast Members theorized that because our cabin had been empty before we checked in, the frogs weren't scared away. Despite this small inconvenience, we have already booked another stay at Fort Wilderness!

Love, Love, LOVE staying in the cabins in Ft Wilderness. Christmastime has been my special time to go. I miss the restaurants for breakfast and lunch and dinner - the new place is just alright - not something I'd recommend. I recommend cooking in the cabin! I'll miss them when they redo with the new vacation club member cabins.
Worn out, not well maintained cabins but a great family friendly environment

We love to stay at the cabins each year but they are beyond a good value at the current pricing. The furniture is old and dirty. The sleeper sofa was impossible to sleep on and took a lot of time to get one replaced . They don’t clean every day but trash cans are small for a kitchen. There are no towels at the pools so bring your own. There is a full size fridge, microwave and dishwasher in the kitchen. There are 2 small cooktop burners. The kitchen is equipped with basic supplies but minimums. There is a charcoal grill and a picnic table on the patio. Bring bug spray when outside. A golf cart or bikes are necessary since there are no parking places for cars. The campgrounds are fun to explore especially during the holidays. There are multiple pools , playgrounds, trails and basketball hoops. The evening campfire with Chip and Dale was fun. There is a fire but no supplies for s’mores so bring your own including sticks.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness need updated. Furniture is worn out. There was no heat. No Decaf coffee. Fortunately I brought my own. Lack of security is a real issue. I had someone banging on the bedroom window and the back side of the cabin. I was unable to get thru to security so had to dial 911 on my cell phone. Deputies and security arrived. Security is supposed to be on-site but they arrived after the Sheriff deputies. Very scary situation. I definitely will not be back to the Cabins! They should have at least offered a refund for a night with no sleep!

The resort is huge - there is a lot to do on the resort itself - definitely need to rent a golf cart (extra cost) to get around - or rent or bring a bike. We did not reserve the golf cart ahead of time, but we were lucky that they had some available to rent. The cabin was a nice size for the 2 of us and our 2 medium size rescued dogs. The furniture is a bit dated but it's not awful. The kitchen is stocked with basic dishes and utensils for cooking, there's a nice size refrigerator and dishwasher -but it's not a luxury experience- the bed was comfortable but is up against the wall on one side - the bed pillows were nice and fluffy. We checked in on Sunday afternoon for a 2 night stay and by Monday afternoon some guy from maintenance knocked on the door and came around to "check out stuff", "do a look around the cabin" and make sure his key worked for our room???? as my husband opened the door, both dogs ran out - both barked at the guy and scared him (we did have the door hanger on the door that alerts housekeeping that there's dogs inside) so he proceeded to grab the baby gate that we had put up on the deck stairs to use as a shield, although my dogs weren't jumping on him, just barking- after we got the dogs inside, he left, only to come by a hour later to ask if our dogs had up to date vaccines ( the dog contract does say that dogs must be up to date on vaccines and proof must be provided if asked) I have no issue with showing proof of vaccines. So heads up, apparently maintenance may come by to "check on things" out of the blue, which for the price we paid I did not appreciate. We weren't hiding anything - I called after making the reservations and told them that we were bringing our dogs. When we checked in, the gal had us sign a dog contract and we were handed a "doggie goodie" bag. If vaccines were important, they should require proof of vaccines upon check in. We travel with our dogs all the time, and I've never had an issue. I've also never had anyone come to our room to "check things out" without us requesting some sort of service. They had my number and good have texted stating that someone was coming over. We did not use the pool or the internal bus service. The boats to Magic Kingdom and a few of the other resorts are a nice touch. There is an outdoor charcoal grill - and some people had their cabins and golf carts decorated with Christmas decorations.

We have stayed at Ft Wilderness lodge previously at tent and RV sites. This time we tried the cabins. They are priced fairly high during high season and/or holidays. The campsites offer easy access to parks via bus and or water taxi. You do need to ensure booking a golf cart in advance. The pool is great for kids of all ages. We have never even seen the small pool. We were excited for this trip as the kids love it there. However we were disappointed in cabin layout. The bunk bed for kids is in the bedroom with the larger bed and sleeps up to 6 so it would have been a better set up to have the bunk beds in a different spot and to have at least another half bath. We also had a mouse in our cabin. This year the camp spots had a lot of mosquitoes. We all came home with lots of mosquito bites and ticks! Yes we got ticks while we were there as well. Be sure to bring lots of mosquito spray, and ensure your traveling pet is on a preventative for heart worms and ticks because there were a lot of mosquitoes and ticks. We were extremely disappointed in this last stay. Unlike the other previous stays we spent a lot of money for a two day stay that resulted in one of our kids leaving early ( could not handle sleeping with a mouse in the cabin) and other kids having ticks and lots of mosquito bites. We could have stayed at a state park for much less.

This was our first time visiting Fort Wilderness as we usually stay at a deluxe resort but now there are more of us we fancied a change!
Firstly - this resort is huge, don’t underestimate that! That being said we stayed in the cabin loop and didn’t bother getting a golf cart. We walked 25 minutes to the settlement and around 15-20 to the meadows pool. The internal buses are really regular, we never waited more than 5 mins.
Positives : - boat to magic kingdom is purely magical and absolutely wonderful after a long night at magic kingdom! - really lovely atmosphere and scenery. We loved the smells and the wildlife spotting. All cast members were friendly - hoop de hoo is a must! Our whole family 2-60 loved it! - cabin is nice and homely and the sofa bed did my parents fine for two weeks. - watching the fireworks from the “beach” area was really special, especially with young children!
Negatives - The cabins are a little tired and dated. Obviously this will be changing with the new DVC cabins but our mattress in the bedroom was very sad and the cabin needed a deep dusting - top of the wardrobes and lights were pretty gross - the pool by the cabins was so so disappointing. This pool is not manned by any staff and wasn’t heated for our stay (april-May). There were guests playing music over speakers, kids diving in, oblivious to other guests. It was not a pleasant experience. Disney you are letting us down. Your big spenders are the people staying in cabins, please provide us with a better experience!! - no refillable cup stations. This is usually a must for us but we didn’t fancy the 20 min walk to fill them up, didn’t seem worth it. Please put one by the cabin pool. - we were there when all the food options by the settlement closed. There were smaller options but they weren’t great. Hope to visit again when trails end is re-opened and re-imagined.
We did have an incident where my mum fell in a huge pot hole that wasn’t visible due to no lighting by the bus stop by the settlement. She was really hurt and had a huge gash and lots of bruises. Unfortunately staff didn’t seem to care too much and gave her a sticker for being brave and promised they’d have maintenance fill it in…well four days later we reported it again and basically received an eye roll from staff. If this was an elderly person or a child I’d hate to think of how badly they could be hurt!
Overall we did love our stay here and will definitely return on our next visit.
