Hi, best to stay in Nelson. The outskirts don't have a lot happening especially for little ones. Tahuna Beach, across the road from the Sands has a good playground. However I would ask the Sands which apartment you are in because the Bar can be very noisy? Enjoy! ... more

... agree with the last poster - go for a rental. We rented a great modern apartment on Wakefield Quay for 4 nights- balcony overlooking the water, short walk to the Boatshed restaurant.
