Ovidio and his family are wonderful hosts, the villa, the pool, the gardens and the organic vegetables are wonderful. The top floor apartment is very comfortable, with its balcony. The smaller first floor apartment is quite cramped but OK for one, a bit small for two, and somewhat claustrophobic, but, hey, who wants to be inside in Italy!
Subbiano has a modern Co-op (for cheap local wine and cheese) and a great little hotel/restaurant (Terre Santa Flora) that is well worth a visit. The kitchens only have gas hobs and basic fridges, so anything more than scrambled egg is a challenge.
Two words of warning, the first is the pool attracts a lot of small wasps that try to drown themselves, and will sting you if you brush against them while swimming, so use the provided nets to clear the pool before you swim!
