    Set on the edge of the village of Christow, high above the river at the head of the Teign Valley, the Engine House is a secluded detached property perfect for walkers, fisherman, families or sight seeing. The open plan lounge/kitchen /diner is cosy and welcoming with French doors opening onto the level lawned garden, from where you can hear the river tumbling over the rocks below. The bedrooms are bright and cheerful and from the hallway a door opens onto a walled patio area that is a delightful suntrap and still retains many of the properties original features.     Travelling from the North: head towards Exeter onthe M5 or A303 depending on origin. Following signs for A30 and then Mortonhampstead (B3212). Continue on the B3212 for approximately 6.5m. Turn left onto the B3193. continue for approximately 2m. Turn right at the Teign House Inn signposted Christow. Continue into the village. Turn right at post box and continue for approximatley 1m. Engine House up a slopped drivelway on the left.

We had a comfortable and pleasant stay (9 days) with our kids. Towels provided, beds ready upon arrival. Once we had found the adjacent lake, we'd like to stay at the lake for ever. So beautiful, so much fun with the boat, the small barn etc. Proprietor Mr. Smale came to visit us and was very helpful, had useful advices.... more

The Engine House is located in a small, beautiful village. It is on the edge of the Dartmoor Forest and so surrounded by trees and we saw deer, squirrels and a fox during our week long stay. Our first visit, but I'm sure we will return. Lucky enough to have some fantastic weather, so really enjoyed sitting outdoors every day.
