We stayed at this property as a couple with a 1 year old who was toddling around. Sylvia and Sergio, the owners, are lovely. They bent over backwards to accommodate us, lending their own highchair, baby bath, baby toys, and even fitting some stair gates to the stairs (which are steep and made of stone). They have 3 children themselves so they really understand the challenges of holidaying with a baby! In terms of child safety, the outdoors is mostly enclosed, and the area is very quiet, so we had no problems leaving our toddler to toddle around and explore things. Other than covering plug sockets and hiding the keys to indoor cupboards, the house is pretty child-friendly with the stair gates in place.
The location is very good, up into the low hills behind Montecarlo, giving a quiet and peaceful setting, and providing a wonderful view north of the mountains for outdoors dining. It does require a car to get to, but then that gives you fairly simple access to Florence, Lucca... more
