Good Hope Plantation in Falmouth has been lovingly restored as a fabulous estate which has its history recorded from the 18th Century….absolute gracious surroundings with today’s contemporary comfort and conveniences. As the year 2000 unfolded, an old cut stone building was restored into a spectacular 3 bedroom villa. Sitting moments away from the rivers swimming hole, River Cottage is ideal for a small family gathering or for a small group of friends, or for retreat participants. All bedrooms are air-conditioned with private bathrooms.

Decorated with works of local artisans and using native bullet wood lumber to create the oversized balcony, River Cottage is yet another dream come true. This lovely cottage has the most wonderful original antiques; the beds are of carved mahogany and original buffet tables and side tables with historic value. The owner of this wonderful estate has taken care with the perfect selection of furnishings, antiques and art pieces, to reflect the grand history of this plantation.

A large garden with tropical flowers and a lagoon like pool simply lures you into the mood of enjoyment and relaxation.

River Cottage is a 5 - 8 minute walk to Good Hope Country House, the stables and pottery studio. Good Hope has 10 bedrooms + River Cottage with 3 bedrooms, and can be rented for a total of 13 bedrooms. If you need 3 other bedrooms, the owners cottage can be rented for a total of 16 bedrooms.

River Cottage:

3 air-conditioned bedrooms, each with their own bath or shower. There are one full, one queen, one king (or two twins). River cottage has its own swimming pool, living room with TV, VCR and sound system. There is a lovely verandah which is trimmed with swaying bamboo. There is a staff which includes a cook, housekeeper, laundress, butler/gardener. Charming to River cottage - beside the river and only 2 minutes across a lovely stone bridge is a delightful swimming hole with a rope swimg and floating flatform in a green bamboo garden. It is popular for the cooks to have an open BBQ by the river if you wish. This can easily be arranged.

Bedroom 1: King bed or 2 twin beds, ensuite bathroom, French doors opening up to a verandah

Bedroom 2: Queen-size bed, ensuite bathroom

Bedroom 3: Double bed, ensuite bathroom, wonderful French doors open up to a lawn and garden.

Activities: Horseback riding is available 6 days per week. Each hour and a half ride is US45. The Country House has a tennis court, pool table, table tennis, swimming pool, satellite tv and videos, as well as a large yoga room and an open air Jacuzzi. River Cottage has a pool, a tv with videos, and is magically close to the river. Playground for kids

The Country House has a total of 10 bedrooms situated in three buildings: The Old Great House which has four bedrooms, The Coach House , formally a carriage house 250 years ago, now has 5 bedrooms, and The Counting House , a romantic building with one bedroom.



The Good Hope Living Room :

All rooms are decorated with wonderful antique furniture. Every bedroom is air-conditioned and has private bathrooms. Four bedrooms have two twin beds, and six bedrooms have 1 queen.(twin rooms can be made into kings if needed). We have the capacity to sleep 20 persons, but can put single beds in rooms, allowing for increased capacity.

At Good Hope Country House there is a large dining room, 2 comfortable living rooms, (one more for reading and quiet, the other more for music and games). The bar room has a pool table for you to enjoy as you help yourself to drinks and snacks.

The Good Hope Dining Room: We have a separate building dedicated to watching satellite television and videos, or to be used as a yoga or artist studio. A variety of childrens toys are also available. There is also a grand sized yoga hut in the hummingbird garden, a jacuzzi with decking and an outdoor shower.

Note: Good Hope can be rented as a whole place, not individual rooms. We stagger the rates to accommodate smaller groups who would still like to visit this spectacular property. River Cottage and Garden Cottage can be rented on their own. Please inquire for rates.

GREAT HOUSE : Wonderful verandas, dining room, music room, sitting room, Bar with pool table, large plantation feeling. Blue Room: Optional twin beds or 1 king size bed, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination.

Copper Room: Queensize bed, en-suite bathroom with antique 18th Century copper tub and shower

Barley room: Fullsize bed, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination. Counting House: This is a wonderful stone terrace house which is a romantic setting with a queen bed. This building was originally used as the Counting House for this large plantation. Bamboo Room: King size bed, en-suite bathroom Carriage House: A short walk down a small hill and stone stairway is the Carriage House. This was once the old Coach House which was used for horses and carriages, and has now been converted to a lovely private quarter with romantic canopied beds, a full kitchen with microwave. There are lovely dining and sitting rooms, a large deck with tables and chairs and a spectacular view of the outlying plantation and rolling hills. Tenison Room: Queensize bed, en-suite bathroom en-suite with tub/shower combination Williams Room: Twin 4 poster vbeds, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination. Partners Room: Queen size bed, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination, 2 lovely antique wardrobes adorn this room.

Tharpe Room: Kingsize or twin beds, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination.

Thompson Room: Twin 4-poster, en-suite bathroom with tub/shower combination

Sitting Room: This room is upstairs and has 3 additional twin beds for children - this bedroom shares the upstairs hall bathroom
