This is a recently renovated one-bedroom unit in an old house with nice architectural details. The decorations and furnishings are tasteful and high quality. The unit was very clean. There are two other units in the house; one below and one next to this one. We noticed occasional sounds of water running in the basement unit; the other unit was empty.
The neighborhood felt safe if slightly funky, with mixed homes, small apartment houses, attorneys’ offices, and an art gallery. (Access is best from Broadway or E Street.) Five minutes to downtown by car, and ten minutes to the middle of Balboa Park.
Kitchen has good-quality, new appliances and was extremely well-equipped, right down to the pizza slicer and cheese grater.
There are two tiny but well equipped bathrooms (showers, no tubs).
Only negative we could see was the air conditioning: There are two in-room units, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. They are quite noisy when on...
