My family and I escaped to Maui for a recent extended weekend break. And escape we did. Not to one of Maui's many tourist resorts but to this charming, well appointed country cottage near the quiet town of Haiku. we loved the central location and its easy access to beaches, playgrounds, food and the local playground. The highlight was waking up to the sounds of birds.

Unlike much of Haiku, which can be quite wet, the Cottage property is situated on the geographic line which divides the wet windward Maui regions to the east and the drier slopes to the west. Weather is refreshing and is typically comprised of breezes, bright, warm sun, and occasional showers with cool evenings.

Meadow Cottage is located on the three acre property which is home to the historic 1921 plantation manager's residence (now the Haiku Cannery Inn) for the former Haiku Pineapple Cannery. The Cottage and Inn are half a mile from the old Cannery (now a small shopping area)and the Haiku Post Office.

Meadow Cottage is secluded and quiet yet close to it all. It is 15 minutes from world-class surfing, windsurfing and kiteboarding at Hookipa and Jaws as well as the small historic towns of Paia and Makawao. The Cottage is 25 minutes from the Kahului Airport, 45 minutes from the South Maui resort beaches, and 90 minutes from the West Maui resort beaches.
