Kalij pheasants can occasionally be seen on the grounds, making soft 'booping' sounds.
The main drive way leading to the cottage is bordered by tree ferns and native trees.
Exotic flowers grow amongst the ferns and towering Ohia trees.
Anthuriums grow brightly under the forest canopy.
Occasionally you'll see a group of Frankolin crossing the road.
Kilauea Crater in Volcanoes National Park is only minutes away.
The gardens contain a few secluded koi ponds for your enjoyment.
This lava gaurdian is actually where lava flowed around a tree in the park.
There are a few lava tubes in the area that you can easily explore - bring a flashlight!
Our beautiful garden paths walk you between the koi ponds and stands of bamboo through the forest.

Nestled among the Hapu'u tree ferns, towering Ohia trees, paths and koi ponds, our cottages cater to nature loving, quiet adults who want to be in the rainforest. Our cottages range from a small studio unit with no cooking facilities, to a guesthouse with full kitchen, all with rainforest views out each of the windows. Village stores and restaurants are close by, as is the charming Sunday morning Farmer's Market. The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park entrance is only minutes away. We stayed for 6 nights (the 6th was free!) and enjoyed it immensely. We stayed in the Apapane Guesthouse for two nights. The interior is absolutely adorable and the owners have taken so much care to ensure that it has everything you could need.
