We spent three nights at Lightwood for a multigeneration family vacation. It was the perfect base for a trip to all the tourist sites around Williamsburg. The grounds are quiet and private, and it feels great to drive through the front gates and not even see the house. The house itself was so much fun. The kids loved exploring every nook and cranny and everyone enjoyed all the period decorations and art. The dining room easily accommodated our party of 9 and the kitchen was fine for preparing a few meals - it had everything we needed.
The guest rooms were nice, especially the two larger ones. Kids really liked the attic bedroom, and everything was cool and comfortable, even though it was quite hot out. The downstairs room was a bit cramped, but for those who don't like steep steps, it was appreciated (along with the downstairs full bath). The living room had a music system and TV (although who needs that in this location!) and easily sat our group. Everything was clean... more
