Like many villages in this beautifull and very special corner of France, Mutzig is abundantly flowered. Alsace is a country of good wine, healthy life and generous food. So there are many feasts, festivals, concerts, dinners in any town from Strasbours down to the most remote hamlet, from spring well into late autumn. Then in the middle of cold winter, feasts and lights resume everywhere with the most genuine Christmas markets and village illuminations all along December.
Mutzig has kept many remains of the rich and often turbulent past of this border region disputed by France and Germany: medieval city walls and main gate, old houses, XVIIth century castle (now a library and a cinema) and many other vestiges. But while all Alsace villages are made of lovely "old stones", they are not faked museums - just enjoyed as part of the normal way of life for any Alsatian, who still often lives in a strong but cosy family house built centuries ago and embellished generation after generation.
