Having stayed at Bovey Castle on about 3 previous occasions, I was pleased to see Rose Cottage (The Bovey Lodge) available to rent.
First things first. The Lodge is beautiful - a fairytale looking building. The setting is perfect. Part of Bovey castle, but with the ability to separate yourself from a little of the pretence, when you want. You still have all of the hotels facilities, which is really nice. It was a more comfortable holiday, being able to dip in and out of the Castle. As dog lovers and someone who has always taken their pet/s on every holiday, you will know that it can be a little awkward staying in hotels.
Now the internals of the Lodge are described as of an unusual taste. But really the problem is that is needs a refurbishment. I am guessing that this was modernised about the same time as the original conversion of the hotel, i.e. over 10 years ago.
